Help! Wedding on Sunday, no dress!

I posted a couple of days ago asking about a dress to match a pink Osprey clutch this is the exact colour (wrong bag), although I see it's called 'salmon pink'... giving you an indication of how shocking I am at this stuff.

People were helpful but I didn't find anything I liked. I now have a couple of hours on Wednesday afternoon to find something (wedding abroad, flying on Friday morning). Can you please help - I'd like to look very put-together and I find it difficult to do a complete outfit nicely.

It's a Jewish religious wedding so I'm guessing no vast displays of flesh, not that I like that anyway. I'm 26, size 10 with lumpy bits and shorter than average. Fairly pale skin and long hair.

Ideally I'd like a dress that would go with the bag and some comfortable shoes that are also nice (lots of dancing afterwards, no heels). I was thinking I could buy a neutral wrap?

I really don't have a clue and I'm very lost. I always see such good recommendations for other people on here! to anyone who can help.

Navy would certainly work with that shade. Do you have shoes and a hat? Shall have a rummage for you.

Thank you! I know I suit navy. Budget is £200 tops for everything (ideal), or possibly £250 (panic mode). I don't have shoes or a hat.

How religious is religious? I'm Jewish and so might be able to offer some advice.

Also - are you married? If so, and depending on how religious the wedding is and what the venue is, you might need to wear a hat, at least for the ceremony.

this is short on the 5'9" model but if your around the 5 foot mark it would be decent. But maybe it should be below the knee as was my first instinct

To cover all eventualities religious-wise, the dress needs to be below the knee, up to the collar bone (and similar at the back) and sleeves to the elbow. No see through material, even on sleeves (thick lace would probably be OK though). Sleeveless could be a hassle, as if it is a very religious crowd you'll need to wear a wrap all the time, even at the dinner and when dancing.

If they are less religious, then you can get away with a heck of a lot more.

cardamom Not Orthodox, but devout and very culturally Jewish (if that's the right way to describe it? E.g. very strict Kosher observance, having a traditional wedding). It will be at the main synagogue in a European capital (possibly massively outing myself here!), but on the other hand we are going to the Shabbat Chatan on Saturday and they said it's fine to bring a book in case we get bored/leave at any point when people are seated so I get the impression they are also relaxed? We are not married.

I love the Pied a Terre one, but it's at the top of the budget.

Weather: warm (mid to late 20s), high chance of showers and they are hoping to get married outside.

I should add, they have lived together for ages (about six years) so maybe they are more relaxed than I think! We were all housemates at uni.

The Pied a Terre is almost certain to flatter you beautifully, it wont date and TBH you'd probably more or less get your money back on ebay if you don't think you'd wear it again.

BTW - Shabbat morning services are LONG. Don't make the mistake of turning up right at the beginning of the service. Most Jews don't....

Will it go with the DP shoes and a cream wrap? Should I then get a cream fascinator/hat thing? Unfortunately I don't have a John Lewis here (Birmingham) or I'd buy the hat you linked as it's great.

The bride did say that hair covering was optional in the Shabbat service but that men have to wear a kippah.

If she's not married, then no hat required. In fact, single women, never wear a hat, so, strictly speaking, for her to do so would be odd.

Although if she really wants to, I don't think it will really matter.

For the shabbat service you will need to be pretty covered up (knee, elbow, collar bone). A wrap would work well and be fine.

If your DP can obtain a kippah in advance, that woudl be great. The synagogue should provide them, but they tend to be dire. Unless they are doing kippahs for the wedding - sometimes people do this, stamped with their names and the date of the wedding.
