How did we finish the other thread so fast...? Less than a month.

Wow, Ruby, just wow! I wouldn't give that up :) and the natural light thing would be a sticking point to. Can't say you sound sold...

Ds badgered and badgered until we got up - presents opened, he's plugged into the ps and I've retired back to bed with a cuppa..

bigTillyMint · 06/05/2013 08:28

I'm guessing it's the one of the fields?Smile

I also would struggle with a lack of natural light, especially in a rural location (don't expect London terraced to be all that light!) And I agree with BD, you don't really sound that keen! When we found our house, I knew before I got out of the car that it was the one, but I'm a great believer in gut-feelingsGrin
If it's a bit below budget, could you do any work to make it more how you want?

I'm willing myself to get changed and go to the gym.

Hmmm... The walled garden sounds fab - very useful with teens as you could chuck 'em outside with their mates! And decking area. And Envy to be not overlooked!
I like high ceilings and period features too - it is sounding quite appealing.

Is your current house a modern, huge windowed one?

motherinferior · 06/05/2013 12:17

House A sounds good from your write up...

herbaceous · 06/05/2013 12:28

Jesus. I have such a hideous hangover. Not helped by DS getting into our bed at 3.30am, and wriggling until 7.30. It's so bad, I can't even face a hair of the dog, which is probably the only cure.

bigTillyMint · 06/05/2013 13:14

Herbs, I should have a hangover, but so far, so good...

Bloody Mary?!

It's sounding more and more practical - parking, bus stop, near village and low flood risk (seems to be a major consideration these days)

So what doesn't it have? The view. Could you get that fix with dog walks, etc?

We have been pruning like mad in our miniscule garden and I am now all scratched up!

No don't - it's interesting! I quite often lurk on property threads!

We have artists open houses the next two weekends (loads of artists round here!) - great opportunity to nose around other peoples housesWink
And then there's the open gardens....

CointreauVersial · 06/05/2013 17:33

Currently on the train returning from a trip to Camden Market (requested by DD1). It was like the seventh circle of hell. There were however a few small pockets of charm, and I did come away with a lovely leather wrap bracelet and a few gifts. And I lunched on a falafel wrap the size of a small duvet and an icecream made with liquid nitrogen, so it wasn't all bad. DS had to be dragged away from the didgereedoos. Grin I'm now looking forward to a beer.

bigTillyMint · 06/05/2013 17:38

Oh God, Camden Market on a sunny Bank Hol - you are brave! We went up there with friendsa while ago and the DC were seriously underwhelmedHmm

DD is just back from Oxford Street with BF - similarly mobbed apparently. They are playing footy in the garden, around the clippings that DH has typically not binned yet...

Blackduck · 06/05/2013 18:55

Dp and I (and hound) on the (crumbling) terrace drinking cava. Three children playing sonic something or other and snacking on Oreos and milk.
Fab weekend
Ruby, keep telling us about the house - I am nosy too :) sounds like it might be a goer.....
Camden market - now that's a blast from the past...
I keep forgetting we now live in the sticks and went to a model shop specially for ds and it was closed :)

hattymattie · 06/05/2013 19:26

I'm in Provence - squatting in my generous friend's fab villa. The sun is out. I have rosé. I want to stay here foreverSmile

Thank you so much Ruby - actually it's late easter holidays here. Having a great one (although just separated eldest DD and DH from squabbling - some things never change).

Keep us posted on the house.

bigTillyMint · 07/05/2013 19:17

Ooohhh, house B? Smile

Happy Birthday Hatty!

Just been dealing with DS - pretty jangled after a nut-job from another school tried to attack himSad

He did absolutely the right thing though

QueenQueenie · 07/05/2013 19:51

Happy Birthday HM! Have a glass of rose for us...
Spill Ruby. Details please. It's always helpful to have comparisons IMO.
How awful BTM, hope he's OK. And what is the right thing to do??
Feeling a bit weary here. Why is that often the case after a Bank Holiday? Ought to make you perkier surely?

motherinferior · 07/05/2013 19:53

Happy birthday!!!

Yes, I'm knackered! D'you think a BH just gets one into a pleasantly idle mode? Also I feel creaky and achy, which is faintly alarming At My Age as I start worrying this is the start of a slippery creaky slope into Terminal Decline.

Blackduck · 07/05/2013 20:10

Happy Birthday Hetty.
I Wish I'd taken today off. I got a tongue lashing re the behaviour of one member of the team and the other member had a major rattle-out-of-pram strop.....
Meanwhile ds is ill and has taken to his bed.

Talking of which, where's Stropps and MrsS?
And, yes, ruby, spill...

bigTillyMint · 07/05/2013 20:11

Thanks QQ, he's fine nowSmile
He was very non-reactive (not physically aggressive anyway) and walked away without looking scared. Anyway, it now seems that half the school are ready to deal with the boys... Hope there is no further fall-out.

And yes, I feel weary after the BH - too much wine, maybe?!

MI, I hear your DD's school did spledidlySmile

motherinferior · 07/05/2013 20:58

At what, pray?
