A well fitting, smart/sexy and preferably push-up bra size 38A... impossible???

I am sooo fed up with trying to find a well fitting bra, preferably nice looking and adding a bit of "volume" in my size...
I'm starting to feel like a freak!
Am i really the only person in the world with really small breasts and a slightly larger ribcage?
Every bra I find is either too tight around my chest or has gaping cups. I need a wired one as any others leave me looking completely flat-chested.
Any suggestions of shops or online retailers would be greatly appreciated!

Try a a 32E/DD and a 34D/DD

123chee · 12/01/2014 11:32

Thank you!

Il0vecheese · 17/02/2014 09:54

I've just come across this email thread by searching for a size 38A bra as I am so fed up with not being able to find one and seeing 'statistically challenged' really interesting post! (so thank you 'Justkeeponsmiling' for your post otherwise I may never have seen this!)

So, I have just measured myself as advised and I am 36 around the chest and 43 around the boobs....
What does this mean?

SorrelForbes · 17/02/2014 10:16

Try a 36F as a starting point but be prepared to try a 36FF too and perhaps a 34FF in some brands.

Make sure you test the band first by trying it on back to front first before sorting the cups. You may well need a bigger cup in some styles than suggested above!

hollyisalovelyname · 17/02/2014 13:06

I thought I was 38 C. Rigby and Peller fitter said I was a 34 DD or 34 E. but it felt uncomfortabe so I still wear 38 C. Though I am mortified carrying 38 C to the till and hope I don't meet anyone I know Smile

StatisticallyChallenged · 17/02/2014 13:09

Holly you probably just need to try some different bras/brands - if anything r&p are occasionally a little on the loose side. what do you measure?

Il0vecheese · 17/02/2014 14:25

Thank you SorrelForbes, are you really sure I would be a 36F/FF? I feel i've trouble filling a B cup!

SorrelForbes · 17/02/2014 14:53

Il0vecheese Have you been wearing a 36B? How does it feel if you put it on back to front? How far from your body can pull the band? If you put it on the right way round and scoop, is there any overspill? I suspect there must be.

Il0vecheese · 17/02/2014 17:36

SorrelForbes, I found a 36B bra and you were right, there was lots of overspill and lots of room around the band too! Thank you. Looking forward to trying on different bras now!

hollyisalovelyname · 17/02/2014 21:34

Statistically in R&P the assistant brought quite a few brands of bra to try. I just didn't like how the bra felt at 34DD / 34 E. Too tight.
House of Fraser assistant also put me in the sizes above.
I'll stick with my Primark 5 euro 38 C ( with free thong Smile)

kpdiscodancer · 18/02/2014 07:48

Just seen this so measured myself as I know I am wearing the wrong bra! I wear a 36c but have just measured myself as 32 back and 40 bust. What does that make me? My boobs are definitely on the smaller side. I can remember desperately trying to buy a wonder bra at 18 and devastated that I was too small but that was when I was a size 8 and pre-kids! Thanks everyone

SorrelForbes · 18/02/2014 08:07

kpdiscodancer Try a 32FF as a starting point.

hollyisalovelyname I'd bet money that you need a 34 but in an F or bigger!

kpdiscodancer · 18/02/2014 08:13

Madness! But will try thank you.

MrsPnut · 18/02/2014 09:24

Can I ask how the Cleo minnie fits? or the Curvy Kate eden?
I usually buy the Panache Tango and know my size in that but I have tried other curvy kate styles before and they've never been quite right.

Thanks

HazleNutt · 18/02/2014 09:32

I havent' tried Eden, but generally Curvy Kate is very stretchy, so I usually go down a back size. And if you are used to the firm support Panache gives, Curvy Kate might indeed feel too soft.

MrsPnut · 18/02/2014 09:34

Thanks, I think that's what my problem was before with the curvy kate I had.
It was ok for a night out but not enough for day to day wear.

WowserBowser · 18/02/2014 09:57

I love these threads but have never had a tape measure. Fed up of my bras so have resorted to wool and one of those metal measure things.

So i used to wear a 32b which was always a comfortable bra. Got pregnant and m&s put me in a 34c. Still wearing them even though Ds is 3. Although from reading these threads i also have a 32d as i am a size 10/12 but my top half is skinniest.

Anyhow

WowserBowser · 18/02/2014 09:58

30under boob 37 around boob.

What does that make me?

hollyisalovelyname · 18/02/2014 10:03

Sorrel my boobs are way too small to be an F Sad

HazleNutt · 18/02/2014 10:20

holly, letters don't mean a thing without the band size. 38F is not the same size as 34F.

Wowser, try 30F and around that size.

SorrelForbes · 18/02/2014 10:24

hollyisalovelyname You'd be surprised! My DSis and her eldest both look almost flat chested but wear an FF and F respectively. A friend measures at a 30DD but needs a 30FF!

WowserBowser Try a 30F as a starting point. If you scoop whilst wearing your C/D cup bras, do you get overspill/bulge/underam or back fat bulge?

MrsPnut I find that the Cleo Millie/Marcie/Bella/Melissa/Meg fit the same as my Panache Idina Balconette (the only Panache non-Cleo I own!). I'm a 30GG in all of these bras. I don't get on with CK at all, the cups are too shallow and the wires are too wide.

SorrelForbes · 18/02/2014 10:25

Mornin' Hazle Grin

WowserBowser · 18/02/2014 10:32

I've just nearly fainted.

Yes, over spill and under arm bulge. No back fat.

Could this be why some of the straps hurt? Like they feel like they are really pulling down on my shoulders.

Thank you for your help. Can't wait to try on some bras!

It's funny as some of my 34s feel really tight which made me think i needed a 36 before seeing one of these threads. 32d is less tight.

BUT i would say my boobs look small. Probably Kate Moss, Kylie Minogue size. Or more recently Jennifer Aniston.

Is this because a 30f, relatively, isn't that big?

HazleNutt · 18/02/2014 10:37

hey there Sorrel Grin

Yes Wowser - the back should be offering most of the support. If it's too big then it does not and your boobs are supported mainly by straps. And that hurts. 30F is really not that big.

WowserBowser · 18/02/2014 10:42

Ah i see! Thank you!

We have a bra shop in town, expensive i think but may go and try some on. Will the women laugh me out of thesshop? Grin
