Morning all. I sent the A Line Me&em back too. It was too A Line for me, kept the Grecian and the maxi.

My secret shame is that I really like Miley Cyrus' style.

No advice on the sizing of the skirt as mine hasn't arrived yet, but I bought a midi dress I had seen at the preview and the sizing is not generous. I can often wear an 8 in dresses but I definitely needed a 10 in this one!

Decameron · 13/05/2013 07:06

Liberty, thanks, I think I will give that dress a miss, I don't think A line does many people any favours. Lovely sweater and trousers though.

OneLittleLady, I had to google CRPS too, it sounds very painful, how awful for you.

SantaMaria, there's Woodbury Common, I haven't been for a few years but it used to be fantastic.

Had a friend over this weekend and spent Sat on the Kings Rd with her, nice lunch out and some Mac and Zara top purchases. Also saw a LK Bennett red tote, which I can't find on their website, that I really like. A bit like a Louis Vuitton Neverfull, I like the shape of the bags but not the logos. However, I'm saving my pennnies for the sales now!

Decameron · 13/05/2013 07:07

pennies

LinusDKD · 13/05/2013 07:26

santa no no your posts were helpful it is just that I live on the outskirts of Geneva so both outlets are a bit of a drive from where I live.

DH and I once went to a massive outlet near Houston, Texas and we bought so much stuff there (mostly Ralph Lauren for DH) that we got an extra discount at the till. Blush

Liberty I was having a look at that dress as well because I love teal but if it is that short it won't suit me.

shopafrolic · 13/05/2013 07:49

I got the Grecian in teal Linus

Drywhiteplease · 13/05/2013 08:01

MN meet up at Linus'!! Grin ......wish I were (like the grammar?...its for you Shop and the apostrophe!!) able to come on Saturday Sad
Well today, after freezing feet this weekend and a horrid cold still, I have admitted defeat and am back in winter clothes, opaques and boots Sad...

FrugalFashionista · 13/05/2013 08:04

Linus Woodbury Commons about I hr outside NYC is the default tourist trap outlet. I never found anything there - stores can get very crowded and it's a full day outing to an otherwise dull suburban location. But my cousin (who works in banking) bought lots there.

I found my designer bargains in locations within the city, along the subway (but in the Bronx and Brooklyn - pm if interested). Clothes shopping in NYC is quite tedious and time-consuming ime, unless you are into full-price high-end or dept store shopping (Macys give an automatic tourist discount). You'll just have to weigh whether it's worth your time or whether you'd rather lounge on a nice terrace somewhere in Williamsburg or Bushwick Wink

shopafrolic · 13/05/2013 08:07

Seriously - I can't become queen of grammar on here. Not with the number of typos I make! But I do love an exclamation mark!!!!!!! Grin. Horrible grey day here, first day of DH working in his new job in London (old job was working from home) so a new start for our little family. He looked hot in his suit though, much nicer than seeing him at his desk at 10am in his pants. I'm off to die at my friend's gym while DS is at nursery.

santamarianovella · 13/05/2013 09:10

morning all,
amber,i like her style too,its soo her.

dec, definitely wait for the sale.its a few weeks away.i loooove kings road!the blue bird is one of my favorites restaurants. such a lovely neighborhood.

linus we used to live in lausanne, not that great shopping wise, but geneva was much better back then, but it was either high end or small chain stores and nothing in between. lots of yummy chocolates though.
most of the famous outlets in US and europe are flooded with tourists, sometimes its not worth the trip, but maybe the ones NY are better,i have very little knowledge of NY,the last time i went there was before getting married and only stayed for a week,we hardly did any shopping.we didnt leave the upper east side.

shop all the best of luck to mrshop on his first day, and i agree i find men in suits seriously hot.

Sleepwhenidie · 13/05/2013 09:25

I love Lausanne Santa, I worked in Switzerland for a spell, 6m in Zurich (fab city) and also for four amazing months I lived in the Lausanne Palace hotel and was paid extra to cover meals etc Grin those were the days! How do you enjoy living out there Santa? Ps I love that white lace dress by Velvet too, but it's definitely not one for the school run, even for me! Didn't try it as I can't see where I would wear it....

