I'm looking for a beautiful scarf.

The trouble is that I don't know what exactly I'm looking for Confused

I don't want lightweight. I don't want a woolly, knitted look. Something oversized is what I'm after, and warm, but must be gorgeous! Will probably mostly wear with a navy wool coat. Budget? Up to £100 I think, but preferably a bit less.

Have you looked in John Lewis? I can easily spend loads in there if I'm not careful!

WowOoo · 09/01/2013 13:52

i saw some loovely ones in Fenwick sale the other day. Gerard Darel (which I think is a little bit mature lady) reduced to £40. Wish I'd bought it - some of the designs had lots of colours and would go with so much that I wear.
They had lots of other nice ones in the scarf section - do you live near a Fenwicks?

WowOoo · 09/01/2013 13:53

There was one that would be perfect with navy coat in the G Darel, forgot to say.

snowgal · 09/01/2013 13:56

I absolutely adore Ruth Cross all her stuff is hand knitted and is a little bit different

Big fan of Plumo too, they have a great range of unique scarves and the sale is on at the moment :)

dottyaboutstripes · 09/01/2013 13:59

I don't live near any decent shops I'm afraid.
I did have a look at Plumo this morning, the scarf I'd had my eye on before Christmas is gone but there were possibles Smile
I'm so sick to death of shopping online and returning things but it must be done when you live in the back of beyond Confused

These are lovely, though pricy

lilyandlionel.com/scarves.html

I have two and have had lots of wear from them.

WowOoo · 09/01/2013 14:14

Those lilyandlionel ones are gorgeous.
I want at least 5 of them. I might get one with some birthday money I've kept.

AmberNectarine · 09/01/2013 14:14

Wowooo most of my workwear is Gerard Darel and I'm 28!

Interesting about the scarves though. I love their stuff.

Second Lily and Lionel, also Mercy Delta, Maje and Sandro.

I have recently discovered Alice Hannah wool shawls. I had never heard of this make until I picked up a gorgeous beret in TK Maxx. I have since treated myself to a couple of her striped shawls - well, they call them shawls (warm as they are wool but not chunky) but they are really just large scarves that you can knot in a suitably chic way. I got mine from Amazon.

WowOoo · 09/01/2013 14:19

Sorry Amber, my Mum used to wear a lot of it so i just guessed it was old lady ish. Maybe she was just a hipster!

Right Dotty, I'm about to spend a silly amount on scarves and it is all your fault!
Have you chosen yet

dottyaboutstripes · 09/01/2013 16:40

What do we think of this little beauty?

I'm still looking but not sure I've found what I want. It's so hard to tell from a photo...

OP posts:
valiumredhead · 09/01/2013 16:44

That is beautiful but I would want it to be really over sized as I like my scarves extra long!

Chaoscarriesonagain · 09/01/2013 16:48

I have a Nicole de beavoir Paris 100% silk scarf I've never worn that is not my taste if you fancy. White and blue, happy to send on!

WowOoo · 09/01/2013 16:48

It's lovely, I really like it.
I held off buying and am going to have another look tomorrow if work is slow.
Any other websites you've found worth a look?

dottyaboutstripes · 09/01/2013 16:49

Nope, not yet. Will get on the case again later!

Liberty have got some in the sale (including Lily and Lionel) that are under £100. Some of the Yarnz ones are nice. If you mouseover the pictures you can see the scarf flat, which is a nice feature.

LadyWellian · 09/01/2013 17:00

Oops, sorry, forgot to paste the actual link!

that one at Anna is nice dotty. I've also spent forever looking for a scarf and ended up with a huge cashmere one from Yarnz in the NAP sale which arrived this morning - am very pleased with it. I would link, but it's sold out. Shopbop have some nice things, but they are unreturnable, so you'd have to be pretty sure you liked it.

christineveldman · 10/01/2013 08:02

I found this wonderful webshop the other day: www.countingflowers.co.uk. They have a great collection of lovely scarves. Including lovely cashmere scarves of which I bought one. Super soft and versatile. It might be something for you as well.

christineveldman · 10/01/2013 08:03

Sorry made the same mistake, here with the actual link: www.countingflowers.co.uk

CointreauVersial · 10/01/2013 22:08

I was going to suggest Primark scarves, loads of designs, £4 a pop, but I realise you are on a totally different budgetary level.

dottyaboutstripes · 10/01/2013 22:50

I have a Primark scarf. It cost me 100 pennies!
