I have read lots of threads about this kit and people seem to rave about it to reduce the frizziness in hair but I remember reading a while back that some contain formaldehyde and I concerned that this one contains it. I have read the ingredients but am unsure if formaldehyde goes by other chemical names?
Just worried I'll do damage to myself for the sake of frizz free hair.
Any ideas?

pathan just let it dry then put the stuff on, no need to straighten, I certainly didn't until after the stuff was on and hair dried. I also put all the stuff on then blowed my hair for ages until it was all dry, no need to dry it section by section that just sounds a faff. the crucial bit is the straightening after, yes eleventy million times Smile or at least 7 watch out though cos your fingers can get burned as the hair heats up.

ThePathanKhansAmnesiac · 02/06/2013 14:46

Ok eccles! I can,t wait. to see how it turns out. I,m doing it tomorrow, so i,ll post back then!.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 02/06/2013 15:09

is it silly of me to get so thrilled at you all trying this! Grin good luck pathan

PuppyMonkey · 02/06/2013 15:14

I did this last year - still have half a jar of stuff left. Loved it but despite using correct shampoo it only lasted 2 months. Had it done at hairdresser too and same thing. Guess it's just my hair (which is thick and Irish, like meGrin)

I now have a short slick bob which I turn under and tbh the keratin would make it too straight to work so I haven't bothered with it again.

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 02/06/2013 15:15

oh and those of you saying you burn your Di.gets... straighten over a comb, don't touch the hair with your hands at all.

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 02/06/2013 15:15

fingers ** Hmm Blush

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 02/06/2013 16:38

coconuts I tried that but think I have some issues with dexterity as looking in a mirror I just couldn't manage it Grin

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 02/06/2013 16:44

oh you shouldn't straighten in a mirror Grin you end up tying your arms in knots Grin just use th mirror to help with your sections then just use the comb Smile

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 02/06/2013 19:53

you saw me then coconuts Grin

Coconuts, thanks for bumping this thread and pointing me in the right direction Smile I've just finished reading it, still have a couple of questions.

I have very thick, wavy-curly, frizzy, long hair. It takes me roughly 45 minutes to blow dry and straighten. Actually though, I prefer my hair when I've done it to when I go to the hairdressers. Mainly because they make my hair look really flat, because they go over it again and again with the straighteners and it just doesn't suit me. So after reading this, I'm a little concerned that I will have this, but permanently Confused As I've said in my previous thread, I have quite round face and flat hair makes my face look even rounder. I would hate that!!

Also, is it safe to keep using? Or should you give your hair a break between treatments?

oreoaddict · 03/06/2013 16:12

Have to bump this again, sorry
Blush

Sunshineandflowers · 03/06/2013 16:33

Sounds like your hair is a bit like mine, only mine can be very curly and frizzy. Nothing like hair texture!

Had my keratin treatment done 2 weeks ago and I have proper hair! I wash it and if I leave it it drives in slight waves. But all shiny and smooth. 5 minutes with the GHDs makes it look lush. Straight but bouncy.

No reason not to use it almost continuously as far as I know. My hair is in better condition for using it.

Anything else you need to know?

Sunshineandflowers · 03/06/2013 16:34

Dries not drives. It's great hair, but not that great!!!

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 03/06/2013 17:05

oreo it lasts up to 3 months if you use the right shampoo etc so no need to use it lots only when the full effect of loveliness wears off. If you did not like the effect or your hair was too flat you could wash with a shampoo with sodium chloride in it a few times and it would begin to strip it out again, but doubt you would want to.

oreoaddict · 04/06/2013 09:04

sunshine, so did it make your hair look flat? I'm quite happy to keep a few gentle waves, but I don't like my natural curls cos they make me look like a poodle and a scruffy one at that. So many friends and family have said that they'd kill for hair like mine and that I should let it dry naturally, so I do, just to show them and they're always like Confused 'ok, fair enough. I understand now' Grin

Anyway, like I said before, I would hate, HATE to have poker straight flat hair, so I'm starting to wonder if this really is for me. Oh and can you really not tie It back during the 3 days? When I tie my hair back normally, I don't get any kinks or anything, but is this for a different reason?

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 04/06/2013 11:10

nope definately cant tie it back the chemical process going on would gine it permanent kinks. I doubt you would get poker straight flat hair but if it was too flat as I said earlier it can be washed in a shampoo with sodium chloride in and this will reverse the process. It only lasts up to 3 months anyway.

HavingAnOffDAy · 04/06/2013 12:48

Hi I've just found this thread & this sounds like a wonder product!

My hair is collar length & very fine but I wash & straighten it every day or I look like a greasy mess. My hair is randomly wavy rather than curly - do you think this would be suitable?

Thanks Smile

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 04/06/2013 14:08

yes!

Sunshineandflowers · 04/06/2013 14:40

Oreo - no my hair isn't flat. I know what you mean because I hate that flattened to the head look bit it isn't like that on mine!

HavingAnOffDAy · 04/06/2013 15:08

Hmmm, I'm tempted. Just need to work out when I can stay in the house for 3 days straight!!

Sunshineandflowers · 04/06/2013 16:10

I didn't need to stay in the house, mine didn't look greasy. It was difficult to remember not to tie it back because I usually do that but it was fine. I straightened it morning and evening and that kept it looking nice (just a few mins).

oreoaddict · 04/06/2013 17:12

Sunshine phew! I was starting to think I shouldn't bother. I know most people love the pump water, straight look.

I've been looking at some youtube tutorials and I thought their hair looked so greasy when they blow dried the product in. I suppose it is just for 3 days, but nevertheless, I don't think I'd want to leave the house.

Did someone say upthread that it's ok to use dry shampoo if needed? Oh and do you need to use a special kind of dry shampoo afterwards? I use it a couple of times a week normally.

Also (this may sound a bit extreme) I think I might wear a mask or something when straightening my hair. Does anyone else do this? If it's so toxic, you need to open a window, I think it's a good idea to protect yourself as much as you can, at least. Some of the woman I saw using it were coughing and spluttering at this stage, so it can't do any harm can it.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 04/06/2013 17:39

probably a good idea to wear the mask but it got my eyes watering more than anything. sorry no idea about the dry shampoo, I have used it before but hate the way it makes my hair feel. mine was not greasy looking when I did the straightening bit, perhaps they used too much? mine was lovely and soft and shiney and so smooth I could not stop running my fingers over it which is why it probably looked greasy quite soon but then tbh it looks greasy after a day or two anyway if its not washed.

Goldchilled7up · 04/06/2013 22:37

Can I use it to just nourish my hair? My hair is already straight, but recently it has been very dry and breaking due to colouring.

redhappy · 05/06/2013 13:04

Would anyone be up for posting before and after pictures?

I'm doing mine this weekend, will try and post a pic before, and immediately after treatment finished, then a picture after the wash.
