Tell me about the best foundations..

I was using a foundation by bourjois that I can't find in the shops now so need a new one! what foundations do you use and would recommend..

I'm loving Bobbi Brown - not cheap but lasts for ever as you need so little for good coverage. It's also the only shade that goes pale enough for my skin.

I have the foundation (for posh) and the BB cream for day to day wear and love them both.

I'm using Estee Lauder Double Wear but the "light" version and so far it seems very good and provides amazing coverage. Also does what it says and lasts on your face without making your skin bad.

Estée Lauder double wear is the best foundation I've ever used. And a bottle lasts for absolutely ages.

I'm using By Terry Cover Expert.

It's the best foundation I've ever used, it's pricey but a little goes a long way and it stays put all day, I absolutely love it!

MAC pro longwear, I have rosacea and this covers it and seems to feel cool somehow when I feel hot.

After many years of using only Chanel foundation, I was disappointed by their newest one I bought so quickly grabbed whatever Boots had on offer. It was Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum. Wow. I'll never go back to Chanel (I don't know if it's true about them being the same products). The texture is gel-like on my skin, easy to blend, and lasts all day looking rather dewy.

I'm quite unusual in that Estee Lauder Double Wear was horrendous on my skin, really drying it out and looking caked-on despite being a thin application. I'd like to try the By Terry one, it sounds gorgeous.

I have tried pretty much every foundation going, including pretty high end ones but my go-to at the moment is No7 Stay Perfect foundation - only 14 quid. I was colour matched with their new gadgety thing and I do very much like it. Only use a tiny bit over Clarins Beauty Flash Balm as a base. It does help that my skin has got pretty well-behaved since having DD though.

Best i have ever used are

Mac face and body is top
Estée Lauder double wear light
Clarins tinted moisturiser gives a lovely finish
Laura mercier tinted moisturiser

Another vote for Estee Lauder Doublewear. For me the search for the right foundation is like the Holy Grail!! Doublewear is closest I've found.

Used various Chanel ones for years but recently changed to Estée Lauder Doublewear and a love it for coverage that isn't too heavy but doesn't shift all day.

My favourites are ;

YSL touche eclat foundation
Clarins tinted moisturiser
Bare Minerals

I have combination skin with problem t-zone prone to makeup sliding off and these three are the best at coping with it.

Sorry to hijack thread, OP Blush but can anyway recommend any good foundations that aren't linked to animal testing? (eg I know Body Shop don't test, but they're owned by L'Oreal who do Angry .) So many formerly decent companies now involved with testing in order to sell in China. Sad

lots of votes for estee lauder doublewear so it can't be that bad, will pick it up during the week, hope it works for me! Find it so hard to get a foundation that looks flawless and perfect so when I find one I stick with it, have spent endless amounts of money on foundations that don't work for me! hope estee is the one! thanks for your help

Ask for a sample kissme and tell EL person you'll be back if it lives up to expectations! Tell them you can't work out if you would prefer doublewear or doublewear light and you should get a small sample of both ;)

I tried Double Wear but it didn't live up to the hype for me - maybe because I wasn't convinced on the colour match. It definitely does stay put but never looked like my skin.

I've just bought Lancome 24 hr Teint Idole after trying a sample and it's so much smoother to put on, the colour match is lots better for me and covers my many imperfections without being too heavy.

I agree about getting lots of samples before committing, nice foundation costs so much these days and I've wasted loads of money on the wrong ones (Clarins everlasting - thick and chalky, hated it!)

really, really like Bobbi Brown's Skin Foundation
lovely finish - not too matte, not too creamy
there's a good colour range, particularly if you are pale or pinky.

definitely agree that when you find the right one you don't need much to get good coverage, so it's worth spending a bit if you can

What's your skin colour and is it dry/normal/greasy.

I like B Brown for her pale colours but have yet to find a formala that really sutis me. The Mositure Rich just disappears in 2 hours even using primer ( and I have normal to dry skin), the stick foundation is okay but a it "flat" looking, the long last one was okay but it is very matte- if you like that look. I am now going to try her skin foundation.

You might like Clinique, if you have medium toned skin- try the Superbalanced or Perfectly Real.

Lancome Teint Miracle has a good colour range as does their Idole- but the Teint Miracle has a huge amount of alcohol in it- you can smell it. This is very bad for skins- a source of potential irritation.

E Lauder Doube Wear is IMO very very matte and gives a mask-like made up look. I have only had a sample but wouldn't buy.

If you want a really matte finish then DW is an option but IMO only it screams "made up"!

I have just bought the Dior nude and I'm not convinced.
Could be putting that one on Ebay.

It doesn't give enough coverage..I want luminous, non-matte for my 52 year old skin.

Clinique Repair Wear might suit. I had to give up on it because they discontinued the 2 lightest shades. Had used it for years and years. Some people say it's thick etc but if you use a pea size amount and blend well, it gives really good coverage without looking flat.

I couldn't sample DW as I'm too pale and not interested in Oompa Loompa. Tried DW light but wasn't convinced. Teint idole I fount had the consistency of glue - it wouldn't have come off in a hurricane mind.

Am currently totally in love with chanel's vitalumiere which gives coverage but still had some lucidity about it.

Hang on a minute MrsRobertDuvall.... I thought Dior Nude Skin WAS luminous? I went to a dior counter on Friday. There were no samples and though I liked the look of it, the SA tried about 5 or 6 shades on my hand. She had me so confused that I thought I'd better stick with my EL DW Light. I bought that for the 3rd time running but the Dior woman kept telling me the Nude was a luminous effect and not "flat" in any way Confused
