A well fitting, smart/sexy and preferably push-up bra size 38A... impossible???

I am sooo fed up with trying to find a well fitting bra, preferably nice looking and adding a bit of "volume" in my size...
I'm starting to feel like a freak!
Am i really the only person in the world with really small breasts and a slightly larger ribcage?
Every bra I find is either too tight around my chest or has gaping cups. I need a wired one as any others leave me looking completely flat-chested.
Any suggestions of shops or online retailers would be greatly appreciated!

OK, your measurements suggest a starting point of a 38FF however given what you say about the band I would suggest you should actually try a 36 too, probably in a G cup to start with

Afternoon Sorrel!

Good afternoon Stats. Grin

Thnks, this could be a shopping challenge!!

Does anyone know of a custom made bra provider?

BeerHunter · 19/02/2014 17:34

Wow! Thank you. I am really excited about going bra shopping now.

VelmaD · 19/02/2014 17:45

I measure 33/34 and around 40 when leaning forwards - I mostly wear a 34E and have no real issue with them as bras (have learnt the shape that suits my boobs it seems) and no digging in/backache etc - am I along the right lines with this size then?

FunkyBarnYard · 19/02/2014 17:46

Any tips on what type of bra I should buy??

I usually buy the padded bras that increase the size of the boob but if I am not really an a cup a better fitting bra might do that for me anyway? Is that right?

StatisticallyChallenged · 19/02/2014 17:48

velmad 34e is in the right area certainly

Funky try a balcony or balconette while you are working out size. Once all your boob is in the cup you will probably find you dont need the padding

spleenyone · 19/02/2014 17:49

Please can I join in? Measuring 39 under then 45 - I think. Currently in a very old washed out 38b. Help!

StatisticallyChallenged · 19/02/2014 18:00

your poor boobies. Try a 38F as a start point

spleenyone · 19/02/2014 18:04

Thank you statistically! I must do something about this. Should I just order some bras in that size online or is it worth a trip to bravissimo?

StatisticallyChallenged · 19/02/2014 18:11

If you have an accessible bravissimo then go. That's a rough size but it's only a start point - we're becoming pretty good at working out sizes from measurements and a few tests and descriptions but Bravissimo will basically look at the bra you are wearing and work out from there what you need.

spleenyone · 19/02/2014 19:21

Thanks. I've no idea if I've even done the measuring right so should probably make an effort to get to the shop. Even if I did order online what are the chances of me getting the right style and size and fit etc. This is such a revelation though. Thanks again.

chocolatemoose1993 · 20/02/2014 00:01

Can I join in ? I've just measured : 31 under, 40 ish over. Not sure how accurate the over measurement is though - I found it difficult to tell if I had the tape measure straight :0s

Currently wearing a 34C (fitted in M&S), which definitely doesn't fit, scooping results in a very interesting multi-boob situation Blush

StatisticallyChallenged · 20/02/2014 06:09

Start with 30gg, 30g,32g and 32ff

HazleNutt · 20/02/2014 08:27

People who have been stuffed into ridiculous sizes by M&S - after you have found your correct size, if you have the time, would you mind tweeting/emailing/FBing M&S and telling them that their whole system and bra fitter training is wrong?
I know it's probably a futile effort, but if there is just a tiny, little chance that they will see the light, this would save the next generations from badly fitting bras.

2gorgeousboys · 20/02/2014 08:59

Can I join in too please? I've just measured 30 under and 36.5 over (hope I measured right!).

I'm currently wearing a 34b but I find it rides up during the day but if I lengthen the straps I lose any shape at all.

StatisticallyChallenged · 20/02/2014 09:04

30e and f

2gorgeousboys · 20/02/2014 09:08

e and f really? Shock right off bra shopping.

Thank you for your help StatisticallyChallenged.

chocolatemoose1993 · 20/02/2014 09:19

Shock yikes, ok ! Thankyou Smile
Another question if that's ok - I don't really like wearing underwired bras (my auntie died of breast cancer and was told that rubbing / poking bra wires were probably a contributing factor; so I'm very wary). Does a non-wired bra in a 30g exist, or do I need to just get wired ones and make sure they fit really well ?

HazleNutt · 20/02/2014 09:25

non-wired bras will not offer nearly the same fit, lift and support. There is no scientific evidence that underwire causes cancer.

StatisticallyChallenged · 20/02/2014 09:28

My understanding is that well fitted wires are totally safe-they should never be sitting on breast tissue though, the wire should run just outside the breast. There are a few non wired but at a 30g you will get far less support. They should never poke breast tissue either

Personally I wear wires but am generally braless at home.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 20/02/2014 09:30

Oh, can I have a bra intervention?

I've never in my life found a bra that fits me! I have a whole selection of the things that are either too big/small, baggy, four boob creating etc etc.

I'll need to locate a tape measure though Blush

chocolatemoose1993 · 20/02/2014 09:32

Thanks for your help Hazle and Statistically, I'm off to order some bras !

princessalbert · 20/02/2014 09:33

Watch this video clip

bra style

the first woman measured 30 around her rib cage , but the fitter put her in a 34.

It didn't show the tape measurements for the subsequent women, but no. 3 and 4 in particular were very slim - and in no way were they a 34 anything.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 20/02/2014 09:33

When you say 'lean forward' how far am I leaning? After feeding DS2&3 my boobs can vary a lot in their position depending on how far I'm leaning forward! :D

I think I need a diagram Blush
