Great suggestions thanks Mignon!, yes I don't think I've found a pink I can do really. Maybe a pale pink but not a really strong one.

Dona have a great time! and thanks! Is it freezing?

(not sure why I wrote rathered Confused, will blame the champagne last night)

mignonette · 15/11/2012 11:50

And today I am wearing Navy and burgundy striped cotton cardigan of no particular brand (can't remember where it is from), JCrew pleated blouse top in faded grey and white very faint checks, a Charcoal grey JBrand cigarette leg jean, Jasper Conran for Debenhams high heeled boot (copy of the ACNE ones) and Marc Jacobs cotton jersey scarf.

Talking of Jasper Conran, he is currently visiting Debenhams stores where his luggage range is sold. A close family member manages said luggage department and was told by Conran's P.A that "Mr Conran likes to be addressed as Monsieur Conran" to which family member replied innocently with tongue firmly in cheek "Oh is Conran a French name then as i thought he was a proud Englishman?"

God the pretentiousness.......

mignonette · 15/11/2012 11:56

Marsha My yellows go well with a marine blue and white stripe silk scarf. Both warm and cold yellows seem to suit this shade.

Bonsoir · 15/11/2012 11:59

Envy at weekend in Tuscany! The last time I was in Tuscany was a long weekend in Florence for the 2011 Autumn half-term - it already feels like far too long ago!

Yellow is a great colour - one I mistakenly avoided in my youth and discovered about 4 or 5 years ago.

I went shopping in my road this morning - to Annick Goutal, where I bought Ninfeo Mio, which I had seen DonaAna raving about on another thread. Gorgeous. It is deceptive as the top notes are so lemony and fresh, but it deepens quickly to a much more wintry and grown-up scent. I then popped next door to Tara Jarmon and bought a large racoon fur silk-lined collar, for wearing over plain jersey and coats. Very cosy. I also bought four turquoise bird Christmas tree decorations in my favourite local florists. Even if I am happy with my general Christmas tree theme and look, I like to buy a few new things every year and make sure it looks fresh.

DonaAna · 15/11/2012 12:08

Bonsoir I love Tara Jarmon! And am happy you like Ninfeo - that and Eau du Sud are Italy in a bottle.

Our trip to Tuscany is quite prosaic - a car packed to the max and we called this morning to check whether the roads were still under water: along the motorway just outside Rome there was a huge lake.

We want to bring back a few cases of freshly pressed olive oil, wine and grappa - but how? Will have boxes in my lap...

MarshaBrady · 15/11/2012 12:53

Lovely, lovely shopping Bonsoir.

I saw a new Tara Jarmon shop in construction the other day. Must have been Regent St. Will check it out.

Marni tshirt is gorgeous, but so delicate. Completely see-through. Bit of a pain to wear something under tshirts to wear a tshirt. Tempted to keep it, but might be silly.

Does anyone have those types of tshirts? Delicate see-through ones, do you regret keeping them?

Also this merino petrol blue sweater. Now the colour is gorgeous. But I'm not great with elbow patches. But I think I will keep it as it is so soft, warm and helps with knitwear crisis.

Shop I can't recall did you get a petrol blue sweater?

MarshaBrady · 15/11/2012 12:54

And yes Tuscany sounds gorgeous Dona.

Bonsoir · 15/11/2012 13:03

Envy again, at freshly pressed olive oil. I have just returned from my local independent supermarket, which has a great Italian section where I buy decent olive oil, pasta, proper tuna, capers etc - and I am sure it is about to close! The shelves are practically empty. Thing is, it's in very bad spot - it's part of a mini-chain of independent supermarkets and gosh do we need better supermarkets, with higher quality food, in Paris - and there have never been many customers, unlike in the Victor Hugo branch which is always packed. And now there is a huge new shopping centre just outside the périphérique with a massive Leclerc and an M&S that are going to provide huge competition for all the local supermarkets. So one that was already doing badly just will not make it, I suspect.

Am a bit sad, too, that DP won't be returning from Milan tonight with his usual 4 kilos of fresh ravioli, tortellini etc. His day is apparently just too full to pop to the shops for me!

mignonette · 15/11/2012 16:22

Like that petrol blue Marsha; the yellow Marni would look great peeking out from underneath it.

