i mostly seem to wear dark skinnys and stripy tops . nearly all my clothes seems to be navy and white , neutrals really

what is the consensus on gold bags ? gold sandals ?
i thought i might accessorize with them for summer but seem to remember my nanna had a liking for gold . is it a good or a bad idea ?
help me stylish people !

Metallics are very in now, I have ahold and silver satchel, perhaps on there own though. Not shoes and bag.
There seems to be a lot of glitter about too

ok , so maybe not shoes and bag together then ! dont know if i am cool or warm i am fair skin and hair but will be slapping on the st moriz , maybe that will confuse the issue

I am wearing a lovely pair of pewter sandals at the moment. It's half way between silver and gold, and seems to go with everything.

Metallics sandals are lovely and will go with so much.
Some metallic bags are also nice, but IMO you have to choose carefully to avoid it looking too 'cheap'.

I'd go for silver, pewter or bronze. Lovely sandal colors and look fantastic on tanned feet. Gold is... you have to be quite certain of your style to pull it off, it can look mega-tacky.

And use metallics sparingly unless you are aiming for cruise ship chic

I've been debating this metallic peony & moore bag , i've got it in pink from 18mnths ago so know I like the shape.. I wouldn't wear it with silver shoes tho, prob tan to go with the trim on the bag..

I've been thinking about a metallic bag too. This Banana Republic one is lovely in RL or this Fossil one is a bit more casual.

I saw the P&M one but it looks very shiny in the photo so not sure?

I have the Banana Republic one and it is lovely. I am wearing out tomorrow for the first time! The colouring is really unique in that it would go with both gold and silver without being in your face/brash.

MrsSnow I've been dithering over it for ages. Agree it's a muted matte gold but kind of silvery too and could be versatile. I might have to take the plunge too!

I love silver shoes, ballet flats esp. I think it does depend on your skin tone though. Gold looks hideous on me, as I'm very pale and cool toned. Bronze also looks terrible but I saw a redhead in bronze shoes and it looked amazing! I want a metallic bag now...tempted by a pewter or silver Zatchels one after the Zatchels thread :)

I too am a big aficionado of navy, white and stripes (with the odd grey and khaki thrown in, but mostly I just look like a sailor) and am very fond of metallic sandals and accessories for pulling everything together.

I have two much-beloved pairs of cheap gold flat sandals (gladiatorish but not in a high-fashion way) but the most useful metallic shoes I ever had were a pair of darkish gold ballet flats from French Sole. They were bloody expensive but I didn't half get some wear out of them, and loads of comments.

I have also just started, after many years of only wearing silver and white gold, wearing small pieces of delicate gold jewellery round my face (ie small earrings and think necklaces) and I think it's super-flattering on blondes, even ones like me with quite pale but warmish skin.

mmecholet , hi! My personal opinion is that that P and M bag is just too big to be shiny metallic as well. It does have a pretty large surface area. I think their metallic clutch looks more covetable.

On shoes, am a big fan of the more subtle pewter colours. I don't like gold on myself - am a 'silver' person and am not mad about lots of it on others except on sunshine holidays where it seems to work better. And you can get some nice pale not-too-blingy golds, I must admit.

Laquila I had some darkish gold French Soles too. I can't remember what they called the colour - looked like a dark mix of gold, bronze and silver to me. They were soo useful, I wore them for years until they had holes in. I now have some silver ones which are equally useful and seem to go with everything! Worth the (silly) money IMO :)

Yes polyhymnia, but I love my pink Mariella, the size is perfect for me with DC's.. I also think with the tan trim it will make this easier to wear than a full metallic bag (which is why I can wear my pink one so much tbh).. I'm off to NYC in June and think this will be perfect... Got some cream & tan sandals which will go well too I reckon.. will report back if I order it tonight!

I had some of last years NEXT rose gold metallic ballerinas and I've worn them through already - wish french sole did a pair. They went with everything!

I have silver Pretty Ballerinas which are also very versatile.

HandsofaCrone I think you're right - cost per wear they were great value although I've just looked and the same style are around £120 now - think they were closer to £70 when I got them about 8 yrs ago, and I remember thinking that that was the most I would EVER spend on shoes! How wrong I was.

Laquila the first pair of French Soles I ever bought only cost £55! The price has jumped immensely, though that did seem very expensive at the time - it would have been nine or ten years ago I guess. Since then I've managed to get at least 3 pairs on eBay for around £30 because people seem to buy them without realising the sizing is crazily small.

Ahhhh I just looked on eBay and there's a pair of gold ones in good condition going for £20, ending in 21mins but size 4 (I'm a 6/7) - please someone buy them!! OP, are you a size 4?!
