GHDs believe the hype?

I never get round to styling my hair properly, I just kid myself I suit the relaxed, bushy wavy look. But someone at uni today had AMAZING hair which would need straightening everyday to look good.

I have straighteners but they are crap, I'm looking to buy some new ones, which would be quick and effective on very thick wavy hair (need to be quick or I wouldn't use them). I don't really fancy paying all that money for GHDs though, any suggestions of equally brilliant straighteners without the hefty price tag, or are GHDs my only option?

Erm, I meant to say, I would like to get her haircut which is why I am in the market for straighteners!

I bought my dd some for xmas and she certainly rates them (don't use them myself)

She has lots of very thick, coarse hair and it looks lovely when she straightens it

I had ghds about 7 years ago but sold them when I had my hair cut ver short. I've tried cheaper ones since and nothing compares. It seems such a lot to spend but I've never found other brands to match up. I have a friend whose hair is so wild she used to lean over an ironing board (no lie!) and she said ghds changed her life. I think amazon might be the cheapest place?

I am shit at doing my hair and GHDs have been fantastic! Really easy and give brilliant results.

Got my GHDs from Amazon for about £80. No others I've had compare. They're quicker to use as you don't have to go over it again and again.

You don't need the more expensive types either. The bog standard GHD's are all you need, AFAIK

Worth the hype and the money in my opinion. Have used other versions at friends houses etc and nothing has compared. They are faster, I think I'm on my 3rd set in about 15 years so worth the extra cost in the long run. My mum has the wide version as she has very thick hair, i find they are more difficult to use. If you are buying from a salon they might have some you can try first?

I got a pair of boots own £10 ceramic ones 7 10 years ago and they are fine on my thick wavy hair. I'd try a cheap pair first as it could save you a fortune!

I have very thick, coarse, frizzy hair. No product or straightener could tame it. That's until my hairdresser introduced me to GHDs 8 years ago - I haven't looked back since!

I have thick coarse slightly wavy hair and ghds are my life saver. Have the thick ones as make process quicker. I do it twice a week and only takes 5 mins before work/or school run, but keeps it manageable until next hair wash. Cheaper ones just not comparable.

I have GHD's and yes they are lovely but have some red tony and guy ones half price in asda and they are just as good. They;re the ones with the thick, normal, medium and fine hair settings on.

my hair is really curly and there the only thing thats really worked worth every penny.

I think GHDs are great. However, I would like to add that you can get cheaper ones that go up to 230 deg. The most important thing is the technique. Essential to straighten you hair layer by layer. If you haven't done so before, pop to a salon and get them to straighten your hair.

I am a trained stylist and I currently use Nicky Clarke straighteners, bought with my Boots points. It might be worth trying these if you are on a budget.

GHDS are brilliant and I blanched at the price but would say that are def worth every penny plus mine are now getting on for 10 yrs old so have lasted aggggggggggggges as well!!!

That's more my price range Rouge, I might get some cheaper ones for now that are hotter than the ones I have and save up little by little for GHDs

GHDs are amazing!

I resisted for years,but got some for £80.00 and they are ruddy ace, they hold the style IYSWIM. With the cheaper ones even the really hot ones the next day my thick coarse wavy hair fights back, but since the GHD's one straitening session lasts until wash day.

I have very thick, wavy hair. GHDs make my hair smooth and sleek. I have the normal ones, not the wider ones for thicker hair. They were worth every penny. Apparently their new hairdryer is excellent for taming crazy hair like mine.

I had my 1st pair of ghd's for 12 years. They died last summer (sob) The only thing I could replace them with was GHD's they are seriously the best.
