Normally I ignore opinions but he opines rarely if ever.
Says they don't look bad physically. Just a bit desperate. A bit loose women (triple gasp !)

This was enough to take them off.

Where does your partner stand on stuff ?

Sweetie, there is nothing 'washed up' about me!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/12/2012 11:06

I have never seen a real life, non airbrushed person look okay in leather leggings and pleather is even worse. Though I am sure that Shandy and Hopefully are the exceptions to that.

My dp tends to just let me get on with it. He'd like me to care less about what others think and he'd like me to see that I am not fat and therefore can still wear short skirts/tight jeans without the major panic I tend to have when doing so.

Pencil sequin thing sounds much nicer.

ifancyashandy · 23/12/2012 11:21

Well, I had someone tell me they thought they looked horrible - until they saw me in them, so I must be doing something right with my styling Grin

dickiedavisthunderthighs · 23/12/2012 11:33

I don't know too many people who'd tell someone they look horrible to their face in fairness Shandy Wink But horses for courses, if you like your look then its only your opinion that matters!

ifancyashandy · 23/12/2012 11:35

Bugger that, I want others to think I look good too Xmas Grin

MoomieAndFreddie · 23/12/2012 12:49

i love em

sod what your H thinks i say

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 23/12/2012 12:52

My H isn't keen on tracksuits

I concur

If I were to wear pleather leggings, he would think he was on a promise Wink

scripsi · 23/12/2012 12:54

I have a pair from last year which look surprisingly flattering. However they are still unworn because I have never found anything that looks good with them. I am thinking a sloppy top of some kind. Could any of you successful leather leggings wearers link to the actual thing you wear on top

Hopefully · 23/12/2012 18:11

I wear mine with literally everything. Examples include:

  • with plum coloured pointy LKB heels and an off white shirt and gold accessories for work
  • with a long racer back vest, blazer and aforementioned LKB heels for night out type stuff
  • with long layering tops and biker boots (DM shearling lined ones with thick satin laces)
  • with any and all chunky knitwear and biker boots or suede ankle boots

My leather leggings are v matt leather, incidentally, which I like. And they aren't black, they are a dark forest green.

MrsCampbellBlack · 23/12/2012 20:24

I like my leather leggings - and don't look too Jane MacDonald in them. Have worn mostly out with silk shirt.

Its how you wear them surely as with most items.

My DH very rarely comments on my clothes either though so if he was Hmm about something it would really put me off.

judefawley · 23/12/2012 21:40

I have the pleather. My H thinks they're v sexy (unless he's lying).

I wear them er, low key. With heels but sloppy plain top and no glitziness.

Jayne McDonald would be the worst insult I could ever get.

shoppingbagsundereyes · 23/12/2012 22:05

Good god, you've bought pleather leggings! I am with H

shoppingbagsundereyes · 23/12/2012 22:09

Btw, surely I am your best bet for 'blunt friend'? Why did you not ring?
I would be most concerned about sweaty crotch in skin tight plastic. That and people thinking I was on my way to an S and M club

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/12/2012 22:12

Saw somebody wearing them in Starbucks the other day with a short top. She had a nice enough figure but looked ridiculous. Then friend told me that she thought they'd look amazing on me - friend is clearly insane.

Snowkey · 23/12/2012 22:33

They look a bit too Isabella Oliver old tart for me but dh would never comment on my clothes, he's too scared!

sassytheFIRST · 23/12/2012 22:34

Surely galloping thrush??

scripsi · 23/12/2012 22:46

hopefully thanks for the tips. I am going to be seeking pointy heels and slouchy knitwear in the sales.

SantasENormaSnob · 24/12/2012 10:31

They are definitely not what I'd associate with chic and classy.

More primark imho.

DameFannyGallopsBEHINDyou · 24/12/2012 10:48

Nothing wrong with a washed up rocket - Chrissie Hind is still an icon...

But I can't even say pleather without pulling a face. And they sound like a sure fire recipe for crotch-rot.
