A well fitting, smart/sexy and preferably push-up bra size 38A... impossible???

I am sooo fed up with trying to find a well fitting bra, preferably nice looking and adding a bit of "volume" in my size...
I'm starting to feel like a freak!
Am i really the only person in the world with really small breasts and a slightly larger ribcage?
Every bra I find is either too tight around my chest or has gaping cups. I need a wired one as any others leave me looking completely flat-chested.
Any suggestions of shops or online retailers would be greatly appreciated!

That is a bit if a rubbish description isn't it?!
They're rounded, shape-wise, as opposed to oval I guess, but disappear when not in a bra or when I lie down.

I'm not sure I understand the scooping thing but I just tried to get all of one boob into the bra cup in and it just about covered my nipple so much was over the top - and the bra wasn't done up!

When i tried a 34B it seemed very tight on the band?

StatisticallyChallenged · 28/11/2013 21:34

Ok, scooping 101 :)

Put the bra on. Now, bend forward, put your right hand inside the left cup, and reach as far back as you can (round under your armpit) and grab everything soft and yank it forward in to the cups. Sometimes easier to do this side on to a mirror. Repeat on other side.

Now, this won't stay put on your 36, but try it just to see....

the 34B, I suspect felt tight because you hadn't scooped, the cup isn't big enough and your boobs were stealing the back fabric!

blondiep14 · 29/11/2013 09:30

Ok. The scooping produced quite hilarious results!

I'm off to order some new bras!

I shall be back.

lovelydogs · 29/11/2013 09:34

Are there any bra ladies around this morning?? I've remeasured after some weight loss and could do with some advice as off to the shops today. I'm measuring 30ins under boobs and 35.5 around them when dangling. Where to start??!

lovelydogs · 29/11/2013 09:34

Ah, forgot to say, currently wearing a 36A!

kittykarate · 29/11/2013 09:39

Counting on my fingers I'm coming up with 30DD or 30E

InMySpareTime · 29/11/2013 09:41

I've been previously intervened, just popping back to ask if anyone's seen a 26G bra for sale anywhere.
Failing that, which 28s come up tight in the band.
I'm down to wearing either a Betsy Bow with wires coming out of the fabric, an M&S plunge which Gives me quad-boob as they escape to the middle, or a masquerade Delphi which is moulded and now so loose I can keep my keys in there!

lovelydogs · 29/11/2013 10:00

thanks kitty I'll start there

StatisticallyChallenged · 29/11/2013 11:25

Inmysparetime I have found the em bezyk to be quite tight-if I was ordering again I'd size up. The malinki is too as apparently is the new nina. I can't remember buthave yyou tried any of the debenhams gorgeous in a28? Lots of them run very small

Plant, I would go up as well, so 30F, 32E. It's easy to see if the bra is too big, but it's sometimes not so obvious when it's a size too small. And could try 28 backs as well, if you find any.

Whereisegg · 29/11/2013 13:05

managed a quick detour to asda today.
nothing in a 30 back and was advised I was a 30d on here.
closest I could find was a 32c.

it was only too bloody small Grin

Whereisegg · 29/11/2013 13:05

oh, I've spent years in a 34a

SorrelForbes · 29/11/2013 13:32

Whereisegg Was the 32C too small in the cup? That's the same cup volume as a 34B so your 34As must really be too small (especially of you scoop!)?

I'd try a 30DD and upwards Grin

I had double boobs after I'd scooped!

if you had asked me last week, I would have said my bras were too big, but after reading this thread I realised that half my boobs were under my arms as strap not tight enough, and that getting a good fit from those moulded t-shirt ones is nearly impossible.
I have lived in them for years!

SayHelloToMyLittleFriend · 29/11/2013 15:01

Was just about to ask for advice but potted plant is the same as me, would never have thought to try bra's in 30E or 32F but will give it a try this weekend. Actually excited to try on bras haha.

TomskiGirl · 03/12/2013 20:53

Ok, so I have a large selection of bras from Bra Stop in mostly 32DD and some 32D. Some of them fit ok, but I have wrinkling in the lacey part at the top of the cup, like I don't have quite enough boob to fill it despite scooping. One bra fits quite well but I think it makes me look flat chested. Now, do I exchange for a 32C?
I also wondered if there is a certain style that would fit me better, I like the idea of having more support underneath my arms.
Please help me super bra ladies!!!

SorrelForbes · 04/12/2013 00:10

Which bras are they? It's quite likely to be a make/style issue.

TomskiGirl · 04/12/2013 09:30

Curvy princess, Lepel Fiore, Gossard Superboost, Fantasie Evie plunge, Beautiful Paige Plunge, Fauve Emmanuelle, Fauve Isobel, Nessa Melania

SorrelForbes · 04/12/2013 10:56

Plunge bras and full cup styles can result in gaping at the top of the cups. A quick glance at some of those suggests that you try more of a balconette or half cup shape and perhaps something less 'moulded'.

TomskiGirl · 04/12/2013 22:16

Thanks for the reply. Do you have any brand/style suggestions?

SorrelForbes · 05/12/2013 14:07

If you like Fauve, they do some nice half cups. The Panache Idina Balconette is very nice (and stretchy material which moulds to you IYSWIM). Debenhams Gorgeous range do some great balconette styles (size up in the back and cup as they run small).

I'm a big fan of the Cleo range (also made by Panache). Many of their bras (e.g.. Marcie, Bella, Melissa, Lily) seem to work well even on breasts which get gaping on other styles.

MrsHoratioNelson · 05/12/2013 15:46

Sorrel and Stats can I ask about how nursing bras should fit? Sorrel kindly helped out on a shop rec I asked for but DS is 7 weeks and I haven't made it yet :)

I think I'm a 32GG and I ordered some Panache Sophie in that size but they seemed a little small. The trouble is they're soft cup and that tends to create mono boob. Should it? I'm not used to having any space between my boobs. If I can find some underwired bras that fit, I'd be happy to convert them to nursing bras, so I can get a better shape.

My boobs used to be my pride and joy like two oranges perched on my rib cage and I've had to get used to them brushing my abdomen when I bend down in the shower :(

TomskiGirl · 05/12/2013 23:39

Thanks Sorrel, I'll have a look at some of those this weekend Grin
