A well fitting, smart/sexy and preferably push-up bra size 38A... impossible???

I am sooo fed up with trying to find a well fitting bra, preferably nice looking and adding a bit of "volume" in my size...
I'm starting to feel like a freak!
Am i really the only person in the world with really small breasts and a slightly larger ribcage?
Every bra I find is either too tight around my chest or has gaping cups. I need a wired one as any others leave me looking completely flat-chested.
Any suggestions of shops or online retailers would be greatly appreciated!

i'm wearing a push up new look bra, i need a bra that boosts my cleavage
i haven't got any saggyness just tiny boobs

SorrelForbes · 01/07/2014 14:01

If you need a 30 it doesn't make that much sense, IMHO, to wear a 32.

Your measurements suggest trying a 28DD/E and 30D/DD. Have you scooped?

The cup volume of your 32B is equal to that of a 30C and a 28D so smaller than the sizes I've listed above. However, t-shirt bras (especially the padded/moulded type) are quite difficult to get a good fit with as they don't mould to your shape IYSWIM?

This isn't a bra I'm familiar with as it doesn't cater for small bands sizes however other plain t-shirt bras with a soft feel include the Cleo Juna, Curvy Kate Daily Boost, Cleo Maddie, Fantasie Rebecca.

I'd also suggest trying some unpadded styles as they often give the best shape/lift. Bravissimo own brand styles are very good as is the Cleo range. You may want to look at brands like Freya too.

lizzie47 The sizing on high street/fashion brand bras is notoriously random!

Good bras for cleavage include the Freya Deco, Lepel Fiore padded plunge, Curvy Kate Elegance and Bravissimo Satine.

You may find that you get gaping with the Deco as it is a moulded style.

SorrelForbes · 01/07/2014 14:05

lizzie47 Are you near a JL or a Bravissimo? I would really recommend going in and trying lots of bras in the sizes I've suggested. You almost certainly are not below a D cup!

bonkersLFDT20 · 01/07/2014 14:14

Thanks sorrel. Scooping makes no difference. I will have a look at the ones you suggest.
I like the way padded ones cover cold nipples.

While I'm here, can you suggest what I'm doing wrong with balcony bras. I always find that my nipples show over the top - which is not a good look!

One thing I struggle with is that I find the cups and straps set too far apart. I guess I am quite narrow. Is there a brand which is good for that sort of thing?

Plumpippin · 01/07/2014 14:15

I've been wearing a 38d since having dd and being measured in m&s. Bras never feel that comfortable but I've just put up with it, I've done the measurements and it's 38 and 45 what size should I be wearing ?

TimeForAnotherNameChange · 01/07/2014 14:22

Plumpippin - I'd suggest starting with a 38F and 36FF.

SorrelForbes · 01/07/2014 14:25

bonkersLFDT20 Nipples showing over the top of a balconette style bra indicates a too small cup. Straps that are too far apart indicates too big a band but can sometimes be a style issue as well.

Balconette bras have straps that are wider set but you may not find it so much of an issue in a 28 or 30 band.

Thankyou bra shopping tomorrow Smile

Cheers for your help Sorrell!

MrsTucker71 · 01/07/2014 16:57

Thank you marriednotdead. I'll try a 36DD/E and see how I get on Smile

Kormachameleon Those of us with squidgier torsos often need a smaller band than we measure. I suspect that a 38 and possibly a 36 would be fine on you. I'd start with a 38L (Bravissimo Alana would be a good one to try). If the cup is too small you could try the 40 and then adjust the band to make it smaller.

Elomi (Eveden group who also make Fauve, Freya and Fantasie) got up to a 46 band but stop at HH cups which is annoying!

Hmm, you might not get in so well with the Alana as it's not that great for top fullness however I would still try it as it goes to an L cup. Something with more open cups might suit you better. Boudoir beau (bravissimo) goes up to a K but has a much softer top section so might work. Panache Jasmine might too. I've also heard good things about Fantasie Salsa

Bra intervention measuring came up with 38HH for me Shock

Currently in a 40E and it fits ok-ish so didn't believe it for a minute that jumping EE, F, FF, G, GG, H -> HH cup size was right!!!

Ordered a few 38FF and G (G was just incase!). Band is perfect, and the gore is sitting nice and flat, but G cup is still slightly too small! So have sent back and ordered 38 GG and H (still cant accept HH yet).

Even with the cups not quite right yet it was very noticeable how much less weight there was over the shoulder straps.

Lets hope I get the right size before Figleaves gets fed up with all my returns!

Thank you for your help!

SorrelForbes · 01/07/2014 21:23

WeAllHaveWings It's the scooping

MrsTucker71 · 02/07/2014 17:14

Right, funds allowing, I ordered a Playtex Flower Lace Balconet size 36DD and an Ultimo The One also in 36DD which arrived today. The band size on both were fine but the Playtex cups were still very baggy even after scooping and frankly I found it a very uncomfortable bra. The Ultimo One was a little better however after scooping there was still a noticeable gap at the top on both sides. I did find this bra quite comfortable though. Not really sure what I should try next.....maybe come down to a D cup? Any help and suggestions would be appreciated Smile

StatisticallyChallenged · 02/07/2014 17:33

If the gaping is only at the top if may be a style issue -are your boobs quite bottom heavy or have they dropped a little due to children and gravity? Some bras have quite tall cups and especially ones which are quite moulded can't adapt to your shape so you end up filling the bottom but having space at the top.

MrsTucker71 · 02/07/2014 18:07

StatisticallyChallenged Yes my boobs are a little bottom heavy and have dropped due to having my son (14) and gravity! They have always been quite small though hence why I thought I was only an A cup! Are there any styles that you would suggest and should these be in a 38DD? The Ultimo is quite moulded so would I be wasting my time if I were to try this style in a 38D?

StatisticallyChallenged · 02/07/2014 19:03

I'd suggest a balconette style is probably better - would you say your boobs are quite narrow or do they do round under your arms?

MrsTucker71 · 02/07/2014 19:21

No, boobs are not narrow and do go round under my arms but not massively!

StatisticallyChallenged · 02/07/2014 19:26

Ok, few suggestions:
Freya Patsy half cup
Freya gem half cup
Cleo Juna
Bravissimo branded half cups
Bravissimo Alana
