Woo hoo! Over here.........

I am faintly surprised, every single time I see Miley Cyrus, that she isn't 11 and tweenie any more.

Thanks Anni! Grin at anti-tardis. I bet when it softens you will fit more in.

I like most men in suits, but poor DH looks so trussed up in a tie, he has a v natural style, and looks awful all knotted up. He wore matching waistcoat and trousers (had a jacket too, but hardly wore it) and open necked patterned shirt (that I made) for our wedding, and it looked fab, spot on for his style.

One that's awesome! Lucky you, well deserved.

Have just been to my fabulous dressmaker, getting a few bits and bobs done - pure wool vintage knee length coat being taken in (eBay bargain, £30) as it's too big and a gorgeous forest green boucle hobbs skirt being taken up (midi length - hideous on me - but everything else about it is perfect). Am also having a beautiful silk shirt dress copied - it fits perfectly except around my bum and thighs, where it is just too tight, and there isn't enough fabric spare for letting it out to fit. Once she's copied the dress she'll shorten the original into a silk shirt. Win win!

I suppose I'd better do some actual work now...

MarshaBrady · 13/05/2013 11:37

Oh Shop don't worry at risk of inducing collective vogue gasp I have never had a manicure and have never bought nail polish. Short and that's it. I wonder if I can hold a glass of champagne without showing my nails Grin.

(I never wear sandals either).

Hopefully · 13/05/2013 11:37

Shop go DIY! My hands currently look like this, I am getting reasonably good at doing manicures that last now. Please ignore varnish on finger tips that I hadn't removed at the time the photo was taken. I have my nails so short that I always paint my finger tips and have to remove it afterwards! HATE long nails on me.

OneLittleLady · 13/05/2013 11:43

DIY manicures are easy once you've done it a couple of times shop on the days I can't manage my own, my sister comes and does mine for me. I also keep my nails short as due to the CRPS, my nails are very fast growing but very brittle so they snap off as soon as they get to a certain length. Keeping my nails nice colours does cheer me up on bad days though Smile

santamarianovella · 13/05/2013 11:56

a 5lb dumbell fell on my feet this morning ,and my toes are killlling me!

i really loved it sleep, although our stay there was not as glamours as yours!my father worked there in the 90s,and we lived near lutry i went to school there, lovely memories, but it was not that great for shopping.and geneva back in the late 90s was not that great either,so it was really dull for a teenager, very limited choice.
im still waiting for the velvet lace dress to arrive!i hope i can pull it off and wear it for an evening out.i bought the maxi one tooBlush .

one you are right people are soooo nice here, even nicer than most of the people i know in RL. hope you enjoy your skirt.
ani im like you i either like them in sharp suits or really scruffy! glad you are feeling better today

QueenCadbury · 13/05/2013 12:34

anni I've also been bed shopping with dd. it wasn't intended but we went to ikea and she was obsessed with climbing in all the beds and went round the rest of it saying 'bed, bed'. I took it as a sign that she wanted a bed. Just have to put the damn thing up now.

I adore a man in a dj. We rarely go to black tie events but when we do I just swoon over everyone. That, and freshly shaved skin!

one most people are lovely on MN but I rarely stray away from s&b except occasionally to aibu. It certainly opens up my mind to other people's lives/views and opinions. What I really hate is the judgey people who are just so judgey they're up their own arses.

shop I used to be rubbish at painting my nails but now can manage the brightest of colours ok. I actually find it really relaxing to paint my own nails too.

shopafrolic · 13/05/2013 12:34

Ouch Santa
That is definitely neon polish Hopefully!

Did anyone see Olivia Coleman accepting her Baftas last night? Loved her for thanking her parents for babysitting. Nice interview here I like her description of how love should feel.
She had a beautiful dress too.

OP posts:
OneLittleLady · 13/05/2013 12:44

Olivia Coleman's dress was Westwood I think, she looked stunning. She's also really talented Envy

MarshaBrady · 13/05/2013 12:50

Ohh I forgot her name but I've met Olivia (just briefly a friend's friend), it was shortly after seeing Tyrannosaur. The film and her acting was profoundly moving and it felt strange to be in such a normal everyday environment (to do with the dc). She is a great actress.

shopafrolic · 13/05/2013 13:10

I'm very envious Marsha

Pink Gigis on the Outnet for the small of foot....

