A well fitting, smart/sexy and preferably push-up bra size 38A... impossible???

I am sooo fed up with trying to find a well fitting bra, preferably nice looking and adding a bit of "volume" in my size...
I'm starting to feel like a freak!
Am i really the only person in the world with really small breasts and a slightly larger ribcage?
Every bra I find is either too tight around my chest or has gaping cups. I need a wired one as any others leave me looking completely flat-chested.
Any suggestions of shops or online retailers would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you! I shall report back

Hi great advice you're giving girls fair play. I got measured a few years ago and was 30dd. Measured myself this morning and I'm 29.5 and 35. Bras still seem to fit mostly but I can never stop the straps from falling down no matter how much I fiddle. Is it the style of bra I need to change? I'm a small frame, size 6 to 8. Any advice appreciated xx

StatisticallyChallenged · 16/08/2014 11:46

Did you take the underbust measurement standing upright, and tight?

Feckinlego · 16/08/2014 12:05

Yes I did. If I squeeze really tight I could get 29. Also something I realised is I always use the last clasp, both on old and new. Tried first clasp on a fairly new bra there and I have underarm spillage. Any help would b great x

StatisticallyChallenged · 16/08/2014 12:21

If you are going straight to the tightest clasp, and your straps are falling down, you need to try moving down to a 28. Balconette bras have wider set straps than plunges or full cups as a rule but the majority of straps falling down is due to the band size being too big.

With your measurements I'd try a 28E and 28F. Underarm spillage suggests that the cup on the 30DD is actually slightly small so the 28F is more likely

Feckinlego · 16/08/2014 12:31

Wood hoo I was hoping u would say that, have to go shopping now! Thanks again for the advice xx

Libby27 · 01/09/2014 15:07

Please please please help! I'm rubbish at this bra fitting thing and I've never ever owned a bra that actually fits...ever! I've always just worn a 34a....it doesn't fit at all, gaps in cup, straps falling down the lot. I was measured today and told I'm a 36aa....seriously?? I'm small framed, size 8-10 can I really need a 36?? Well I tried the only 36aa bra in the entire shop and ok the cup seemed to fit but as for the band it felt huge. I came home convinced this is wrong and measured myself (32under bust, just over 33 bust when standing and 35 when leaning over) please what size does this make me? I've tried lots of online calculates and everyone gave me a different size!

M&s funnily enough

HazleNutt · 01/09/2014 15:29

36 Shock you can probably wrap it around you at least twice.

Libby27 · 01/09/2014 15:31

I tried the 36 aa on and she stood there telling me how much better the 36 fit was on me when I could literally fit both fists in it at the same time as wearing it. I was soooo confused especially as she was apparently specially trained

ilovepowerhoop · 01/09/2014 16:36

I am a size 20 with a 36 back size bra so no way is that right for you. M&S add 4/5 inches to the back measurement and therefore give you a bra too big in the back and too small in the cup.

KristinaM · 02/09/2014 08:30

Libby , I'm not an expert but I'm also a small framed 8-10. I measure 31" under bust but I always wear a 30 in a bra . It's a little tight at first, but soon loosens off and I can move to the tighter hook aftre a few months .

If I buy a 32 , it does t give me enough support from the band as I have big norks and it's loose aftre a few weeks . I buy a 32 in a bikini ( as I don't get much wear out of them and don't want back fat ) and a sports bras ( as they are smaller made and have less stretch in the band) .

Obviously your cup size will depend on the size of your breasts and the best style for you will depend on your shape.

So if I were you I woudl start with a 30 and whatever letter the girls here advise. Remember , it's not a guarantee that any random bra you pick up in any shop size eg 30DD will fit you. It means that you should take 10 bras size 30DD into the fitting room as a starting point and work from there .

Yes the band will feel tight if you have been wearing one 6 inches too big . Yes you will have marks when you take your bra off at night, that's normal. Don't you have marks where your knickers understand jeans and socks have been too? But it shouldn't be sore or rub. And you should have a much better shape under clothes

Libby27 · 02/09/2014 11:35

I don't really have much to support! Lol! I'm very small chested and at the moment (well all my life) bras are just irritating, annoying and totally inconvenient.... Honestly m&s measured me at a 36 aa and all that does is drive me insane the band is huge on me, I got measured some where else before and was told 34a...I have a 34a on right now and I've spent all morning fiddling with the straps as they will not stay up, constantly trying to re adjust the band as it just moves around, and it's just like having extra pockets or storage space on the front of me!

funkychick29 · 07/09/2014 09:45

Hi all

Have read the full range of posts and still slightly stuck on my bra-intervention!

Underbust - 33
Across boobs - 39 (when bent over)

32 band is definitely too tight... tried a 34DD which is slightly tight but not sure how tight is supposed to be comfortable? Also tried a 36D but after 10 mins in it, it was slightly big...

I used to wear a 38B perfectly and now that I've lost a bit of weight, my boobs have gone crazy! So decided research and a full remeasure was in order...!

Any advice Sorrell or SC?

P.S. Not a mum - aged 27 right now Smile

ilovepowerhoop · 07/09/2014 15:39

what cup sizes did you try in the 32 back? Did you try 32E and 32F as that what your measurements suggest you should have tried?

In a 34 back you should have tried 34DD and 34E

funkychick29 · 07/09/2014 15:49

Tried 32E and 32F - both very tight - for fun, I tried 32FF which was definitely too big in the cup.

Tried 34DD and 34E, the 34DD seems to fit best (but slightly tight) - 34E has gap in the cups.

The centre never seems to sit perfectly against my sternum... could be because of my pigeon chest but was hoping for a little reassurance.

Thanks x

ilovepowerhoop · 07/09/2014 15:59

might be a style issue then. Where did you go to try bras and what kind did you try e.g. t-shirt, full cup, plunge, etc and what brands? The middle bit not sitting flat tends to mean the cup is too small

funkychick29 · 07/09/2014 16:14

M&S - I did NOT have a bra fit - but I like the push-up plunge ones - they suit my boobs best.

I also tried a t-shirt one and several different plunges, including a balcony plunge. One of the plunges sat perfectly against my sternum but did nothing for enhancing my chest (I like some oomph). All of the above in a variety surrounding 34DD and yep, the one that sat perfectly was a 34DD.

I went in earlier this afternoon, after posting my original message on here.

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/09/2014 20:05

Libby I'm a size 8 and take a 28D, when the bands tight enough the straps don't fall down.

Tipsykisses · 13/09/2014 15:55

Can any one help ?

I've measured according to the info & I'm a 34 under & 45 over , I normally wear a 34 or 36E but I've horrible bits under my arm puts and as soon as I move around I am coming out of the top plus the dreaded back flab in some of my bras .

I've breastfed my dc so not as perky as I was but I have quite wide boobs I think .

Help !!! What size should I wear ?

phonebox · 13/09/2014 16:04

Tipsy you need a much bigger cup - try 34J online as a starting point, perhaps 34K

Tipsykisses · 13/09/2014 16:18

OMG really !?!?Blush

I read all about scooping so did that in my 34E and well let's just say the girls were peeping over the wall !!!

Is that why I have those fleshy bits under my arms ?
I've been so self conscious I've worn sleeves all summer .

Gosh don't know where to start !
Thanks for replying .Thanks

SorrelForbes · 13/09/2014 16:44

More like a 34H Tippsy

Funkychic, if 32 bands are definitely too tight (try them on back to front to check) you need to try 34DD/E
