Yes mrs s just what did you get up to for 5 whole hours wandering the streets of the Belgian capital. ?Grin

MrsSchadenfreude · 06/07/2013 23:15

Well, Crem, drinking, obviously. Grin And eating, with my other Brux friends, that I wanted to introduce her to. Was a little bit pissed when I got in, have to admit.

They have this wonderful chain of shops in Brussels called Dod, which sells last season's designer stuff, and the children's one goes up to age 16. I bought DD2 a fabulous hoodie in there for 20 euros, which has "Back to the Friture" on it. I have just googled it and the full price on the website is 119 euros. Shock Grin It was a pity she wasn't with me as they had loads of stuff she would have liked - Moschino trainers for 20 euros, jeans, T shirts etc etc. Maybe we'll have a little trip this summer...

Cremolafoam · 06/07/2013 23:39

Morning Crepies! Family away for the day so whole day to myself ... the question is catch up with work that's stressing me out or lounge in the garden until Wimbledon on TV? Hmm! Think I'll fast today ... saved the hassle of cooking in this heat.
Have a great day, ladies, what ever you are doing.

Just back from clearing up the field after the festival - nothing like the smell of stale beer and rank food on a hot day (glad I wasn't hungover - just tired)
However, it didn't take too long and the marquee guys are finishing off.....
I appear to have signed myself up for the Committee for next year.
I will mostly not be cooking today (or this week - want to lose weight as hate my body at the moment, so please stop all talk of cake, burnt, sunken or otherwise :) )

CointreauVersial · 07/07/2013 14:38

Well done, BD. Better to be clearing up in the sunshine than in torrential rain and mud.

I'm taking a brief break indoors - we are off to a BBQ shortly, so I have plenty more outdoor toasting time to look forward to.

Cake is currently in the oven. Ruby, I also burnt the first one, so this one has been wearing a foil hat for the last 20 minutes. Still squishy in the middle, though (as am I....Grin ).

Cremolafoam · 07/07/2013 15:20

Well done bd

Oh dear I'm loaded with a wretched cold ,scratchy throat ,mild groaning.
It is a million degrees in the shade here and I am curled up in a dressing gown with a box of mansize Kleenex .
Boo
Dh is doing something to our tent- Confuseddds birthday celebrations have allegedly now moved into the tent plus summerhouse pending heatwave.

Wipes noseSad

bigTillyMint · 07/07/2013 15:53

Commiserations, Cremo! But the birthday tent sounds good - the party that DS went to in a tent involved no sleep, so we had a very quiet day the day after!

DD and DS went out separately with friends earlier, so DH and I went off for a cycle ride and people-watching in my fav local park. Felt strangely nostalgic for days gone by when the DC were small and wanted to spend time with usConfused

Stropperella · 07/07/2013 16:39

Phew, wot a scorcher etc etc. I have absorbed an unholy amount of prosecco today, whilst bbq-ing Aussie-style in my bikini and hat with corks. OK, no corks, but the rest is true. :) .
Dog is mucho disgruntled that our family has been augmented by Esmeralda, Marianne, Griselda and, er, Snowdrop. Cluck, cluck, cluck. Chickens looove chilled watermelon in hot weather, apparently. Not that I am going to become a Crepey fowl bore, or anything. [Grin]
Sorry to hear your Brussels break was a bit spoilt, MrsS.
Well done singers.

Stropperella · 07/07/2013 16:41

Gah, I canna do MN emoticons on me flash new smartphone, as it keeps foisting upper case on me.

bigTillyMint · 07/07/2013 16:59

Stropps, sounds like you're having a great daySmile

Apparently DS is at the Lido with 3 Y7's (like him) and 2 Y8's. All girlsHmm What is it about my DC and the opposite sex? At least DD is back home, safe and sound - sunbathing in the back "garden"!

MrsSchadenfreude · 07/07/2013 18:13

I have been to a free concert at the Musee du Quai Branly and finished it off with a champagne mojito on the way home. It went down very nicely.

I have Chicken Envy. I have always wanted chooks.

motherinferior · 07/07/2013 18:52

I am in the garden with a gin and tonic and the catGrin

herbaceous · 07/07/2013 19:41

Party now all over. DS spent a sizable part of it in his bedroom, and another sizable part bossing his friends and cousins around. He insisted on leading pass the parcel and musical bumps, rather than taking part, but seemed to enjoy it.

The MI cake was FARKING LUSH, and generally agreed as a culinary triumph.

DS's presents included a drum kit, trumpet and guitar, all of which he played during the last few vital games of the Murray match, which did rather diffuse the tension.

All clearing up just about done, thanks to DP, and lots of cake and expensive charcuterie to get through.

All in all, 9/10.

motherinferior · 07/07/2013 19:49

Phew re cakeGrin

Cremolafoam · 07/07/2013 20:42

Wink Wonders if Nigella will be making her own cake to celebrate her divorce from Throttler Saatchi
Ahem
As you were

Blackduck · 07/07/2013 20:45

But he's disappointed she didn't stand by him...

I shall start diet tomorrow - wine and tapas here :). (I wish I could take the week off)

bigTillyMint · 07/07/2013 21:17

CremoGrin

No wish to own any chooks - I have something of phobia of birds.

My diet always starts tomorrow too, BD!

MrsSchadenfreude · 07/07/2013 21:20

Peeps, I am thinking ahead here to next summer. DD1's school breaks up in early June, and DD2's in mid July. What can DD1 do for that 6 week period? She will be 15. I was thinking of asking if she could do some voluntary work at Vauxhall City Farm. Any other cheap ideas?

bigTillyMint · 07/07/2013 21:28

No, but I am watching for ideas too as DD will be 15 next summer holsShock
However, I doubt DD would want to volunteer at the farm!
