Normally I ignore opinions but he opines rarely if ever.
Says they don't look bad physically. Just a bit desperate. A bit loose women (triple gasp !)

This was enough to take them off.

Where does your partner stand on stuff ?

mine only ever says anything positive (which does . mean sometimes he says nowt lol)

re:pleather there is a woman at work in her 50s who would look amazing in these,so it is more than just age.

MrsDmitriTippensKrushnic · 23/12/2012 08:35

I think they look a bit odd for daytime wear unless you're a teenager or a sleb tbh (and slebs look odd too, it's just that we're used to them being overdressed for the occasion!) I have to admit though that I'm fairly old and still more associate them with Gothy/Rock chick types and get a bit squirmy about the mainstreaming of certain looks, which probably makes me a bit of an inverted snob tbh.

Cybbo · 23/12/2012 08:36

My h only ever says positive things. Would ignore him even if he didn't. Me thinks you're not 100%sold on them if you're paying attention to him

noddyholder · 23/12/2012 08:39

I agree with him you are too good fr those geta pair of jet black tight skinnies instead elegant and a little bit rock and roll rather than tv presenter at Xmas do

noddyholder · 23/12/2012 08:40

My dp v complimentary but hates wooly dresses and done hair!

noddyholder · 23/12/2012 08:49

I think if you can't wear them as intended eg messy hair minimal make up scruffy boots they look very ageing and naff on older made up hair done types. I inc myself here btw Smile

MariahScarey · 23/12/2012 08:59

I think was a bit undecided. So listened.

It's weird when your partner doesnt like something

MariahScarey · 23/12/2012 09:13

Especially when he never comments normally.

Need to show to blunt friend.

sassytheFIRST · 23/12/2012 09:15

I need a blunt friend. Mine are far too polite and sisters live too far away for regular advice.

noddyholder · 23/12/2012 09:16

Nor does mine but hated one jumper dress and said te dreaded mumsy! I had those leggings but with long boots and big jumper they didn't really look too bad but they are loose women he is right!

MariahScarey · 23/12/2012 09:22

He said they look like I'm some kind of cougar. Replaced with new look pencil sequin affair.
He said much more chic.

OP posts:
noddyholder · 23/12/2012 09:24

God yes. Pmsl @ cougar men funny

noddyholder · 23/12/2012 09:24

Sequins at 9 am I salute you!

DonaAna · 23/12/2012 09:24

I tried a pair of leather leggings last summer and they made me feel desperate and try-hard. Like someone quite who wears too much makeup, drinks too much and preys on young men in bars. Cougar in short.

Many people look good in leather and pleather leggings, I'm just not one of them.

Maybe they clash with your personal style?

DonaAna · 23/12/2012 09:26

Sorry about garbled words, I should learn to preview.

Instead, I bought a Martin Margiela leather pencil skirt.
That looks and feels great.

ifancyashandy · 23/12/2012 09:30

I'm 43 and I look freaking GREAT in mine! Wear them with biker boots, t-shirt or oversized shirt or jumper and a tuxedo jacket. Messy hair, smokey eyes and a fag plus JD and Coke. If Chrissy Hynde can do it!

Wear mine to work n'all. But I have got incredible legs Xmas Grin!

Cybbo · 23/12/2012 09:34

Ahem...whose going to want your second hand sweaty pleather leggings?

MariahScarey · 23/12/2012 09:59

Lol. No this was last night!!

OP posts:
MariahScarey · 23/12/2012 09:59

Lol at legs.
There's no issue with the legs. My look is not washed up rocker

OP posts:
ggirl · 23/12/2012 10:03

mine hates anything smocky or vaguely maternity like , otherwise everything is positive
I have blunt dd to rely on for honest opinions

Hopefully · 23/12/2012 11:02

I think if they aren't you, they aren't you, iykwim. I have leather leggings and wear them about 3x per week, but they are absolutely my style and go in lots of situations (work, evenings out and quite casual).

Hopefully · 23/12/2012 11:03

Incidentally, I have a friend who for a laugh tried on a leather jacket of mine, which I loved. She looked like an actual hooker. It is very much down to personal style, body shape and personality, not just 'fashion'.