OP posts:
shopafrolic · 13/05/2013 13:42

Lots of bandeau bikini tops on the Outnet. And Lanvin flats for little feet (sorry Marsha)

OP posts:
LinusDKD · 13/05/2013 13:53

One what a lovely thing to so! I hope the skirt fits like a glove and you look and feel stunning in it!

Wish I could do a decent DYI manicure but am too clumsy (and impatient).

How's this for a skull cuff:

Tom Binns

Hopefully · 13/05/2013 13:55

Two things that will never ever happen for me - bandeau bikinis and small Lanvin flats. I shall not bother visiting The Outnet today. Grin

MarshaBrady · 13/05/2013 13:58

Haha Hopefully I could but would have to remove the word small from the flat Grin

Linus that's some cuff!

shopafrolic · 13/05/2013 14:01

Me neither Hopefully but there is a yellow Splendid tee on there that could be a good basic for an Autumn though......

OP posts:
OneLittleLady · 13/05/2013 14:03

Wow, that's a cuff and a half linus

shopafrolic · 13/05/2013 14:11

Has anyone had experience returning this to & Other Stories and to Cos? Do they take forever??

OP posts:
LinusDKD · 13/05/2013 14:20

I didn't buy that cuff but thought I'd share it with the skull lovers on here.

Sleepwhenidie · 13/05/2013 14:50

Definitely a statement cuff I can see why it didn't sell out Grin

Bandeau bikinis not an option for me either so I'm not clicking (I am avoiding the Outnet anyway because of this gorgeous dress. I have nowhere to wear it and at present they don't have my size but I love it.

I am the same as you with DIY manis and pedis Linus, far too cackhanded and then when I do manage to paint neatly I end up smudging it somehow. Even a professional mani only seems to last a day or two on me, I had shellac once and that was looking ropey after about 5 days Shock. So its unlikely there will be much competition from me on the fabulously groomed hands front on Saturday either, the only time mine look good is when I go to my friend's salon if I'm in town, which is a perk I can't resist!

Just back from hospital getting blood test done for DS2, was horrible, he screamed the place down, poor little guy. Much better now he's had an ice cream to console him Smile.

blondambition · 13/05/2013 14:51

Ahhhh I can't keep up either!

Just quickly to say Shop I have that yellow Splendid tee and it's lovely, so soft and washes well.

I returned some shoes to & Other Stories and the refund came through surprisingly quickly considering the parcels go back to the Netherlands or somewhere like that.

Linus Grin at the cuff. It would make one arm longer than the other if you wore it too often.

Santa ouch to the dumbbell. I have a 16kg kettlebell I used to swing around which is now functioning as a doorstop.

Onelittlelady Flowers and get well wishes, it sounds horrid for you.

Nice nail polish Hopefully, looks fab. I am a terrible nail biter so mine look appalling most of the time. Need to do something about it, I have lovely engagement and wedding rings that are badly let down by my chewed stumps Sad.

Hi to everyone else, Shop I am about to pm you.

santamarianovella · 13/05/2013 15:25

im rubbish at DIY mani /padi,but im really in awe of those of you who manage, hopefully yours look so neat,i get mani/padi maybe 5 times a year and they only last about 2 days.starting to think its a waste of money.
that cuff is...interestingGrin.
sleep your poor dc,and that dress is just gorgeous.

shopafrolic · 13/05/2013 17:18

Waves at Blond no PM!!!??? Are you coming?
Is the colour of the yellow accurate on the website for that Splendid tee?

OP posts:
foxysocks · 13/05/2013 17:21

i'm baaaaaack

only read this page, too much to catch up on, but shellac is BRILL for pedis. i am harsh on my feet, all the yoga and barefoot/flipflops in the summer, shellac doesn't chip at all and stays looking fab for ages. plus its breathable so way better for nails

no shopping to report, boden skinny belts and the j crew vest on the way.

was actually nice having no internet! feel v refreshed.

back later and will read what you've all been up to Grin
