A well fitting, smart/sexy and preferably push-up bra size 38A... impossible???

I am sooo fed up with trying to find a well fitting bra, preferably nice looking and adding a bit of "volume" in my size...
I'm starting to feel like a freak!
Am i really the only person in the world with really small breasts and a slightly larger ribcage?
Every bra I find is either too tight around my chest or has gaping cups. I need a wired one as any others leave me looking completely flat-chested.
Any suggestions of shops or online retailers would be greatly appreciated!

F! Wow. Thank you. Smile

SpaceLInvader · 30/06/2013 20:26

Hi,
I'm 37 around and 42 when leaning forward. Currently wear a 38A, is this right or should I try something different!
Thanks!

EMUZ · 30/06/2013 20:34

Space - try a 38D and a 36DD. You may find a 36 better

EMUZ · 30/06/2013 20:35

I'd also try a 36E and a 38DD

IShallWearMidnight · 30/06/2013 20:36

I was Bravissimo-ed a couple of years ago, but tbh wasn't hugely impressed - they sized me pretty well, but weren't very helpful with styles to suit. So I'm turning to MN after some [ahem] weight changes Wink

37 ribcage, 48 dangling - what does that make me? I have a 36FF which isn't too bad, but even though I scoop like a madwoman, it all slides back round to the side, so I'm thinking the Curvey Kate recommended further down for wide boobs would be a good starting point.

SpaceLInvader · 30/06/2013 20:39

Wow! Thanks EMUZ!

SorrelForbes · 30/06/2013 20:39

Hmmm, I'd try a 36HH, 36H, 38H and a 38GG for starters. Your boobs are probably sliding back as the cups are too small and the back (possibly) too big.

SorrelForbes · 30/06/2013 20:41

Sorry that was for Ishall. Just noticed you are already wearing a 36 so ignore the 38 suggestions! Sounds like there's not enough room in the cup to hold everything. You may actually want to think about trying a 34?

IShallWearMidnight · 30/06/2013 20:46

thanks Sorrel - I'll have to go shopping I think Grin. A 34 back is probably too tight at the moment, even with bigger cups as there is also some a lot of excess flesh as well as migrating boobage so I'll start with the 36es.

BustyDeLaGhetto · 30/06/2013 20:48

This thread is blowing my MIND. Have just measured. I wear 36A but I measure 35 and 38 around boobs. They are far apart though, like fish eyes :(

StatisticallyChallenged · 30/06/2013 20:51

Busty, try a 34C, 34D, 36C and 36B. And lots of scooping.

StatisticallyChallenged · 30/06/2013 20:52

Ishall, do not rule out 34s because of backfat as with scooping a well fitted bra makes it better not worse. My backfat is worse in the size above than in the correct size - photographic evidence upthread.

BustyDeLaGhetto · 30/06/2013 20:53

Dude, thank you. INTERVENTION FACE

PoppyWearer · 30/06/2013 20:53

Another one here just had my eyes opened. My measurements after bf'ing two DCs are 33 and 38. Very saggy and far apart!

I also thought I was a 38A BlushBlush

StatisticallyChallenged · 30/06/2013 20:59

Poppywearer, try a 32DD, 32E, 34DD and 34D. The smaller band will give you so much more support.

totiredtosleep · 30/06/2013 21:21

From reading this thread I'm guessing i'm wearing completely the wrong size! Currently wearing a 34DD

Measure 30 under and 37" over, does that mean I should wear a 30F?

Wahtawah · 30/06/2013 21:26

Interesting thread!

I'm currently wearing 36A. Measure 33 under and 37 over. Am I right that I should consider 34C?

GinOnTwoWheels · 30/06/2013 21:26

What puzzles me is the huge disparity between women's actual measurements and sizing needs and what is available in the shops.

I would say I am medium build with medium boobs - I am 5 foot 7 but quite fine boned but in no way petite and I am a 30 or 32 back size and probably something around an E/F cup. The Bravissimo lady described me as 'having a narrow back'.

There are plenty of women with much smaller build than me, as are some with larger bones/ribcage. Equally there are plenty of women with larger or smaller boobs than me. Like I said, I am probably as average/medium as they come.

But when I look in the shops, the vast majority of bras start at back size 34, with a few 32s and hardly any 30s and below - where do all those tiny tiny petite slim women (5'2, size 6-8) buy their bras - their back size must be 28 at most and yet I've never seen this size anywhere?

And for those ladies with much bigger breasts than me - why is it so surprising if they are a G/H/J cup - if I am medium at E/F cup, it follows that there will be bigger sizes than this.

StatisticallyChallenged · 30/06/2013 21:30

totired, yes start with 30F, wahtawah...try a 32FF, 32D, 34D and 34C. Don't be scared of the small back or the big cups

Ginontwowheels....the way most shops are fitting is a HUGE part of the problem. The whole insisting on adding 4-5" that most retailers do means that the true 28s are getting stuck in 34s, the 30s in 36s etc and in much smaller cups as a result. I went for a trial fitting at M&S, and as a 30HH/J they stuck me in a 36F. It was awful. This was the end of the day and I caught sight of their fitting sheet, and they had not fitted anyone at less than a 34 all day

SorrelForbes · 30/06/2013 21:31

where do all those tiny tiny petite slim women (5'2, size 6-8) buy their bras They buy bras at Top Shop, M&S, etc, in a 36A as that's what they've been fitted as. It's so depressing.*

New Look and BHS stock Curvy Kate FFS but only from a 32 band up!

I'm on the M-L end of the scale (size 14ish but can easily be a 16 in trousers) and I'm a firm 30. I own 2 32 back bras in total, and I own a lot of bras.

EMUZ · 30/06/2013 21:43

I am a solid hourglass, broad shoulders with huge wrists/feet etc and a size 16. Even I wear a 32 or 34 band
