Does anyone else hate 3/4 length sleeves as much as I do?

I can't stand them - but nearly everything has 3/4 length sleeves now, when are they going to get over this fad??? I hate it when you put a cardi on over a top with 3/4 sleeves (and you have to, because you're cold) and they just ride up inside the cardi sleeve, it's so uncomfortable. I'm really cross now.

I have long enough arms without 3/4 sleeves making them look frekishly long! Grrr.

ZZZenAgain · 13/01/2013 23:17

I have some and I don't like them but they are better than overly long full-length arms which hang half way down over your hands

nickelbabe · 14/01/2013 14:12

ZZZZ - i love overly long sleeves - I have the option to cover my hands if they get cold!

LaurieBlueBell · 14/01/2013 14:29

I bloody love them [grin[

I really like them...sorry op!

EnjoyResponsibly · 14/01/2013 14:35

I love them. I have long arms so sleeve length is an issue.

I have lovely wrist jewellery so 3/4 sleeves work for me.

MissBeehivingUnderTheMistletoe · 14/01/2013 14:37

What not to love? Practical, stylish. I love them

BikeRunSki · 14/01/2013 14:44

I hate them, just don't see the point, especially on coats!

changeforthebetter · 14/01/2013 22:34

I hate them.... Not as much as finish-at-the-elbow ones. They cut my shortish arms in half and make them look much fatter than they are Angry

GraduallyGoingInsane · 15/01/2013 14:42

I love them. I'm on the small side, so full length sleeves hang over my hands, end up trailing in everything, get filthy. On me, 3/4 look a million times better, are more practical if I'm busy and show off my bracelets!

I get what you mean about the cardigan/jacket thing - I have perfected a weird manoeuvre when putting on cardigans and jumpers, or suit jackets. Put hand in sleeve of jacket, shove spare hand up jacket sleeve, grab end of 3/4 sleeve shirt, hold on, pull jacket on. Then let go of 3/4 sleeve and pull spare hand out. Works every time.

BobbiFleckmann · 15/01/2013 14:45

I love them. I have the wrists of a consumptive Victorian, and I'm damn well going to try and convince people that I'm "delicate" all over. Jacket thing - I have some 3/4 length jackets too...

butteroneverything · 15/01/2013 19:04

I hate them too.

But (and I don't know how true this is), I was once at a hen do where there was a stylish booked for entertainment and one of her 'rules' was to always wear 3/4 length sleeves or to push long sleeves up to that level. She said it emphasised your waist as the sleeve cut-off point is kind of at waist height.

I get too cold to ever give it a try but she was pretty convincing at the time...

spudmurphy · 20/01/2013 10:00

What use are 3/4 sleeves now in this cold weather Grin
Please make winter dresses long sleeved ( so my thermals can go underneath!) . A cardigan can spoil the look of a dress.

noddyholder · 20/01/2013 10:03

Love them

Deathwatchbeetle · 20/01/2013 14:26

Don't mind them at all but I absolutely hate the look of short sleeved jackets. Eugh!

magso · 20/01/2013 15:04

I like slim stretchy 7/8 sleeves (as I am short some 3/4 are 7/8 on me) but hate anything that rides up. 7/8 are long enough to keep you warm but short enough to keep out of the way. 3/4 sleeve PJ tops are freezing as are shorter sleeves on coats especially the wider sleeves that funnel the wind up your arms.

senua · 20/01/2013 15:14

"She said it emphasised your waist as the sleeve cut-off point is kind of at waist height."

Eh? I find that three quarter sleeves end at the point as the lower hem of the garment and so make a wider silhouette. Not a good look.Hmm

I've just measured it on me -waist height is elbow, not 3/4.

spudmurphy · 20/01/2013 16:28

But it's bloody freezing!

Bunbaker · 20/01/2013 16:34

"I hate long sleeves unless its freezing. Constantly pushing them out the way, and they just feel uncomfortable."

But it is freezing. It is January and we have snow. Where I live it will be cold for another four months at least.

I saw a lovely jumper the other day and was tempted to try it on. When I picked it up and saw that the sleeves were only 3/4 length I put it back. Surely the whole point of a jumper is to keep you warm. When the weather is warm I don't want to wear a jumper or 3/4/length sleeves. I prefer short sleeves or sleeveless.

I agree with you loveyoutothemoonandback. 3/4 length sleeves are utterly pointless and impractical for those of us with long arms.

Murraylover · 20/01/2013 16:38

Love them. Great for petites

Viviennemary · 20/01/2013 16:40

I don't particularly like them but they are OK in a summery cardigan. But M & S has or at least had coats with three quarter sleeves. Now that is totally mad.

piprabbit · 20/01/2013 16:42

I love my 3/4 length sleeves.
I wish there were more of them available. I hate sleeveless tops and dresses with a passion.

Snog · 20/01/2013 17:32

I find them hugely unflattering and it annoys me how hard it is to find any other sleeve length.

Elbow length I like.

Bunbaker · 20/01/2013 18:33

"I wish there were more of them available."

I wish there was a choice of tops in 3/4 length and full length sleeves. Then us long armed people who feel the cold easily are happy and so are you.
