Tell me about the best foundations..

I was using a foundation by bourjois that I can't find in the shops now so need a new one! what foundations do you use and would recommend..

Dior Nude shouldn't be powdery anymore, they reformulated it last year so it's more of a gel base like YSL's Touche Eclat (but not quite as glowy). If you want a more glowy one from Dior the Forever one is gorgeous.

Also a big fan of Lancome's Teint Miracle, Teint Idole. Now hoping to get to try out the new Visionaire foundation which looks very glowy and comes with a concealer in the lid (probably v expensive!)

Perfection Lumiere is nice, but not very glowy. I use if for filming and I don't want people reflecting light all over the place!

Illamasqua don't test on animals. MAC used to claim this but now sell in China so not too sure. Nars don't test on animals either. I have been reading that there is to be an EU-wide ban on anyone bringing out any cosmetics after March 2013 that have been tested on animals.

The perfect foundation for me is a mixture of YSL Touche eclat and Bobbi Brown long lasting. 50%/50% mixed on the back of my hand and applied with a foundation brush then blended very lightly with my fingertips.

Only started using it last week and have had about 5 people say how amazing my skin looks!

Have not tried EL. I have been wearing Dior Nude for a few years and really like it. Not at all powdery on me.

Recently got a YSL sample and like that too. Very natural looking.

YSL Touche eclat - natural looking with coverage. Also Lancome teint idole 24hr also good but I found it difficult to get a shade match for my skin.

I currently use YSL Touché éclat one, DH says it looks good but it looks really shiny to me I'll use it up but not sure I'd buy again tbh. Don't see the point in using powder to mattify it if it's meant to look like this. I was using Bourjois healthy mix serum but had been lusting after this, not quite sold but I've only worn it for a couple of days. I'll probably try Vitalumiere next because I'm a sucker for branding

Definitely try a sample of DW first, I hated it.

The issue for me with Chanel is the limited colour range- they only do about 8 and they are all too dark or too yellow.

Hang on a minute MrsRobertDuvall.... I thought Dior Nude Skin WAS luminous? I went to a dior counter on Friday. There were no samples and though I liked the look of it, the SA tried about 5 or 6 shades on my hand. She had me so confused that I thought I'd better stick with my EL DW Light. I bought that for the 3rd time running but the Dior woman kept telling me the Nude was a luminous effect and not "flat" in any way

I couldn't sample DW as I'm too pale and not interested in Oompa Loompa. Tried DW light but wasn't convinced. Teint idole I fount had the consistency of glue - it wouldn't have come off in a hurricane mind.

Am currently totally in love with chanel's vitalumiere which gives coverage but still had some lucidity about it.

Clinique Repair Wear might suit. I had to give up on it because they discontinued the 2 lightest shades. Had used it for years and years. Some people say it's thick etc but if you use a pea size amount and blend well, it gives really good coverage without looking flat.

I have just bought the Dior nude and I'm not convinced.
Could be putting that one on Ebay.

It doesn't give enough coverage..I want luminous, non-matte for my 52 year old skin.

What's your skin colour and is it dry/normal/greasy.

I like B Brown for her pale colours but have yet to find a formala that really sutis me. The Mositure Rich just disappears in 2 hours even using primer ( and I have normal to dry skin), the stick foundation is okay but a it "flat" looking, the long last one was okay but it is very matte- if you like that look. I am now going to try her skin foundation.

You might like Clinique, if you have medium toned skin- try the Superbalanced or Perfectly Real.

Lancome Teint Miracle has a good colour range as does their Idole- but the Teint Miracle has a huge amount of alcohol in it- you can smell it. This is very bad for skins- a source of potential irritation.

E Lauder Doube Wear is IMO very very matte and gives a mask-like made up look. I have only had a sample but wouldn't buy.

If you want a really matte finish then DW is an option but IMO only it screams "made up"!

lovely finish - not too matte, not too creamy
there's a good colour range, particularly if you are pale or pinky.


definitely agree that when you find the right one you don't need much to get good coverage, so it's worth spending a bit if you can

I tried Double Wear but it didn't live up to the hype for me - maybe because I wasn't convinced on the colour match. It definitely does stay put but never looked like my skin.

I've just bought Lancome 24 hr Teint Idole after trying a sample and it's so much smoother to put on, the colour match is lots better for me and covers my many imperfections without being too heavy.

I agree about getting lots of samples before committing, nice foundation costs so much these days and I've wasted loads of money on the wrong ones (Clarins everlasting - thick and chalky, hated it!)

Ask for a sample kissme and tell EL person you'll be back if it lives up to expectations! Tell them you can't work out if you would prefer doublewear or doublewear light and you should get a small sample of both ;)

lots of votes for estee lauder doublewear so it can't be that bad, will pick it up during the week, hope it works for me! Find it so hard to get a foundation that looks flawless and perfect so when I find one I stick with it, have spent endless amounts of money on foundations that don't work for me! hope estee is the one! thanks for your help
