Time for a new bra thread

I am officially a mad bra lady. I staged an intervention today in M&S in an attempt to stop a young lady buying a 36B. She was with her mum who told me her daughter was a size 12 and that's why they'd picked up a 36. I advised her to try a 30! I am now feeling a mixture of shame and pride.

They were like this Shock Confused

so i am not sure if this has been covered but i am a breastfeeding 34gg/h. am usually a 32 dd but have gained weight with the last baby:)
i probably need to get measured again as i have not since baby was born

Any recomendations where to go? i have found JL poor in the past ( usually 4 boobage/ breast infection)
I have a wedding to go too and will look much slimmer if i can get a feeding bra that will also lift the buggers my breasts and show the only slim part of my body.

any tips
thanks

pastagirl, Bravissimo are probably the best bet. There are some companies doing wired bras now - it is a myth that you can't wear wired bras when feeding, they just need to fit right!

FizzlingFireboxes · 01/03/2013 10:00

I've been wearing 38 DD Triumph bras for a few years, lately they don't seem to fit as well as they used to, think my shape has changed.

Under bust I measure 38" and over 45", what size should I be trying on?

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/03/2013 10:02

Fizzling on measurements a 38F, however you may also want to try a smaller back and bigger cup if you are slightly "squishy of torso" - maybe try a 36FF and 36G too

FizzlingFireboxes · 01/03/2013 10:05

Thankyou SC, going to order a few to try :D

treaclesoda · 01/03/2013 11:12

Have placed an order online and am awaiting a huge delivery and managed to get several things in my size, very much reduced. I have always worn a fairly good fit, I knew I had a small back but big cup, but I have learnt so much from blogs that people have recommended, as well as the discussions here, so I think there is room for improvement. If even one of the bras I've ordered is the perfect fit then I will be very happy indeed. And its always nice to have beautiful new underwear. Smile

Ha yes SC blueywhite Edinburgh born and bred here

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/03/2013 12:29

It's our own special Edinburgh-lass shade!

SorrelForbes · 01/03/2013 12:33

Hmmm, I'm very pale but with an olive undertone. Maybe that's why it works on me?

Hi, just sloping in from another thread where some kind people diagnosed me as 30FF. I'm 30 under and 38 over - is this right? Sob, my favourite bras only go up to E, I can probably still fit in a 32E can't I? The one I've got on now is 32DD - I have the four boob thing going on, big time.

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/03/2013 13:08

Fraid not but if you can link to your favourite we can hunt for something else similar? The 30ff sounds right

Juniper21 · 01/03/2013 13:08

Could you advise me please, am measuring 31 under and 39 over. Have various sizes & styles but never been happy with a decent fit. Thanks.

CelticPromise · 01/03/2013 13:13

30G/GG for starters Juniper

Juniper21 · 01/03/2013 13:17

Thank you :-)

Murtette · 01/03/2013 18:09

Inspired by all of the bra threads, I went into Bravissimo today and came out in a FF bra. Once I'd got over the shock (pre-DC, they measured me, told me I was a C cup and so to go else where) and realised how much better my boobs looked up by my chest rather than down around my knees, I began to realise the bra (which I'd worn out of the shop) is digging in in the armpits and between my boobs. At the top of each wire, I now have red marks and am wincing when I lift my arms. Presumably this isn't right? Or is it a question of getting used to a different shape/fit. I am rather podgy so there is plenty of underarm fat for the wires to dig into and I think that that is causing the problem. It was sold to me on the loosest fitting so its not as if I can make it any looser. Its miles to Bravissimo so I'm not looking forward to trekking all the way back there.

treaclesoda · 01/03/2013 18:24

In my experience, bras can become more comfortable after a bit of 'wearing in' but even so, I wouldn't expect to have red marks and wincing. I would guess that whilst it could well be the right size, the brand might just not be right for you. Some come up further at the sides, some are lower, some have more space in between the cups, some less etc. I have learnt a lot about fit from this blog, it might be of interest.

Murtette · 01/03/2013 18:34

Oh, that is interesting. I have a very full bra, fuller than anything I have worn for years and so I suppose the wires are coming up higher and so I'm feeling them in new places. And, actually, being back in underwires is a bit strange as I've either been in non-wired feeding or maternity bras for the last 18 months. I will give the bra another day or two to see if I get used to it but I think I may have to go back for a change of bra.

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/03/2013 18:43

IME a good bra is a little like shoes, they do tend to need some "breaking in" and if you have changed shape and size dramatically it could well be down to that. I would give it a little longer however Bravissimo are excellent at acknowledging their mistakes and I know of several cases where they have taken worn bras back if the fit isn't right.

Pseudonymity · 01/03/2013 18:52

Hi, upthread I was diagnosed as a FF with an 8 inch difference. But this blog linked to above says an 8 inch difference is a G in the UK: here Can anyone confirm? I want to be fully prepared when I go for a try on session. Thanks for all your help.

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/03/2013 18:57

She made a mistake further down and said a dd is 4 inches difference but I think it's actually 5. A,B,C,D,DD

Pseudonymity · 01/03/2013 18:59

But, isn't A the same size as the band?

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/03/2013 19:12

Not in the UK - AA is < 1" difference. I think she is trying to convert between UK and US and maybe having a few issues.

TheDoctrineOfSciAndNatureClub · 01/03/2013 19:21

Murtette did you scoop the underarm fat into the cup? That's boob, that is!

AmazingDisgrace · 01/03/2013 19:39

FAO Sorrel and SC: I have found it! (/Lucia half cup in red) on ebay in Germany. Never let it be said that I'm anything less than tenacious.

SorrelForbes · 01/03/2013 19:43

AmazingDisgrace Well done. I quite fancy one in red now...
