Matte Red lipstick

Please help me in my quest....I've just taken the plunge & had my hair bleached to a platinum blonde. However, I am now desperate to find a matte true red lipstick to wear as my everyday lippie. Everywhere I look, the true in your face reds are glossy and the mattes are hideous wishy washy pastel shades.
My budget us very modest which obviously doesn't help Confused
TIA

MAC do a few, Ruby Woo (I think...) is one

drfayray · 24/02/2013 13:33

I have found a blue red called icon by hourglass. I am dark skinned though but this red makes me feel like a 1950s movie star! I also wear a nude for me shade sometimes.

Revlon do a beauty

mrsmindcontrol · 24/02/2013 13:38

MAC may well be beyond my affordability.
Do you know what the Revlonine us colditz?

This Mac one is gorgeous, I don't consider £14 to be that extreme. I also like Chanel ones but they're more glossy (and pricier!)

Pilfette · 24/02/2013 13:42

Ok, that's not the right colour, the right one is Ruby Woo...

colditz · 24/02/2013 13:44

It's called Matte 006 Really Red, by Revlon. I think it was about £8

colditz · 24/02/2013 13:46

here is a review and a colour comparison with Mac Ruby Woo

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B007L0DIIS/ref=mp_s_a_1?qid=1361714915&sr=8-6&pi=SL75 I love this one Saucy Sailor by Dainty Doll. Usually £12 but £3.50 on Amazon at the mo. Matte scarlet red, not drying.

YouCanCallMeBetty · 24/02/2013 14:11

sorry link fail, on phone

umiaisha · 24/02/2013 14:27

I just bought a nice one from Kate Moss range at Rimmel. Think it was under £6.00

MechanicalTheatre · 24/02/2013 14:40

Second Kate Moss by Rimmel. Stays on, not too drying and cheap enough.

Anyone who thinks everyone can afford £14 on a lipstick needs to wise up.

MechanicalTheatre · 24/02/2013 14:40

And thanks for that link, Betty! How cheap, been meaning to try that Dainty Doll stuff for ages.

JackieTheFart · 24/02/2013 15:25

You need to splash out for a decent red I think.

I like Mac Russian Red which is less bright than Ruby Woo, and Illamasqua Howl which is a bit more brick-red, but not hugely so. I love both but Howl is more daily wearable for me.

Another vote for the Kate Moss matte Rimmel one. Really good formulation. Very pigmented. Think it will look better than Ruby Woo too if you have platinum hair.

mrsmindcontrol · 24/02/2013 18:37

Excellent. Thanks everyone. I've ordered the Dainty Doll one. Bargain!
Will check out the Rimmel & Revlon ones in town this week.

Sadly MAC is definitely out of my price range. £14 is A LOT of money to me. Too much to justify spending on a lipstick.

Thanks again y'all.

You really don't need to splash out on lipstick. The rimmel one I have is better than the Mac one that I bought once that dried out my lips and went all cakey.

I bought the Dainty Doll one too.

Rihanna made me get the Mac Ruby Woo. She looks absolutely stunning in it - luckily we are the same complexion.
