Summer clothes if you're overweight

What do you wear in summer if you're overweight, particularly when not at work? I'm 16-18 and really struggle when it's warm. My legs are rubbish so I don't feel confident getting them out, also if I wear a dress/ skirt without tights, my legs really chaff (sorry if TMI).

I have some linen trousers I can wear, or I end up wearing dresses with tights, or jeans. As we're about to get a couple of weeks of summer it would be nice to get some ideas

Shorter dresses with leggings/footless tights undernesath.
Longish shorts
Harem pants
Maxi dresses/skirts.
I'm an 18/20 and wear pretty much the same as everyone else!

Definitely leggings and dresses.

I also just bought some denim knee length shorts from Dorothy Perkins which I'm going to test drive tomorrow!

I dress for comfort so I don't give a shit if I'm not meant to wear cropped leggings!

Will have to look again for shorts, I can never find any that fit

Grad - have you tried using a cream deo. on your inner thighs? since I have been doing this I don't have any chaffing issues!

polyhymnia · 04/07/2013 22:58

Lanacane is also excellent for that. I rely on dresseswhen it's hot though have to admit that tho I'm bigger than you I have good legs from knee down. Must be all the exercise they get from carrying the rest around!!

I can't use cream deo on my underarms as I come out in a rash, no idea if its the same on my legs Grin
Other reason I don't like my legs is I can never get them properly hairless and smooth so feel the need to hide

I am a big girl and wear maxi dresses, sometimes with cropped cardis, loose drapey tunics with cropped trousers, long linen trousers and drapey vests, at home I slob around in a sundress with ruched to and no straps. I shave legs with that razor that has a big block of stuff on it and have one of those pad things (like fine sandpaper) to go over after and use lots of moisturiser. I'm size 18 and I wear maxi dresses, short dresses or tunics with 3/4 length leggings or cropped trousers with t-shirts. I use my spray deoderant (mitchum) on my thighs and it works fine...probably not well enough for walking miles but fine for pottering about etc.
