God forgive me but I'm about to order from BODEN... what's the sizing like? i imagine very pear-shaped.

bbump! don't hate me. it's a nice jumper.

ceeveebee · 12/09/2012 22:58

I find it pretty generous - I am a 10/12 and the 10 is fine in tops and bottoms

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 12/09/2012 23:02

good to know, thanks.

Reviews are generally accurate regarding sizing of particular items. Generally generous.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 12/09/2012 23:57

cheers! will report back.

I find it generous bar the waist in trousers - which I think are made for pears. I'm not an apple, more an hourglass but with a wobbly tummy a size bigger than the rest of me. So I'm a 12 but would buy Boden 14 in trousers and skirts. Tops I find true to size.

MrsCampbellBlack · 13/09/2012 19:31

I'm an apple too. I'd say size down at least one size.

Which jumper?

Boden knitwear is pretty good ime

vesela · 13/09/2012 19:33

It's nearly always very pear-shaped. Boden dresses, tunics and longer jumpers don't fit me - there's too much material flapping about the hips - and trousers have too much extra around the hips as well (but can't size down or they'd be too tight everywhere else).

IceBergJam · 13/09/2012 20:32

I ordered loads last week . All going back . I found them very weird shapes . To much baggy materiel .

theoriginalandbestrookie · 13/09/2012 20:43

What size are you normally - I'm between a 12-14 and I find for Boden tops I am generally a 12 but yes a lot of the stuff is oddly cut and very long in the torso

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 13/09/2012 21:07

it's the stripey sweatshirt... i have a couple from Gap already and wear them a lot, but they're getting gubbed. great fabric for a Breton, though, hides a multitude of sins...

OP posts:
MrsCampbellBlack · 13/09/2012 21:09

H&M have a lovely breton - boxy shape, exposed zip, thick material and about £15 if the boden one is no good

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 13/09/2012 21:09

BY THE WAY. last week those jumpers were forty quid, now they're down to thirty. plus yesterday i got sent a 'you literally never buy anything from us' voucher for free delv and a fiver off... so was blardy glad i hadn't got them last week.

OP posts:
AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 13/09/2012 21:09

oh, cheers re H&M, that is a good tip.

I bought a size 20 wrap dress. It's howge on the boobs, I have to put a safety pin in to keep it non-flashable.
I'm generally a 18-20 but IMO this is way big.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 13/09/2012 22:10

tbh i don't mind if stuff is a bit big, i have a nice lady who takes stuff in for me for a fiver a throw. i'm quite broad-shouldered so it's better for me to fit things to them and then get them taken in.

A good tailor is your best friend if you want to be well-dressed - are you quite petite Aitch?

And where have you been - hardly seen you on here for ages . . .

FrameyMcFrame · 13/09/2012 22:20

What are you buying, link please?

I like those tops too, might consider it with a discount...

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 13/09/2012 22:32

i would have been livid if i'd got it last week, that's for sure.

OP posts:
Callmecordelia · 14/09/2012 09:40

Just make sure that you order with a free returns code, they're pretty quick at processing them. Personally I think the sizing on the current collection is very, very strange...

lljkk · 14/09/2012 09:43

Very long in the torso? . I am so fed up with too short tops, everything is too short on me just because I am not fat. Off to browse Boden catalog first time in eons.

vesela · 14/09/2012 10:56

I haven't found Boden things long in the torso - in fact the opposite.

H&M are long, though.

Callmecordelia · 15/09/2012 10:20

I think they are a bit longer than most. It does depend on which one you get.

The Breton tops are longer than the standard tops.
