Bum! Just join a thread and lock it down! So I'll start the next one.

OP posts:
bigTillyMint · 10/07/2013 19:33

CV, I am liking your lack of gardening ethos! MrsS, it obviously doesn't coincide for some of usGrin

Cremo, lavender beds and gravel and weeping willow sounds lovely - go for it!

Ruby, you are sounding very jolly - any linkies? Upload a photo hatty!

In S&B news I have ordered 2 dresses from the dreaded B*n. this and this Fingers crossed they are long enough! Not that I need any more dresses, of course.

Cremolafoam · 10/07/2013 20:02

Oh I love that poppy field dress BTM - I've had my eye on that for a while.Smile

I am very disappointed with what summer clothes I have . This is the first time I've ever had cause to wear any if them when not on holiday.
They just don't seem to transfer from beach holiday in France to slightly unexpectedly tropical Ireland.
I have one dress I dare to wear here in shit brown taupe and 1 pair of white linen trews which are Ok if labour intensive in the cleaning dept.
All my summer tops show too much norkage. Fine for la plage. Not fine for pushing a trolley round Sainsbos.
I do hate t-shirts. So unflattering on me. Hmm

bigTillyMint · 10/07/2013 20:21

Re large norkage (not that I have any!), I work with two women who are enormously well-endowed in that department (and I mean enormously!)
One wears crew neck Tshirts which are frankly not at all flattering. The other wears much lower cut ones - V or rounded, but showing a bit of cleavage. Much more flattering and not inappropriate.

addle · 10/07/2013 20:58

Lovely dresses BTM, and will look very nice on you - think they require a bit of height, esp. the second one.

CV there are advantages once it's all over. I'll scour my fading memory to think what they are.

Agree about t-shirts generally - fairly unflattering on most people.

In S&B news I bought some 'body shaper innerwear' from Uniqlo that 'shows off your natural curves' to wear underneath an unforgiving maxi. It's my first venture into girdle territory and it was very much reduced. I fear I may be going to find out why. Will let you know.

Cremolafoam · 10/07/2013 21:08

Yes to v- neck or whatever you call those drapey numbers. Just don't seem to own any.Shock
I must go and look in an actual shop.
Will the weather last do we think?

Quite like this looks cool
And top&Rf-700=1000&sh=0&pge=0&pgesize=50&sort=-1&clr=Print this

motherinferior · 10/07/2013 21:20

I appear to have given up wearing Tshirts completely. Quite startling, really. They make me feel all spare-tyreish even though I don't weigh any more than I did.

My MiniBoden silver shoes and sandals are charmingGrin

bigTillyMint · 10/07/2013 22:02

See, MI, there are benefits to being smallSmile

Cremo, yes those look better - especially second one. But figure hugging is also good - shows your curves off, especially for large boobageWink

BTM - I also did a Boden order last night, but resisted the dresses. I can't do linkies on this tablet, but I ordered a nice stripy linen/sequinned top and two pairs of coloured skinnies (yellow and greeny-blue); I've somehow managed to trash my lovely jade skinnies, apparently having spilt bleach down them. Angry

Love the halter neck one BTM (but it would involve the purchase of a new bra too, so luckily the colourway in my size I am not keen on!)

motherinferior · 11/07/2013 09:16

Good haul Rubes. (BTW, MaybeBentley, you around?)

Am in Skool Play season. Sloshed makeup on many primary kids last night. Including several 11 year olds who are womanly. We're not talking the girlish winsomeness of DD1 and her lot, we're talking solid. Wouldn't want to get into a fight with that lot.

hattymattie · 11/07/2013 09:33

MI - I've consigned all T shirts to the back of my cupboard after seeing May holiday photo's of me looking "pregnant" next to gorg DD's (see previous ranty posts). I am now also looking at drapey - unfortunately drapey seems to mean viscose - hot and sweaty.

Crem - Grin at tropical ireland. I'm hoping for tropical north yorkshire next week.

BTM - need pictures of you in Boden dresses - esp second one. I'm eyeing the sorrento dress in pewter but it's still £66 Shock. Waiting for further reductions.

hattymattie · 11/07/2013 09:41

God DD's exam results online from 10 am. Of course it is now 10.40 and not a peep from the "maison des examens". There is a very high level of impatience and frustration with the little hatties at the moment

Cremolafoam · 11/07/2013 10:25

Oh good luck to small hatties this morning. I must say I find the online results thing a bit scary. It seems to add to the general terror.
Dd will be up an Alp in Chamonix when hers are out so I'm going to have to relay them to herShock

Rubes that's quite a haul for the money! When is singing trip?

Blackduck · 11/07/2013 11:24

Interesting article on teenage daughters in the Times today (would link, but think it is behind a paywall)

Could scan and email if anyone is particularly interested?

addle · 11/07/2013 13:11

who is it by, BD? general theme? x

motherinferior · 11/07/2013 13:12

Can someone explain Skype to me? Do I need to get New Stuff for it?

Blackduck · 11/07/2013 13:18

New book - decoding your teenage daughter- by some HT.

herbaceous · 11/07/2013 13:23

MI - from what I can gather, you just need to download the software, and then you can make phonecalls over the internetweb, for free. With a webcam, you can do face-to-face calls, similarly gratis.

herbaceous · 11/07/2013 14:39

BTW, met DS's new teacher on Monday. Did I say? Can't remember. Anyway - she's very nice, and made me feel much happier about the whole business. The building had been perked up, too, with some lovely artwork in the hall.

There's not much of a settling in period, though. First day starts at 9.40, ends at 3.15. Next day starts at normal time. That's it. Get on with it. I suppose it's better for parents, and possibly kiddies. Less of a palava.

Now perusing school uniform, as don't want to be caught short in September. But just looking at the trousers makes my eyes prickle. I had a feel of the school uniform trews in Sains (natch) but they seemed very stiff. Will rub his little legs raw.

hattymattie · 11/07/2013 14:40

Yay - super exam results. The junior Hatties are very happy. Smile It's like the destress zone here.

motherinferior · 11/07/2013 14:46

Hurrah for the Hattitudes!

addle · 11/07/2013 15:00

Hattymattie - congrats, how lovely!

BD - thank you

MI - is honestly very straightforward, you download the software, sign in and get going. I'm on it if you wanted someone to, um, have a go with. I can't always make the video bit work, ahem.

bigTillyMint · 11/07/2013 15:11

MI re Skype, DD worked it out OK so it can't be that difficultGrin

Herbs, parents round here would bite your arm off for a settling in period like that!

Well done little Hatties!

BD I would like to see the article, think I need to!

Had a lovely morning walking to Brixton and a quick coffee in Brixton Village before a meeting - felt like I was in the Real World (apparently us teachers aren't in the Real WorldWink)
