Help! Black ankle boots for work that aren't Mum boots

NorbertDentressangle · 04/12/2012 14:37

I need some black ankle boots for work -they need to be smart, they are for wearing under trouser and need to be flat or with a low heel (I don't do heels and there's a fair bit of walking around and being on my feet involved).

I'm really struggling in finding any as, to me, they all look like Mum boots. Any that are vaguely OK seem to have heels.

Any suggestions please?

These are the ones I want at the moment

Want them in suede, though they also come in leather.

Don't care if anyone thinks they're mum boots - I've tried them and really like them. Only thing is, December isn't a great month for splashing out that sort of money on myself!

What's wrong with mum boots?

MerylStrop · 04/12/2012 23:26

mum boots are now fashion

the new mum boots are anything bikerish

MerylStrop · 04/12/2012 23:27

ergo you can't really go wrong

I missed the boat on lots of the Isabel Marant lookalike boots but am still hunting for them - I do want suede (sorry for the hijack). I want them to be low cut in the front because I am short of leg.
Would these fit the bill do you think? www.asos.com/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=2118545

For you OP how about these?

or
these (which look luxurious in real life)

PerryCombover · 05/12/2012 01:16

dms mebbe not worky, depends on your work

I think these Hobbs are fetch but not black

all saints divine

pied a terre with a wee bit of marant styling

muimui lookalikes but not worky depending on what you do

noddyholder · 05/12/2012 14:12

Perry 'dealer' boots takes me back Smile Never heard anyone apart from my old muckers refer to them as that

noddyholder · 05/12/2012 14:14

I want those all saints ones Have been looking for something just like that but ££££££££

NorbertDentressangle · 05/12/2012 14:27

I like the All Saints ones too but not sure they'd go with smart work wear? Anyway, whether they do or not doesn't matter as they're a bit too expensive!

Thanks for all these suggestions -I am looking at all the links and bearing in mind the ones that would be OK.

I still haven't found one that makes me go "Yes!" yet though but I think that's because they're just not the sort of thing I would choose to wear IYSWIM.