I love the tissue thin T's and I tend to layer them as they aren't too bulky. They look good worn over another tissue thin racer back T in a contrasting or toning shade. They are very adaptable and wash and wear better than the thicker cotton.

This site here has just launched as the Interiors equivalent of NetAPorter/Outnet. I love it already. Join free now to gain extra discount.

I'm looking forward to restocking the pantry with Sardi goodies- Bottarga, Pane Carasau, Dolce Sardo because we have to pay a premium to get them from places like Vallebona or Valvona and Crolla. I also buy stocks of pasta shapes and brands that are a little more elusive in the UK such as Maloreddus.

I like to get a few new tree ornaments each year, Bonsoir especially if they have a link with somewhere special or a meaningful event. Have bought some lovely glass angels with pretty bellshaped glass skirts, a red Routemaster London bus, Red telephone box and a Black cab from Heals and a little local independent store.

Have just found this great site called vialuisaroma.com and saw these gorgeous boots here

so I have ordered a pair-

mignonette · 15/11/2012 19:08

That's luisa via roma. Sorry.

MarshaBrady · 16/11/2012 10:30

Great boots Mignonette.

And thanks for tshirt advice.

Hmm not sure on the Williamson, but probably as not really me. Great DvF.

shopafrolic · 16/11/2012 12:56

The camel coat from Maison Scotch is an absolute keeper. I am so thrilled. I went out for lunch with DH and DS yesterday wearing skinny jeans, my LKB Florettes and my cream silk blouse, all that was missing was that coat. And then it arrived this morning! It is beautiful, very classic and I don't think it will date. I fit the 12 rather than the 14 which is always lovely and it is long enough in the sleeve for me (which is usually a problem). Thank you all for your input.
We are having dinner at a friends house in the village this evening (their daughter is babysitting for us) which will be lovely as we never usually get to go out too much as a couple. We have elderly parents on my side, and distant parents on DH side so babysitting is limited.
Good weekends all x

Bonsoir · 16/11/2012 14:22

Well done on the coat, shopafrolic!

mignonette · 16/11/2012 16:18

Have decided that the Matthew Williamson jacket is too reminiscent of Showaddywaddy!

I have always bought Camel coloured clothing, Shop - I have an ancient Jaeger camelhair A line skirt with inverted front pleat that I frequently wear and an old camel hair PeaCoat from goodness knows where. Camel will never date and it cannot be identified as a particular season either.

Am browsing my Pinterest boards as I write and have seen plenty of camel inspiration- it looks great with a plum sunray pleat skirt, with all shades of grey and pale blues and with a either a shirt or sweater in tobacco and a bottom half in cream.

I like it casual with dark denim (even though this pic is here of a camel sweater, it shows how good it looks with denim)

Imagine this raincoat here is actually your camel coat -

Marsha Today I am wearing my Ochre cardigan with a storm blue tissue thin T shirt from C+C California layered over a cream lace top so the lace peeks out underneath. Although I have been in and out of dry aired heated offices/patients homes and cold dry outside, I haven't felt bulked up. Dark grey Helmut Lang cigarette pants, my Jasper Conran for Debenhams pale camel coloured boots and a Goose print scarf from Oliver Bonas here complete the outfit.

I love my scarf; a smudgy blue grey next to the face seems to liven up a Winter-drained complexion as opposed to exacerbating it which conventional 'fashion wisdom' often suggests. It actually tones down any tendency to orange/yellow tones just like a blue-toned red lipstick does, good for anybody with fading Summer tans/fake tan on their face.

I need to find a way of storing all my scarves so they aren't out of sight out of mind. If I cannot easily see them, I tend to end up wearing the same old ones. My wardrobes are so full, putting them on scarf hangers is not a solution. I don't want them draped everywhere either-trying to streamline my bedroom and limit the visual 'stimulation'. Suggestions anybody?

We've arranged our shoes in one of the spare bedrooms in boxes/racks as DH is the Imelda Marcus of shoe-manhood! I have quite a few pairs but not the amount he has and he has kept all of his ballet/practice pumps from his dancing years. He won't ever throw those away and when you realise how many pairs dancers get through, can you imagine how many pairs he has? All pretty much identical except for an electric-blue pair (don't ask!).....

