A well fitting, smart/sexy and preferably push-up bra size 38A... impossible???

I am sooo fed up with trying to find a well fitting bra, preferably nice looking and adding a bit of "volume" in my size...
I'm starting to feel like a freak!
Am i really the only person in the world with really small breasts and a slightly larger ribcage?
Every bra I find is either too tight around my chest or has gaping cups. I need a wired one as any others leave me looking completely flat-chested.
Any suggestions of shops or online retailers would be greatly appreciated!

That's fantastic, thanks for those suggestions StatisticallyChallenged Smile. Should I try these all in 36DD (I measured 37 under and 42 over)?

StatisticallyChallenged · 02/07/2014 19:46

I'd try 36DD to start with - measurements would suggest you might even need an E (maybe in the Alana as it runs a bit wee)

MrsTucker71 · 02/07/2014 20:00

Righto. Thanks for all your help, much appreciated Smile

rachael1609 · 03/07/2014 18:34

33 underneath and 38 when leaning over. My boobs are the small, pointy, slide under the arm type :S Been wearing a 36 A and they're quite gappy in the cup...

thepurplepenguin · 03/07/2014 18:59

So inspired by this thread I walked into the John Lewis fitting rooms this morning wearing a 32C from M&S (I'd had to beat them down from a 34B a few months ago). I thought I was probably more like a 30D really. Walked out with two 30E bras!! Indescribably better!

TimeForAnotherNameChange · 03/07/2014 20:47

rachael1609 - try 32DD and E and 34D and DD. Your A cup is gappy because the band is four inches too big!

nixrobin67 · 06/07/2014 16:30

Ok my measurements are 36 around and 40 in the boob. What size should I buy? Been wearing 38a

StatisticallyChallenged · 06/07/2014 16:52

Try a 36D based on those measurements . How does your 38A fit?

littlewhitebag · 06/07/2014 22:07

Okay you lovely bra fitter people. I have been inspired to bare my all and measure the norks. I was 37.5 underneath and 45 letting it all hang down. I think i am currently wearing a 40 B or C. What should i be trying on?

I generally hate all bra's except particular soft cup ones from M&S as they never fit right. I would love some sexy, sassy bra's in the right size.

StatisticallyChallenged · 06/07/2014 22:23

The reason you probably hate all bras is because you're in the wrong size Smile - underwires that don't fit are a bitch!

I would recommend trying 36G, 36FF, 38FF and 38F. I suspect the 36s might be better.

littlewhitebag · 06/07/2014 22:26

Thank you. I will try some in those sizes next time i go shopping.

Craftyduchess · 08/07/2014 12:59

I'm submitting myself to the Bra Gurus! I've read the blog, I've read this whole thread and I'm still baffled.

I measured 29/30 underneath and 38 over.

I can't believe I'm a 30FF. I don't even know where to shop for something that size! It seems huge! I've been wearing a 34D which doesn't fit. Otherwise I don't wear a bra, I wear a all-in-one body suit (like a 1 piece swimsuit) which is to hold all the belly fat in. It's comfortable but not sexy! and I want to look sexy (and be comfortable) for onceWink.

So Bra Gurus, where am I going wrong?

StatisticallyChallenged · 08/07/2014 13:05

If it helps to get your head around it, a 34d is designed for someone who measures 38 around the bust -but more like 34 under it. So it won't really be giving you much support which a 30 will. Have a look at the bra band project website -real women in properly fitting bras so you can see that a 30ff isn't huge.

Craftyduchess · 08/07/2014 13:22

Thanks Statistically, I had a look at the bra band project. It's good but I don't see my body shape really in the women who share my 'correct' size but I think I need to physically try things on. Where is a good place to try on a 30FF in person? Any brands which are better, ect? I feel like a novice and not someone who's been wearing bras for many years!

I'm in London if that helps!

StatisticallyChallenged · 08/07/2014 13:29

Get yourself to bravissimo if you are in London, they're fab.

StatisticallyChallenged · 08/07/2014 13:31

Should say -they sell a good range of brands so you can work out what suits as it's not just about the size but the shape and style.

Zepherial · 08/07/2014 13:40

Mmmm so I have been wearing after being measured a 34 b for a life time. I do have a 32 d which feels a little tight but better then the previous. My measurements are 29 36, go on tell me some good news!

Zepherial · 08/07/2014 13:45

Oops could of done with some punctuation there.

StatisticallyChallenged · 08/07/2014 13:48

Try 28f, 28ff, 30f and 30e to start with.

ouryve · 08/07/2014 13:50

You should be around about a 28FF or a 30F, I think.

Zepherial · 08/07/2014 13:50

Wow, just wow. Really 28f, that is huge, do bras actually come in those sizes? I live in a place with no shops, where would I find a bra in any of those sizes?

ouryve · 08/07/2014 13:50

Slow at posting Blush

ouryve · 08/07/2014 13:53

I don't have good access to shops selling decent bras (a small M&S and that's it) so tend to order a bunch from brastop or figleaves and send back the ones that are no good. Figleaves do free returns, so long as you have something full price in your order.

Zepherial · 08/07/2014 13:53

Don't worry I needed telling twice! I am truly gob smacked that I have been measured 34b 3 times and am nowhere near the right size.

Zepherial · 08/07/2014 13:54

Okay that's good to know, it is my birthday soon so I know what I will be buying. Thanks ladies.
