Yoshi yep start with 34GG and sizes around. happy shopping Smile

Madsometimes · 30/06/2013 22:05

I have very small boobs. I measure 31 in the back and 34 when at 90 degrees.

Does that really mean that I'm a 30/32 C? I struggle to fill a 30A at the moment. Also my boobs are very low down and I'm about 6 foot tall. I always use the longest strap, but it seems a little too short. I always find that when I raise my ams above my head my bra rides up over my breasts which is so uncomfortable and not very easy to adjust back unless in private.

Mostly I don't bother with bras which may explain why my boobs are down south. However, I feel like I ought to now because my nearly 13 year old dd will be needing one soon. She has mild sensory issues and cannot stand any tightly fitting clothing. So far she has refused to think about bras, so any advice would be welcome.

SorrelForbes · 30/06/2013 22:31

Madsometimes I would suggest trying a 30C, 30D, 32C and 32B.

The cup of 30A is roughly equal in volume to the cup of a 32B and a 30C. What happens if you scoop when wearing your current bra?

If your bra is rising up over your boobs when you lift your arm then that suggests that the band is too big (is that in a 30A or a bigger band?).

LucyTheValiant · 30/06/2013 22:47

Thanks all so much for the advice!

I went to Bravissimo today and came away with two bras (28DD) - they fit really nicely in the shop but after I wore one for a while this afternoon I feel like my boobs are slipping out underneath? There's gaping at the top when that happens. I can hoik them back in and the bra fits amazingly again but the same happens after a while. I guess the band is too big? Can I take them back? Thinking of buying one of those clips as 26 is so rare, has anyone tried them?

LucyTheValiant · 30/06/2013 22:53

(I've just read that back and the thanks sounds really sarcastic - it isn't meant to be, I promise! Blush )

StatisticallyChallenged · 30/06/2013 23:03

It sounds like if they existed, you'd need a 26. But they don't really! I would maybe try a Rixie clip to see if that helps - if it does it's actually very easy to take the back of a bra in and a lot of smaller backed women are having to do this

Bravissimo will take them back if they don't fit right, they are very good that way. It's just a question of whether to take them back and try more, or if you just aren't going to get a good enough, firm enough back with anything readily available. Which bra is it?

SorrelForbes · 30/06/2013 23:14

Lucy I posted this up thread which might be of interest if you're thinking of adjusting the band.

LucyTheValiant · 30/06/2013 23:24

Thank you both. It's this one, I really liked it in the shop but it seems to be too big after all. I will pop back tomorrow.

The other one is a different brand and I've just had a look and even though it's the same size, the band is actually a bit smaller, so I'm hoping that will be okay. (It's Cleo by Panache, are they known for being smaller in the band?)

I'll take a look at adjusting the band too. Thank you.

momofgirls · 30/06/2013 23:58

Thank you for the recommendations, went to bravissimo Leeds. Brought two bravissimo bras candy bliss and a black bra in 34gg and swimwear bikini fantasie 36gg and tankini Top😃Very pleased with the fit and hubby says they look much better. No more being embarrassed and trying to fit into smaller cups.

If going to bravissimo it may be best to ring first and book a fitting rather than just turning up. Store was very busy I managed to be assessed quite quickly due to having an appointment.

Madsometimes · 01/07/2013 07:29

Thanks Sorrel, I will try these. I'm not sure about scooping there's not a lot to scoop.

Can I ask, is there much variation between bra sizes and styles or brands? Eg. In clothes, sometimes I am a size 12, sometimes a 14. Is it the same with bras?

FattyMcChubster · 01/07/2013 08:01

Finally Got round to measuring, can anyone help please?
29 round ribcage
43 bent over droop measurement
Any ideas?
Thank you!

SorrelForbes · 01/07/2013 08:48

Madsometimes oh yes indeed, there can be a lot of difference between brands. Having said that, I do seem to be a consistent 30GG in the brands/styles I wear most. I'd possibly go up a cup in some Bravissimo styles (hoping to try some new ones on next trip) and I definitely need a bigger cup in many plunge styles.

