What can lardy ladies who aspire to stylishness wear this spring?

Shirt dresses a nono with a post CS tum I think.

Am size 14- 16, small waist, big butt, aforementioned tummy issue. 5'6'. Look alarming in jeans.

Used to have a nice line in funky day-to-evening wear for work but none of it suitable for looking after a toddler in. Sold it all on ebay so have some £ to spend.

What should i get?

ooh, nipped out for twenty minutes and missed all the fun.

i am looking for daywear for spring. i'm finding the adjustment to playgroup appropriate clothes a bit of a struggle. i think i look very strange in anything too casual.

legs are ok-ish, quite long for height (perhaps nearer 5'7), wouldn't care to show my knees as am 36.

FF my mum is the same, is lovely but cannot stop herself saying "ooh i was so slim when i was your age" or " i don't know where you got those bosoms from". however she is also v complimentary about my dress sense though perhaps she is overcompensating.

Mazzystar · 23/03/2006 12:51

For the "larger lady" (of which I am one !) Evans offer a free styling session with their in-store stylist in larger stores (no pun intended). Will chat and then put together outfits (incl accessories) for you. Their clothes used to be pretty horrid (all polyester) but last 2 seasons have been pretty fab - Def worth a go - and styles you won't see skinnies in Grin.

Also, Monsoon now go up to Size 22 in some styles (hoorah !) - at last retailers are starting to realise that size 20+ women don't want to dress in tents from Oswald Bailey !

does any one have any links for good long tunic-y tops? I'm tall but lardy (5'11") and need long tops to hide boobs, tummy and hips. Not much to ask is it?!

Mazzystar · 23/03/2006 14:01
