All of the other ones are closed now and I still need some help!

Just back from Bravamisso in Reading, lady who helped me was great and I ended up leaving with 3 bras in size 38G, totally different to the 48C I have been wearing (although I did know that the band was too loose as I have lost weight)

Colourarc · 13/04/2013 13:48

Back from Bravissimo Covent Garden - I have 3 new bras, Satine in red, ivory & black - in size, wait for it - 38 G!

I think my 50 droop measurement must be droop with no substance Smile

Very pleased, feel like I'm not wearing a bra & my friend at work even said she can see the difference!

Thanks ladies Thanks

StatisticallyChallenged · 13/04/2013 14:05

Yey! Happy boobies :)

The cup is always the harder bit to measure for and only ever gives a start point really. It seems to be about right "on average" but does depend hugely on the firmness factor.

SorrelForbes · 13/04/2013 16:04

I love a bra success story, they're so uplifting (pun totally intended!)

trinity0097 · 13/04/2013 16:16

Feels a bit weird having by boobs higher up! I'm sure I will get used to it though! Husband thinks I look perkier!

StatisticallyChallenged · 13/04/2013 16:18

Having gone from a 48 to a 38 must make a massive difference to nork height trinity

LivesInLegoland · 13/04/2013 18:29

Had my first ever Bravissimo experience today. Went in a 34DD and came out a 30FF ! What a revelation it was and the staff in the Leamington Spa branch were fantastic. I am a convert and thanks to all the experts on MN for their advice.

Highlander · 13/04/2013 20:24

Even in a much smaller size, I'm shocked t how quickly the bras sagged after a couple of washes (even in a lingerie bag). £30 down the drain Sad

StatisticallyChallenged · 13/04/2013 20:29

Hmm which bras was it Highlander? Mine generally last fairly well (and I confess to always occasionally using the machine

SorrelForbes · 13/04/2013 20:45

LivesInLegoland The girls in the LS branch are very good indeed. I always drag my sister there when I'm visiting her.

Highlander That sounds odd. Mine seem to last at least 9 months to a year (with some gentle machine washing!)

SorrelForbes · 14/04/2013 10:35

Another interesting blog article here, this time about sister sizing and cup volume proportion.

Scienceisbeautiful · 14/04/2013 18:08

Hello all. I could do with some help with figuring out what sizes to try. If I post my measurements is anyone able to give me some guidance?

EMUZ · 14/04/2013 18:11

Hey science Smile
I am about if you need some help and I'm sure the bra intervention ladies will be back soon. Have you measured?

StatisticallyChallenged · 14/04/2013 18:20

Measure yourself according to the guidance on here (tightly underbust standing up, lean forward and measure overbust braless and dangling!)

Scienceisbeautiful · 14/04/2013 18:20

Yep, 29 under bust and 37 fullest part. Am I right in thinking that I should be going for something like a 30G? I understand about an inch for each cup size but do you include FF, GG etc?? I'm breastfeeding at the moment and pre pregnancy always wore a 32DD which felt comfortable but I'm not so sure now was correct. I've been wearing a 34F recently which although feels ok I'm pretty sure isn't quite right either. I'm starting to worry about the dreaded post-BF sag so want to make sure I'm as well supported as I can be. Thanks in advance Smile

EMUZ · 14/04/2013 18:29

Yes the inch includes double cup sizes so A B C D DD and so on
Some brands don't do an FF though so that may alter the size you need to try

StatisticallyChallenged · 14/04/2013 18:30

Based on those measurements you would want to start by trying a 28FF, 28G, 30FF and 30F. However - that is 2 or 3 cup size smaller than you are currently wearing. Is your current bra gaping badly in the cups?

Scienceisbeautiful · 14/04/2013 18:35

I wouldn't have said the cups were gaping badly but the band does seem a bit looser than it should. I'll try as you've suggested and see how I get on. Ta.

StatisticallyChallenged · 14/04/2013 18:38

If the cup isn't gaping hugely than you may need to try a larger cup than those listed - the cup is the harder bit to get by measurement so don't be scared to try say a 30G or 28GG which would be the same cup volume as the 34F (I miscounted above)

Beksybob · 15/04/2013 09:31

Today I am sporting this Debenhams delight in a 30DD

Nothing to compain about in particular for once, although it does kind of feel like wearing scaffolding! But I'm used to hanging free and easy, I suppose. It fits me better than the model, who I can see has got boob coming out of the side (right?). The cups sit further round on me anyway. I got it in the 30D and 30DD. The DD seems way bigger, so in a way the D is comfier because there is just less of it. I get a bit swallowed up in the DD, but it's not too big as such...what I am getting with both of them though is a bit of underarm bulge. Not directly under my armpit but at the back of it. My (long suffering) husband swears it's just a muscle, and that when i move my arms it gets trapped above the band. I think there is room in the cup for it if it were breast tissue, but it just won't stay there.

This one gave me actual cleavage for the first time ever, which was so exciting, but it was gappy - the bastard.

Anyway, I should probably stop prodding my boobs while at work.

Beksybob · 15/04/2013 10:47

I think I spoke too soon, it's starting to get unbearably tight and the central gore is digging in. Bummer.

SorrelForbes · 15/04/2013 10:52

Beksybob It sounds too me as if you need a bigger cup size in the bra you're wearing today. In that picture you've linked to, I would say that the model is wearing a bra that is probably about two cup sizes too small for her.

If you've got underarm bulge and the bra has started to feel too tight, it may be that your breast tissue is escaping because a) there isn't enough room in the cup and b) the band is too big.

Beksybob · 15/04/2013 11:05

Thanks Sorrel. I just checked and the bloody thing doesn't come in a bigger cup size. Or smaller band, but I'm pretty confident the band is ok as it was a bit of a struggle to fasten, even back to front!

This is so frustrating. It's never obvious (to me) when a cup is too small because I don't get quadraboob, no matter how small the cup. I just come out the sides...Sad

SorrelForbes · 15/04/2013 11:13

It sounds like the back is fine then, so logically it's got to be the cup size or the style/cut. It might just be one of those bras that just don't ever fit quite right!

When you get home, try the DD on again, scoop, wear it for a while and keep re-scooping.

Beksybob · 15/04/2013 11:23

That was the DD I was just wearing, but the underarm bulge appears immediatly upon moving my arms. Would have been interesting to try an E(!) but yeah, they don't make them. Which is a shame because I liked the fit more than any others I've tried (which is a lot!)

A bit like with shoes, it takes me a few hours of wear to realise they hurt.

I'm considering re-trying the Juna now I've more experience.
