Does a chimney breast painted a different colour count as a feature wall? If so then...yes.

I would LOVE a playroom. I want one. But I would still call it the spare room :)

I have a shelf with spices on it, but as it also contains chippy vinegar and knorr packet mixes.

Yer know we live I. A new build.

It's hard to see what to put in this house, stuff from next directory yes seems to fit n work.

This really irritates the life out of me that's it's true. Me thinks I've been lazy but when I look at other stuff it seems as I'd it would only look right in a big town house or rustic cottage.

No spice rack or nursery but I have a feature wall in the living room and dining room, considering one in ds's room too.

Chubfuddler · 13/10/2012 22:06

I still require clarification of the problem. Is it the name playroom that is unacceptable or the existence of such a room at all?

Downfall · 13/10/2012 22:10

I was still chortling at needing a playroom coz only books and board games are allowed in the living room.

But a steiner room? Eh?

ujjayi · 13/10/2012 22:12

As the thread has moved on to consider rooms outside of the OPs original statement, can I add that we also have a study (DH's) and a studio (mine....je suis artiste Wink )

We have a playroom, but only because if I say "the DC are in the playroom" then the person with whom I am speaking will imagine an infinitely more pleasant domestic scenario than would be conjured up by the alternative: "the DC are in the cellar" Smile

whistlestopcafe · 13/10/2012 22:18

I will have a playroom soon.

Off to read the thread and see if it's still a good idea...

GrimmaTheNome · 13/10/2012 22:20

Its ok to have a spice rack if you're over 50.

We do have a 'playroom' but that's only because the honest name would be 'DDs tip'. 'lego room' doesn't quite fit because while the flooring is often mainly lego, there is usually a top layer of schoolwork.

I surely get points back for not knowing what exactly a 'feature wall' is.

DowagersHump · 13/10/2012 22:21

I have a playroom cum futility room.

Am I not in your gang?

Ohsiena · 13/10/2012 22:24

Ooh a studio is impressive!

I'd like a boudoir, where I could retire to when I felt period of ennui descending (which would be often).

It would have a bed, a sofa, a telly and lots of box sets of DVDs. Books shoves full of books, a gorgeous French antique dressing table where I would sit and play with different hairstyles and new eyeshadows. There would be a large desk with drawers full of lovely stationery where I'd write to do lists. No one would ever be allowed to enter, once I'd taken to my room there would a family understanding that mummy was resting and should be left alone until I voluntarily reappear reenergised. Of course it would also have its own bathroom, with a bath.
This would be additional to the matrimonial bedroom where I would still probably sleep, most of that time.

As it is, I have a play room and a spice rack. So I lose. (defense my spice rack is inside a cupboard and not ornamental).

Downfall · 13/10/2012 22:25

I'm 41 Grimma. Does that mean that in 9 years time I can get the spices out of the drawer and screw them to the wall? And if I don't I will be trying too hard?

SrirachaGhoul · 13/10/2012 22:26

We have all three and a mud room, den, 'butler's pantry'

DowagersHump · 13/10/2012 22:26

I abhor feature walls though

MrsBovary · 13/10/2012 22:28

We have one of those too, DoI. It's just known as "the playroom", but it's a Waldorf playroom. What do you have in yours?

GrimmaTheNome · 13/10/2012 22:30

Oh, I'd like a 'mud room' - I guess our utility room doubles as that.

Downfall - no; in 9 years time the upper age limit for legit spice rack ownership will be 59. . Ideally none of the spices should be the same ones purchased with the original rack in the 70s although some of the jars may be if they're for things you can get refills for (I've only just splashed out on a new oregano jar instead of the original yellowish topped schwartz Grin)

ujjayi · 13/10/2012 22:31

Ohsenia my studio is also my boudoir and has a sofa on which I recline, pondering George Clooney creative thoughts......

RambleOn · 13/10/2012 22:31

Fess up, who's got a media room? Grin

Ohsiena · 13/10/2012 22:32

Damn, I wish I was artistic.