Have few plans this weekend other than an Austrian friend over for Lunch tomorrow. Think I will bury myself under all the weekend papers. We have to attend a StepD's graduation ceremony next week- not particularly wishing to drive up to Leeds for one day. Am feeling very antisocial and sorry for myself at the moment. I love Leeds though-an architecturally and historically stunning city as long as they stop doing those vile cheap 'architect' conversions of beautiful inner city warehouses and industrial buildings. They are so identikit.

Anybody know of interesting stores/places to go/eating places in Leeds? I drove to Haworth last time I was there to pay my respects to the Bronte sisters. Appalled by the way Haworth has been turned into a 'Bronte Theme Park', full of gift shops and relatively few shops actually seeming to sell items useful to residents- like food!

Wishing everybody here a decent weekend...

MarshaBrady · 19/11/2012 09:20

Haha could be!

Love camel too. I dont have any, but I really could. Great you love your coat Shop.

Kept the Marni and yes good call Mignonette. Also have been wearing petrol blue loads so glad I kept that.

Dona how was Tuscany?

Getting a new bathroom floor so had a builder here all weekend. 8am til 9pm, really hard at work!

Also ups guy just took 3 attempts with a package. Only one pair of Wolford tights thought it would be by post not courier.

MarshaBrady · 19/11/2012 09:25

I imagine he went threw loads of ballet shoes. I've kept all my tutus. Pink, blue, white. So pretty with feathers and beads. Lots of hand-sewing. Not sure if I kept any pointe shoes. Does he miss it?

Scarves- I don't have many at all. Only a few wool/ angora ones, which go on a coat stand so I can take them easily.

Love those pin shots very much. Divine.

MarshaBrady · 19/11/2012 10:28

Oh crap that's through isn't it. My brain has gone.

DonaAna · 19/11/2012 15:27

Oh poor Marsha, life with builders Confused
Just back from a really great long weekend.
Crisp nights, clear sunny balmy days.
No rain, but the entire area was recovering from severe flooding a week ago, and fields were still soft and muddy.
We experienced a miracle: Siena without tourists. (Lovely.)
Boar hunting season. Roaring log fires. Fragrant air.
Car boot full of olive oil (just back from frantoio!), wine and grappa.
Wore my camel Filippa K continuously, accessoried with wellies Wink

MarshaBrady · 19/11/2012 19:01

Lovely! Dona Smile

It wasn't too bad. I felt very bad for him that the job was 3 times as big as he originally thought and he was working all day while we were playing Monopoly in the living room! (Ds2 absolutely blitzed it with hotels on Mayfair and Park Lane and various others.)

mignonette · 21/11/2012 10:22

I always end up serving builders/.plumbers etc endless cups of tea with cake and bacon rolls because I feel so awkward about appearing to be doing nothing while they toil-stupid me.

Today I am wearing my Adidas Y3 cowl fronted ochre yellow skirt, dark grey angora/mohair self stripe sweater, grey cable tights, Marant Otways that are pretty beaten up now and my new Goose scarf. I pinned a link to the skirt a while back as I find it such an interesting shape. The Y3 designs have that Japanese feel with folding and pleating of newer technical fabrics, coated or interwoven with odd fibres. From a side view, the skirt has this 'Geisha' shape with the drape slanting back towards the knee.

We are driving to Leeds friday for another (and hopefully the last) interminable graduation ceremony of one of the 5 blended family kids. Goodness knows what to wear. I'd like to take a little cross body bag but know I'll want to take at least 2 books, a newspaper and magazine to have ample reading material to chose from. It is a family joke that I always have at least one book on me everywhere. I do not feel dressed without a book! Wearing a cross body or shoulder bag and carrying a satchel/Alexa by the straps would look too much, right?

So.....What to wear to a cold place-draughty cathedral/civic Victorian hall? I don't want to look too chi chi and I always end up in default Helmut Lang pants/sweater/blazer combo.

mignonette · 21/11/2012 10:27

Oh, and have ordered these -

mignonette · 21/11/2012 10:31

And these-

Sorry, my darned phone keeps posting message prematurely.

MarshaBrady · 21/11/2012 17:14

Something snuggly by the sounds of it. Big warm, soft and wooly. Cashmere? Roll neck type thing, Helmut Lang pants sound great.

Love those Gap boots and cargo pants too.

Dh is funny with builders and over offers drinks. On Saturday every time we spoke to each other the builder said hmmm? as he thought we were talking to him, to which dh would reply tea? water? drink? Poor thing said enough! I'm fine.
