Calling all HOC winters.....

QueenCadbury · 21/04/2013 09:21

So, I had my colours done yesterday and I am now a sprinter winter. My best colours being royal blue, electric blue, damson, lagoon blue and light emerald.

Of course a shopping trip is now required Grin so I'm just after any inspiration by what you fellow winters have recently bought...

I think I'll be ordering something too. Or should I wait for a better offer than 11% off.

Some of the colours in the shops today hurt my eyes. I'd look at them and think 'who can carry this off?' As they were too strong even for a winter, I feel (some quite harsh purples and pinks). Still, means no spend.

I was hoping to have a good look at MAC lipsticks but the local shopping centre is so feeble that I couldn't find a counter. OTOH I found the Rich Red lipstick I love. It's by Estée Laude and they still make it. I didn't buy it yet.

mamijacacalys · 16/09/2013 19:56

Agree that there is much improvement with this season's Boden colours. Ordered the green wool cowl neck top in the preview but hasn't arrived yet so cannot comment on how good the colour actually is.

mamijacacalys · 16/09/2013 19:57

PS
MCES was working he other day for 20% off. Not sure if still valid.

KosherBacon · 16/09/2013 21:27

QC- you never updated us on how you were going to style your awesome Viv dress. We need an update.

LCHammer · 16/09/2013 21:35

Mami - I'll try that code tomorrow. DH at home tonight and he makes fun of me ordering and sending back.

MadAboutHotChoc · 17/09/2013 07:45

The code worked for me Smile broke my spending ban on bistro trousers, not very exciting but I have been thinking about getting these for ages.

LCHammer · 17/09/2013 08:37

I have a pair of black ones and they look v smart. Mind you, I haven't worn them much as I couldn't get into them anymore. All changing now, I've started the LC diet. I will have a proper look later. Dashing for a job interview.

MadAboutHotChoc · 17/09/2013 10:06

That's good to hear re these being smart.

(Good luck for the interview!)

MrsRadicchio · 17/09/2013 10:32

Is this pine green?

blouse

I am still confused!

Love those BR bags.

MrsRadicchio · 17/09/2013 10:33

Good luck LC!

MadAboutHotChoc · 17/09/2013 11:17

Yes it looks like pine green.

LCHammer · 17/09/2013 13:49

Interview went well but I'm not entirely keen on the hours & commitment needed.

Benetton was today's nice surprise. Sensible prices and some nice clothes. I didn't get anything because as soon as I'd set my eyes on something I remembered I have a few items just like that already. I liked a skater skirt but I'm between sizes so it can wait.

Now, what new hell is this new fashion of jumpers being wider than they are long. That's taking slouchiness to done extreme.

Does Benetton still exist? I haven't seen one for years. Used to love their cardigans.

Shame this is acrylic (I don't mind most fabrics but can't bear acrylic) jumper as it looks like a good ice colour.

I was having this conversation about Benetton with my DH only a couple of days ago. It's still as a concession in some shops and I think they still have the big Oxford St shop. This one was in Putney (and about the only good thing about Putney today - the rain didn't help).

I bought a couple of 'pashmina' shawls from Tie Rack: one purple and one fuschia.

I like that DP jumper. I've become very fussy about touch and I'd have to touch it to make sure it feels ok.

LCHammer · 18/09/2013 12:34

I ordered a tweed navy skirt from Boden, pink cardi, navy Diana coat. I tried the tweed skirt in previous years and sent if back, I don't know why I'm trying again as neither my body nor the design will have changed! BTW the 20% off code still works (thanks Mami).

QueenCadbury · 18/09/2013 14:35

Tie rack is another blast from the past. I didn't realise that they existed anymore either.

I tried this svarf on the other day and loved it until I took it off and it made my hair stand on end!!

OP posts:
Kesztrel · 18/09/2013 14:45

That's a shame Queen, it's lovely!

Kesztrel · 18/09/2013 14:47

PS I mainly clicked on that link cos I thought a svarf was an exciting new invention Grin

Kesztrel · 18/09/2013 15:45

Btw, I tried on the ice green DP bow-back jumper linked upthread - it's so pretty but doesn't feel very nice (squeaky and stiff!) and will look worn and bobbly after a few wears. It's a shame because I returned the ice green Topshop jumper for being too itchy! So am still on the hunt for ice green stuff.

LCHammer · 18/09/2013 20:46

Tie Rack is still around and colourful as ever.

On another note, I got the job I went for on Friday! Sorting out the details. Then I'll really have to tidy up my wardrobe so I don't spend too much time in the morning choosing clothes.

I like that blue in the scarf linked above. My new found fondness for blue.

QueenCadbury · 18/09/2013 21:55

kosher only just seen your post. I haven't decided how to style the viv dress yet. I have 6 weeks yet so thought I'd leave it for a bit to consider all options. Will be asking for ideas nearer the time though Grin

Been to Uniqlo, had a look at their cardigans and can report that is actually a gorgeous chinese blue and there are lots of winter shades not on the website including a beautiful emerald one and a deep pink colour.

MadAboutHotChoc · 19/09/2013 10:36

Actually having had a look at their website - the way their blues, greens and pinks come across is really bad, nothing like real life.

KosherBacon · 19/09/2013 13:26

MAHC we used to have a Uniqlo in Manchester, I never went, it closed down and then I discovered that it had actually been good all along. I go when I'm in London, which isn't that often anymore unfortunately.
