Help! Black ankle boots for work that aren't Mum boots

NorbertDentressangle · 04/12/2012 14:37

I need some black ankle boots for work -they need to be smart, they are for wearing under trouser and need to be flat or with a low heel (I don't do heels and there's a fair bit of walking around and being on my feet involved).

I'm really struggling in finding any as, to me, they all look like Mum boots. Any that are vaguely OK seem to have heels.

Any suggestions please?

Brogues?

NagooHoHoHo · 04/12/2012 14:56

you can tell me to fuck off, but I did try Wink

AmberNectarine · 04/12/2012 15:17

I love these

NorbertDentressangle · 04/12/2012 15:59

Nagoo - would I be so rude Wink.

I'll just politely decline to say anything (cos I've been brought up all proper like Grin) but they are pretty hideous I'm afraid

Amber- your link just takes me to the JL home page

Try this one

mamaonion · 04/12/2012 16:16

I got these following recommendation on mn, look good with skinnies and dresses, although suede factor makes them slightly less practical, stack heal is weeny and very comfy but enough to get a compliment at the school gate ;) 1&categoryId=&searchTerm=Adios&pageSize

Are those Clarke boots mum boots? Never knew what that meant!

CQuin · 04/12/2012 16:17

mama thing - link bnot working

CQuin · 04/12/2012 16:19

that takes to home page

NorbertDentressangle · 04/12/2012 16:36

CQuin -those are definitely too high for me I'm afraid.

mamaonion -those are quite similar to others i've found that I've thought might do the job apart from the fact they're suede.

Its like these ones - I like the shape, heel height etc but they're suede (also not too keen on the different colour heel)

oops try this link

They're nice too. Suede thing is annoying as will get trashed but I spent ages looking and were nearly all suede in that style!

PerryCombover · 04/12/2012 16:56

Pistols

CQuin · 04/12/2012 16:56

Not at all. I'm in year 2 of mine. Suede protector

Bilbobagginstummy · 04/12/2012 16:59

I like Moshulu.
I am not stylish but they don't look mumsy, whatever you might say about them.

Rattitude · 04/12/2012 17:00

This thread in unintentionally very funny as it has the most failed links that I have ever come across in so few posts. Grin

noddyholder · 04/12/2012 18:14

i have these old but comfy and useful and go with most things. They are common as muck though Grin

RayofSun · 04/12/2012 18:48

I love your suggestion amber. Saw them the other day and am secretly coveting!

I've got <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=episode+buckle+boots&num=10&hl=en&tbo=d&biw=1024&bih=541&tbm=isch&tbnid=Ju2BKdmum4fk7M:&imgrefurl=m.houseoffraser.co.uk/Episode%2BPrestine%2Be%2Blow%2B3%2Bbuckle%2Bboots/163242604,default,pd.html&docid=B-5aoQbGQ0oZwM&itg=1&imgurl=houseoffraser.scene7.com/is/image/HOF/I_163242581_52_20111206%253Ffmt%253Djpg%2526layer%253D0%2526size%253D288,384%2526wid%253D288%2526hei%253D384%2526layer%253D1%2526src%253DI_163242581_52_20111206%2526size%253D288,384%2526qlt%253D65%2526wid%253D288%2526hei%253D384%2526op_usm%253D1,1,0,0&w=288&h=384&ei=uWi-UOyXMMuS0QXLvYDYDw&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=216&sig=113853815888224894975&sqi=2&page=1&tbnh=143&tbnw=96&start=0&ndsp=20&ved=1t:429,r:4,s:0,i:93&tx=59&ty=85" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">these in black. I don't care if they are mum boots as I bloomin' love them. I do get told that I look like a tiny pixie quite frequently when wearing them though, if that bothers you!

NorbertDentressangle · 04/12/2012 21:42

Perry - I thought you'd posted on the wrong thread for a moment with "Pistols" but then twigged.

TBH I'm not convinced that Pistols aren't mum boots in (a very expensive) disguise Shock Wink
