Have lost a bit of weight recently and am revamping my wardrobe slowly. I'm currently looking for a dress to wear for Xmas parties but don't want all black. Am also trying to get away from my old M&S "mumsy" look which was designed to cover all the lumps and bumps!

Please be kind if you don't like as this is my first thread in here!

Hmm, it's okay but I don't think it's amazing. Plus it's the kind of dress that once I've seen you wear it to one party then I'd remember it if we were at the same party together over the christmas period, ifykwim?

BunnyLeBOOwski · 22/10/2012 19:13

I think that for that money you can do much much better.

Imo that's a very frumpy mumsy dress. And I really dislike monochrome but that's just me.

What size/shape/colouring are you?

dexter73 · 22/10/2012 19:13

Not a good idea if you are trying to get away from the 'M&S mumsy look' as it is exactly that!

Coconutter · 22/10/2012 19:14

I like it Smile Maybe with sparkly earrings (but no necklace).

Grockle · 22/10/2012 19:14

Nope.

Faxthatpam · 22/10/2012 19:15

Very nice. Go for it, bet it's really flattering with the optical illusion panels.

wonderstuff · 22/10/2012 19:16

Don't like it. Agree that for the money could find nicer.

drewdrops · 22/10/2012 19:17

i like it but needs a slim figure i guess- its feminine with the shirt sleeves

PerryCombover · 22/10/2012 19:20

No way
Definite no

koala25 · 22/10/2012 19:20

hmmm, I don't really like the pattern, but it will be flattering if you're not tall

merlottits · 22/10/2012 19:22

Very mumsy I'm afraid. I don't like it, agree much better out there for the money. Can't imagine it looking good on anyone I know.

Teeb · 22/10/2012 19:24

I'd rather go for something like this in the black which is a similar shape but a bit more sexy than mumsy. Put the money your saving into a decent set of spanx/control pants and then you could buy two dresses for the money.

littlebird3 · 22/10/2012 19:26

Don't like it at all sorry.very mumsy =[

wonderstuff · 22/10/2012 19:27

Prefer this

littlebird3 · 22/10/2012 19:28

teeb like the one you recommend much more.

wonderstuff · 22/10/2012 19:28

Love the ASOS one - would depend on the size of your boobs though

DamonSalvatoreIsMyLoveSlave · 22/10/2012 19:32

If you want to steer clear of mumsy then Asos is your friend!

candyflossisevil · 22/10/2012 19:33

Its nice but looks quite officey. Love the one wonderstuff linked.

shockers · 22/10/2012 19:47

I like it.

FamiliesShareGerms · 22/10/2012 19:51

No, sorry, not the best dress for the money I've seen

What do you particularly like about it? (So we can help find something else)

This one is less mumsy by a long way, cheaper and looks flattering from here - worth a go! And not too crazy if you're used to a more M&S style

Sparklegeek · 22/10/2012 20:39

I have that Asos dress in red, bought it for my 40th & got a lot of compliments Smile But it does need some extra help underneath!
