A well fitting, smart/sexy and preferably push-up bra size 38A... impossible???

I am sooo fed up with trying to find a well fitting bra, preferably nice looking and adding a bit of "volume" in my size...
I'm starting to feel like a freak!
Am i really the only person in the world with really small breasts and a slightly larger ribcage?
Every bra I find is either too tight around my chest or has gaping cups. I need a wired one as any others leave me looking completely flat-chested.
Any suggestions of shops or online retailers would be greatly appreciated!

I doubt if they'll laugh at you (if they do, flounce out in style!).

However, not all lingerie shop fitters are well trained and many do use the old +4/5" method. If they come at you with a tape measure and then add inches, run! I'd go in and ask to try some 30Fs and then go from there, asking their opinion if they seem knowledgeable. Make sure you try the bra on back to front first to check the band fit.

this is a revelation. .. im off to find my tape measure. I'll be back! Grin Grin

ALovelyBunch0fCoconuts · 18/02/2014 21:02

im a 34 under and a 39 over, bent at 90°.

my boobs are tiny and I prefer to wear push up/padded bras. I am back fat city and always try to scoop but it all just travels back.

im going to faint if you say a D Grin

ALovelyBunch0fCoconuts · 18/02/2014 21:03

oh and im currently in a 34b Sad

StatisticallyChallenged · 18/02/2014 21:07

erm...34DD actually!

It's travelling back because there's no room for it in the cup!

ALovelyBunch0fCoconuts · 18/02/2014 21:09

wowser!

I havemt read this whole thread so apologies for making you repeat stuff but where is best to try bras on? what brands are best? I live in a small town with not much choice.

I dont know how I could possibly be a DD!!!! Grin Grin Grin Confused

StatisticallyChallenged · 18/02/2014 21:15

Do you have a Debenhams or JOhn Lewis? Any department stores at all?

ALovelyBunch0fCoconuts · 18/02/2014 21:17

nope. just crappy shops like peacocks/new look/DP.

there is one bra shop that might be the best bet.

there was a brilliant independent underwear shop but it shut down unfortunately.

ALovelyBunch0fCoconuts · 18/02/2014 21:18

ive also just shared this with my friend who has tje biggest breasts ive ever seen and also my mum Grin

ALovelyBunch0fCoconuts · 18/02/2014 21:19

oh and does it make a difference if I buy tshirt style bras? or uber padded ones? I prefer that feel/look to thin material.

god ive never bought anything bigger than a b!

StatisticallyChallenged · 18/02/2014 21:27

When you're trying to get the fit right t shirt bras aren't the best simply because they don't adapt to your body shape. So you can get gaping which isn't due to size, but bra shape. Start with a balcony or balconette for trying to work out your size then experiment with t shirts.
34DD is a fairly standard size so you should be able to find them in New look or the bra shop but watch out for the fitter in the wee shop!

ALovelyBunch0fCoconuts · 18/02/2014 21:30

what would a 37 under and 49 over be? Grin

ALovelyBunch0fCoconuts · 18/02/2014 21:30

36J?

ALovelyBunch0fCoconuts · 18/02/2014 21:34

I do like a balconette actually so ill start from there Smile thank you so much this is the best news ever for me! Grin

StatisticallyChallenged · 18/02/2014 21:36

yup start with 36J

FunkyBarnYard · 18/02/2014 21:42

Tomorrow I am buying a fabric tape measure. I currently wear a 38a moulded padded bra which gives the illusion of 2 cup sizes larger as I don't feel I have boobs!

I'll be back

coffeewithcreamm · 19/02/2014 07:52

I'm so pleased I've found this thread, I've worn a 36d for years but never felt I have enought oomph! Tried on some 34ds the other day and it was like my puppies had escaped.

I'd be so grateful if you could tell me what a 32 under & 38 over might be, please?

Nojustalurker · 19/02/2014 08:00

32c

SorrelForbes · 19/02/2014 08:08

coffeewithcreamm Try a 32E. However, this is only one cup bigger (volume wise) from the 34D so you may even need a 32F.

coffeewithcreamm · 19/02/2014 08:20

Thank you so much! I'll try that. I've done the scooping today, a revelation!

coffeewithcreamm · 19/02/2014 08:23

Has this already been answered? Apologies if so. Is a DD cup not a whole size up from a D, just a slight difference?

StatisticallyChallenged · 19/02/2014 08:49

A dd is a full cup up, but as you go down a band size you go up a cup size to maintain the same volume. So a 34d has the same boob storage capacity as a 32dd although the shape will differ.

princessalbert · 19/02/2014 08:56

This info on mn was a revelation to me. I always wore a 36B. Because that's how I was measured as a teen (in M&S!).

I currently rock a 32E. Much perkier.

BUT - why are these sizes so hard to find in general shops. It seems if one wants a DD/E cup the band sizes don't start until 34 or 36. It's very annoying, as it means that cheap bras are impossible to find.

HazleNutt · 19/02/2014 09:06

princess because exactly like you, most 32E women are wearing the 36B bras M&S stuffed them in Grin
Spread the word and once more women find their right size, shops must review their stock as well.

coffeewithcreamm · 19/02/2014 09:27

Thank you for that info, you're all a mine of info!