Fantasie seem quite big in the band and cup, Curvy late run big in the band and small in the cup. Unfortunately you have to try every bra I usually start with my standard size a d go from there unless I've been pre-advised to size up/down.

You may not have loads to scoop but its still perhaps doing. Any underarm bulge for instance, needs to be dragged into the cup.

SorrelForbes · 01/07/2013 08:49

FattyMcChubster. Ok, try a 28K, 28JJ, 30JJ and 30J.

What are you currently wearing and how is it fitting?

FattyMcChubster · 01/07/2013 08:55

Sorrel, I'm ashamed to admit I'm just stuffing myself into whatever I've got in the drawer Blush
Nothing fits and they've just settled down from bf so thought I ought to get measured and get some proper fitting bras.
Where would you suggest I can find bras that size from?
Oh and thank you!

SorrelForbes · 01/07/2013 09:04

Don't be ashamed, you're doing what I guess thousands of women do every day!

Online try BraStop, My Curves and Me, Figleaves and Ewa Michalak.

Do you have a Bravissimo near you? That should be your first port of call.

If not then try Debenhams, HoF and JL (although they have limited numbers of 28s). Don't let them come near you with a tape though. You can fit yourself, use the guide on the Bra Guru's blog.

FattyMcChubster · 01/07/2013 09:06

Thank you. Will try them. Also, they're quite saggy and empty if that makes sense? So not huge and full, will that make a difference?

SorrelForbes · 01/07/2013 09:17

It might do especially in some styles. A friend has very empty, saggy boobs (her words) and measured at 32/37. She needs a 32FF bra in most styles. It just varies so much. Not helpful I know! Balconettes seem to work best for her.

FattyMcChubster · 01/07/2013 09:28

I have found the fuller the cup the better. Need to really be held in. Right, I'll go to a store and take as many sizes in as possible! Grin
Thanks again.

SorrelForbes · 01/07/2013 10:19

That's definitely one of the best ways to do it. Grab a handful and go for it. A tip I've learnt is to start with a bigger cup than you think you'll need. It's easier to recognise a cup that's too big than one that's marginally too small. Remember to test the band first by putting the bra on back to front.

mrsfiddymont · 02/07/2013 11:52

Could I have some advice please? I have read BraGurus blog and I measure 35/36 (measured in a shop at 38b). I can't work out my cup size though.

Also, I hate, absolutely hate the boob wobble I get when I walk Blush, in an ideal world I would love a sports type bra that flattens and holds them in but with proper straps not a racing back, does this exist?

SorrelForbes · 02/07/2013 12:20

Just checking that those measurements are correct. 35" under bust and 36" across bust (whilst leaning over, braless, at 90 degrees to the floor)?

Try a 34A, 34B, 36A. However, I'm surprised you're getting a lot of 'wobble' although a 38 back isn't going to be giving you much support really.

mrsfiddymont · 02/07/2013 12:31

Thank you for the reply, looks like I'm off to the shops Grin.

SorrelForbes · 02/07/2013 12:41

Can I just ask if you held that tape measure rather tightly and then rather loosely for the under and across measurements respectively?

Please don't think I'm being rude but I don't know how to say this, if you're an A or B cup then you have a 1" or 2" difference and will need a relatively small cup and I can't think that you would need 'flattening' as such.

SorrelForbes · 02/07/2013 12:41

How does your 38B fit? If you scoop, do you get overspill in the cup?

SingingSilver · 02/07/2013 13:58

I don't think bra intervention works for me Confused

I'm a 38 band, and a D cup size. Going by my bra intervention numbers I should be looking at a FF, G or GG. I tried some FFs and Gs in M&S today and they were too roomy. I did size up to a DD though, which fits me better.

I think my problem is that I have empty post BFing boobs, so the leaning forward at 90 degrees bit may give a false impression of what actually sits in my bra!
