I know I am an all too rare visitor to S&B but I was irrestibly drawn to the phrase 'acne pistol boots'.

After extensive Googling - yes I agree they are Mum boots.

My Mum in fact has some and she is 66!

VivaLeBeaver · 29/09/2012 21:14

They look like Pavers type boots.

ruby22 · 29/09/2012 21:18

Yes they are very similar, it is how and what you wear with them that appears to define the 'mum' status, despite the fact that we are mostly mums. Generally from my MN reading it would seem that worn with ankle flapping bootcut jeans from Next and a cagoule will proclaim them mum boots but if you wear them with skinny jeans or dresses or little shorts then you will be ok.

daimbardiva · 29/09/2012 21:19

Ha, thank you. I have been thinking that all these new season ankle boots are just exactly the same as the bog-standard styles Next, M&S and co have been peddling for years, seen worn with bootleg jeans/work trousers countrywide. Emperor's new clothes anyone??

BunnyLebowski · 29/09/2012 21:20

They're minging 90's throwbacks.

But yet, because Grazia have deemed them "on trend", they get another jaunt around the laughable fashion victim arena.

Iamgiulietta · 29/09/2012 21:20

They are horrible!

DukesOfTripHazard · 30/09/2012 11:13

No. You're wrong. They are a lovely shape.

DukesOfTripHazard · 30/09/2012 11:14

Mum boots have horrid square toes and flarey heels. Or just aren't angled as nicely as those.

DukesOfTripHazard · 30/09/2012 11:15

The Divvel is in the details.

DonaAna · 30/09/2012 11:15

All the hip, gorgeous young girls in Rome seem to wear them at the moment.

StellaAndFries · 30/09/2012 11:17

Just googled them and they are very mum boots!

AnOldieButNotSoGoody · 30/09/2012 11:19

Mum boots are in.

DukesOfTripHazard · 30/09/2012 11:23

Well mark my words, anyone getting genuine mum boots out of the cupboard thinking they're rocking a look are not going to be.

And please, If they have stitching down the middle of the front in particular, just no.

tethersend · 30/09/2012 11:23

I have been saying mumboots are in since 2010. You all laughed.

Trills · 30/09/2012 11:23

Is nobody going to link them?

MarshaBrady · 30/09/2012 11:24

They are different to mum boots.

I need something easy to wear that I'm not that fussed about. And half price pistols may be it. Going to try them on, not entirely sure yet they are the right shape for me. Had them before but a size too big am determined to see if the size makes a difference.

MrsSnow · 30/09/2012 11:26

the boots

I have to confess I had a pair of these in 1998!

rockinastocking · 30/09/2012 11:26

here

Trills · 30/09/2012 11:26

This is a mum boot.

This is also a mum boot

Someone once called them "office boots", to be worn under slightly-too-sort polyester trousers.

rockinastocking · 30/09/2012 11:27

Xpost.

I see what you mean by mum-boots, but they are a better shape.

MmeLindor · 30/09/2012 11:33

Totally Mum Boots.

DonaAna · 30/09/2012 12:55

Tether I saw a pair of genuine mum boots in Sept Vogue. Am holding on to mine Grin

Lambzig · 30/09/2012 13:00
