Shirt dresses a nono with a post CS tum I think.

Am size 14- 16, small waist, big butt, aforementioned tummy issue. 5'6'. Look alarming in jeans.

Used to have a nice line in funky day-to-evening wear for work but none of it suitable for looking after a toddler in. Sold it all on ebay so have some £ to spend.

What should i get?

wish i knew - im the same, but short so look even tubbier!

NomDePlume · 23/03/2006 11:13

I would say a tailored shirt dress would look ace, v sexy on your hourglass fugure, just get some magic stomach-holding-in pants. They work miracles.

Mazzystar · 23/03/2006 11:22

i will have a look on the specialist shirtdress thread...but am a bit skeptical....any other suggestions?

alexsmum · 23/03/2006 11:23

cod · 23/03/2006 11:26

also empire line tops good for fatter tummies

BUT accessories must be birght and funky

alexsmum · 23/03/2006 11:27

if it was so easy to just lose the weight , there wouldn't be any overweight people.
and in the meantime we just wear sack cloth and ashes as a punishment for being fat?
or saty at home in our dressing gowns?

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 23/03/2006 11:27

you can be enough to drive anyone to an eating disorder sometimes!!!

i know i need to lose a bot of weight, but at the moment im happy with what i am and will lose it when i am ready to.

such a harmless question too....

cod · 23/03/2006 11:27

\link{http://order.next.co.uk/page.asp?b=G30&p=84&o=1\dont liekt he colur but the green trsouer umage top right?}

cod · 23/03/2006 11:27

hmm or black leggeings? the y seem to be de riguer

alexsmum · 23/03/2006 11:28

but don't do empire line tops if you have more than a b cup . otherwise it looks ridiculous.

semi fitted stuff is good as loose stuff makes you look bigger.

cod · 23/03/2006 11:29

dont knwo abotu skirts
isnt the rule no bias cut?

oliveoil · 23/03/2006 11:30

no to black leggings, especially those that chop off half way down your calf, hidious

norty cod

If you are planning on losing weight, I would get some basic cheapos in, and then spend your real £££££ when you are the size you want to be.

That's what I did, I was about a 14, now a 12 (10 in some liar shops).

Mazzystar · 23/03/2006 11:33

LOL

losing some weight is all in the plan but i'd like to look reasonable in the interim. tbh tummy not that bad, just compared to former self. butt has always been proportionately whopping

raucous belly laughter at thought of me black leggings

trousers look quite nice - good colour, but i am allergic to next.

LadyTophamHatt · 23/03/2006 11:35

All bias cut stuff should be banned....looks rank on any figure IMO

bubblerock · 23/03/2006 11:37

Shock cod!! - Sometimes it's not about losing weight though is it? I'm 8.5 stone and not fat but my stomach has been affected by having two children so I can't get away with wearing certain styles. We get enough pressure from assholes to be skinny without stupid comments on a place for mums!

Rant over - definately get some magic knickers to help, I still like the wrap around dresses, bigger ladies seem to wear them and look great especially with good accessories. I think as long as the underwear is good you will feel ok - stand up straight too. Smile
