What do you think to these?

lace dress
leather pumps

Nope, still not doing it for me iron.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/03/2013 18:31

No to both, sorry. The dress is likely to look cheap and feel scratchy irl, if the one I tried on at Christmas is anything to go by.

Other than the jeggings, I think M&S is almost always dreadful nowadays.

Hate lace dresses and the first reviewer was in the 65+ age range, wouldn't want to wear the same clothes as my mother!

polyhymnia · 16/03/2013 19:01

Think lace dresses have bee pretty much done to death on the high street by now and have to be really special to be stylish. I'm afraid I don't think it's likely that that one is. Even those near or over 60 deserve stylish dresses, IMO!

I'm also afraid I don't like those ballet flats at all - look rather cheap and tacky.

Haven't been on one of my expeditions to the Marble Arch M and S for a couple of months but, from everything seen elsewhere, they still just don't seem to be getting it right. A shame.

Ironbluemayfly · 17/03/2013 11:16

The leather on the shoes is better quality than the boden ones. I take your point about lace dresses being over though.

The shoes- why the contrast lining? Why not pink+pink; blue+blue?

(I do buy 99% of my mum boots shoes and work shoes from M&S though. One of the only places that does half sizes)

And I bought a faux fur trimmed cape in Feb. My DD was Hmm Shock Confused in equal measure.
"Where will you wear THAT mum"?

It's in my wardrobe for when I need something nice. Wink

PastaBeeandCheese · 17/03/2013 15:03

I really want to love M&S. There's a big one near me. DD and I love going there for free parking, helpful and friendly staff, nice baby changing room, yummy scone to share in cafe and choosing something nice for dinner and the clothes for her are good BUT I just can't find anything I would buy beyond tights, jeggings and pyjamas.

noddyholder · 17/03/2013 15:17

love this outfit

Bunbaker · 17/03/2013 15:25

I have £20 worth of M & S vouchers burning a hole in my pocket. I must go for a wander around.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 17/03/2013 15:26

The problem with the Ltd Collection stuff is that the fabrics are really awful. When it started, they had lots of cotton and silk.

Charliefox · 17/03/2013 15:27

I just bought these shoes today www.marksandspencer.com/Pointed-Toe-Bow-Slip-On-Pumps/dp/B004GFXONK?ie=UTF8&ref=sr_1_44&nodeId=1724548031&sr=1-44&qid=1363533916

I went to the Cheshire Oaks store, which is huge but I literally couldn't find one thing decent to buy, clothes wise. The place was deserted too.

Sugarbeach · 17/03/2013 15:55

Hmmmm....think you'd have to try it on to decide.....not liking that elasticated waist band on the dress already....

travailtotravel · 17/03/2013 18:32

They have loads of different colours and designs of those pumps and some of them are nice and quite comfy! Otherwise its work tops only for me!

polyhymnia · 17/03/2013 18:57

Some of the pumps are pretty, but not they're not thick-soled enough for me.

As an eg of how disappointing M and S are, saw a tote bag online from Autograph - £80 or so, thought it might be nice but actually saw it in RL this afternoon in my local M and S. It looked really cheap and nasty and much smaller than on screen too. No way £80 worth. A shame. They should be able to do good simple high quality basics.

Drywhiteplease · 17/03/2013 19:07

noddy I like that top a lot......on a black ban thoughSad
Charliefox nice pumps, looking for pointy toes,v in this spring

101handbags · 18/03/2013 15:40

I bought these Suede Pumps in teal a couple of weeks ago. I might get black too. M & S do have some pretty pumps and the odd nice item of clothing but I really only shop there now for food and knickers.

noddyholder · 18/03/2013 16:35

That dress is lovely Think I will go there and have a look tomorrow if I can get a chance

noddyholder · 18/03/2013 16:36

Does it just pull over head or does it have a zip?

NinaNannar · 18/03/2013 16:41

Prison cell block h

noddyholder · 18/03/2013 16:42

I suit that look lock up chic

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 18/03/2013 18:15

The grey dress is nice, quite Whistles-esque BUT the fabric isn't v good and the length of Autograph stuff is always frumpy unless you are v tall.

ivanapoo · 18/03/2013 18:20

It's made of cupro not silk, I think it pulled on but didn't try it myself as I'm breastfeeding so living in tedious uniform of stretchy vests and drapey cardigans

I think with the right accessories it would look great.