Right, you lot have distracted me long enough, too chatty! DS2 is now late for nursery and I have to get to the gym.

Decameron · 13/05/2013 09:47

Sorry, it was Linus looking for outlets in NY. There's also Loehmann's and Century 21 in the city, DSW in Union square for shoes. I'd just go to Saks and Bloomingdales could easily spend a fortune there.

LinusDKD · 13/05/2013 10:25

Thanks for all the advice on outlets in NY but I think you are right that they are tourist traps and as it is my first time there I will want to do a bit of sightseeing instead of 24 h shopping. Grin Oh and eating, lots of eating!

Off to look at grecian dress in teal (one of my favourite colours)

Mmm, men in suits....

OneLittleLady · 13/05/2013 10:40

Good luck to mrshop

I am amazed at the kindness of some people. Another MNetter is sending me, for nothing, a Vivienne Westwood skirt that they don't want! It just happened that it's in my size so it's being sent to me where it will be well loved. Random acts of kindness are just amazing Smile

shopafrolic · 13/05/2013 11:03

WoW One - that's lovely. The power of MN.
grecian in teal for Linus maybe too short?

OP posts:
OneLittleLady · 13/05/2013 11:13

Funny thing is shop before I joined, I'd heard terrible terrible things about MN. All I heard was how judgemental and nasty people on here were and I haven't found that at all. Admittedly though, I don't stray very far for S&B

OneLittleLady · 13/05/2013 11:14

from S&B not for

Annianni · 13/05/2013 11:15

I had to google it too Onelittle, that sounds horrid.
Lovely about the skirt though.
There are some very kind people on here.

Shame about the dress Liberty, those trousers look useful instead.
And that white sweater is nice.

Good luck to MrShop on his first day.

Now I'll have to say, although a man can look nice in a suit, I much prefer a man in work boots Blush
Luckily dh dresses like that :o

I'm out bed shopping for ds2 and i'm using the pewter Zatchel for the first time.
Thank God I ordered the large, as it's like an anti-tardis... it looks big, but very little will fit in it Hmm

I'm finally starting to feel like me again today.

Annianni · 13/05/2013 11:19

Hopefully you should get the nail varnish any day now.

Apologies for the diabolical wrapping but I had to wrap it small enough, to pass as a small parcel (bloody royal mail changing things)

AmberNectarine · 13/05/2013 11:20

Aw, I love a man in a suit. My DH has just started getting them made for him and he looks so delicious it's almost worth the extortion.

MarshaBrady · 13/05/2013 11:25

OneLittle that is very kind, a lovely skirt.

I love a man in a off white linen jacket, of white shirt .

Suits can be good but they have to be well made and well fitted.

Good luck to Mr Shop Shop hope he liked his new desk etc Grin.

MarshaBrady · 13/05/2013 11:25

Or white shirt

OneLittleLady · 13/05/2013 11:26

I also love a man in a suit. Even just a nice shirt and tie will do Blush DP just bought new clothes for work as it's a slightly different dress code to his last place and the jacket he bought looks so good on him.

MarshaBrady · 13/05/2013 11:27

Glad you're feeling better Anni, oh no at anti tardis. The small Celine often confounds me by making it hard for me to find keys in such a small space. I should do something like outside zip equals keys but never do.

shopafrolic · 13/05/2013 11:32

Agree suits have to be well made and fitted Marsha we whisked him off to the tailors a few weeks ago for bespoke ones. Well worth it.
Anni glad you're feeling better. Work boots also good. My window cleaner is a very buff fireman - nice distraction on dull days.
Survived gym session and managed 15 mins more on the cross trainer than last time so am pleased. Trying to book a manicure before we all meet but fear I will have rubbish hands as can't get one sorted around childcare. Will sit on hands (as per usual) throughout lunch!
