Yep, another who hates merino here. Cotton, silk, merino or Cashmere only here.

MarshaBrady · 25/01/2013 21:27

Hates mohair? Bugger

libertychick · 25/01/2013 21:27

It's more that it just seems to get everywhere and I detest having 'fluff' on my clothes and then it makes me sneeze and I imagine I'm itchy Grin

Actually my nose is itching as I type this, sorry I shouldn't be putting you off before you even try it!

MarshaBrady · 25/01/2013 21:28

Haha. Oh god I'm going to hate it aren't I.

I love angora.

But haven't even pondered the ramifications of mohair. Drat

libertychick · 25/01/2013 21:33

Oh mentioning angora making me itch even more - you may well love the mohair Marsha. I'm strictly merino/cashmere/silk/cotton too - sometimes lambswool if it's very good stuff. Oh and bamboo hmmmmmm....

shopafrolic · 25/01/2013 21:33

Lovely bag Liberty I fear the Gracie will go back but we'll see.
Just checked my A&W mohair Marsha it's 56% mohair, 32% nylon and 12% wool. Feels fine, not super soft but not itchy, although I do wear with a vest underneath and washes and dries like a dream....

shopafrolic · 25/01/2013 21:35

And doesn't shed..

MarshaBrady · 25/01/2013 21:35

The acne angora is great sorry Liberty Grin

Thanks Shop.

Feel like I'm having a end of sales craze. There's got to be reduced knitwear I can buy.

libertychick · 25/01/2013 21:44

Have you looked at mytheresa Marsha? I like this marc jacobs pink and I think you like yellow?

DonaAna · 25/01/2013 21:54

I got and OD of mohair in the 80s and angora in the 90s. But merino can get dull (have worn pure merino almost non-stop since I left Brazil. You don't want to hear this but 24C meant mid-winter and merino there).

The Filippa K's don't shed. Nor do they pill. And the 1986 vibe makes me feel young Grin

Marsha most mohair yarns are spun around a thin polyester thread. If not, the yarn would just disintegrate. So some polyester is ok and you may just feel wool against your skin. Shop yours is probably a wool mohair mix spun the same way.

AmberNectarine · 25/01/2013 21:57

Mohair. Obviously.

MarshaBrady · 25/01/2013 22:06

Thank you Liberty love the yellow one!

Before I press buy, what do people think of the yellow Dries sweater?

Or L'Agence

or Marant.

I'm leaning towards the Dries. What do people think?

MarshaBrady · 25/01/2013 22:07

Or none of them?

shopafrolic · 25/01/2013 22:16

LOVE the Dries

OP posts:
Annianni · 25/01/2013 22:23

Love the Dries too.

DonaAna · 25/01/2013 22:26

I still love the yellow Marant (wish I could wear yellow).
Dries and the dayglo MJ pack a punch, both colud look really cool - least fave of the group is L'Agence. It would probably be very cozy and comfy, but too safe imo.

Annianni · 25/01/2013 22:30

Also love the MJ.

Buy both :o

MarshaBrady · 25/01/2013 22:39

Ah wish I could! Actually I'd love to buy the Marant and the Dries. But I probably don't need two yellow jumpers.

Have bought the Dries. Thank you Liberty and everyone Smile. Knitwear abounds.

libertychick · 26/01/2013 14:17

Oooh really pleased you liked the Dries Marsha - I went to bed early last night so missed the debate. Would love the MJ for myself but (a) I am spent out and (b) it's probably a bit too pink for me. I can't wear yellow but love it on others and as a colour to have around me - very cheering.

I am looking for a pattern for a jumper to knit - if I start it now it might get finished in time for next winter. The style of the MJ would be a fairly easy knit.

shopafrolic · 26/01/2013 14:20

Can I place an order for an imitation MJ now then Liberty?

OP posts:
libertychick · 26/01/2013 14:27

I am noted for taking an average 12-24 months to complete a knitting project! So provided you can wait 2 years Shop I am happy to oblige Smile

shopafrolic · 26/01/2013 14:32
Thanks

Liberty if you knit a jumper I will too!!!
I already have yarn, a pattern and knitting needles (bought in the autumn), but life has been kind of hectic. Confused

I loved to knit as a teenager, but knitting patterns tended to be frump-o-rama and life is too short.... (Much more variety in patterns nowadays, even quite stylish things, plus designers sometimes do knitting patterns too.)

I need a raglan shoulder (do not look like a linebacker) and something very simple and plain. Once the craziness of travel & work deadlines is over, I might actually get started.

libertychick · 26/01/2013 16:08

Ok Dona let's do it! All my knitting in recent years has been baby stuff. I have a jumper to finish off for DD (started 6 months ago so if I don't finish soon it won't even fit). I have been search raverly this afternoon for a pattern but nothing so far has appealed. I'll check out John Lewis sometime in the next few weeks as I prefer to flick through pattern books anyway and feel the yarn. There is a whole Vogue series of patterns but they tend to look complicated. Rowan does gorgeous stuff. Main thing I have to remember this time is to do something that uses at least a 5mm needle otherwise it just takes ages and gets very tedious. I'll remind you when I select a pattern and get the stuff and we can get cracking.

AmberNectarine · 26/01/2013 16:29

I'm game for knitting - I want to do a really chunky rib neon scarf.
