Thanks to you lovely ladies my sister is on her way to getting her dress to get wed in and now I'm back for help for me!

I need a magic dress/outfit which will do for dsis's reception and for a presentation I have to make in a couple of weeks.

Presentation is in a fairly "hip" non profit organisation and wedding reception is relaxed "trendy" affair. So I suppose I need something not boden mum but not Katy Perry.

I'm 40, 5 2" absolutely no norks with a little bit of a stomach but about size 8/10 depending on the shop.

Blessings on all of your goats if you can find the magic non existent clothing I need.

Yes, I know you said not Boden Mum, but I like these dresses.

No one at the non for profit organisation will really care what you are wearing but I'm guessing there will be photos taken at the wedding, which your Dsis will look back on, so I would dress for that.

Really love the Sophia dress Lynette. If only I could justify spending £80 on a dress right now.

budhasbelly · 07/09/2012 18:18

No photo's thank the Lord, and lovely though the dress may be it's more formal than I'm looking for.

The NPO is full of frighteningly young chic hipsters and I'd like to feel not a mum on a day out iykwim?

Thanks anywaySmile

What colours do you like, what is your budget, have you seen anything you like as an example?

MrsLettuce · 07/09/2012 18:24

this anything like?

TapselteerieO · 07/09/2012 18:27

Reiss

How old are you and what's your budget?

LynetteScavo · 07/09/2012 18:29

Sorry, I see you are 40.

budhasbelly · 07/09/2012 18:30

Colours I like are usually grey/black and green but open to pretty much anything other than yellow and pink.

Budget is flexible would probably stretch to 150 for a dress as long as I could get some wear out of it again but separates would probably be better as I'm rarely a dress woman. Also have a cupboard of dresses bought for weddings over the years which are from Coast or the like and have just mouldered and been a waste of money.

Please don't ask for my taste as I lost what little I had of that when I had to stop living in diesel jeans and topshop fare.

MrsLettuce like the shape just not sure about the pale lace vibe?

Tape the blue Reiss is nice but a bit too girly I think, would feel like I'm impersonating an innocent 20 something.

Lynette sorry that Reiss one is def too much dress for me.

Thanks everyone, I have faith in your powers!

Ok I've tried to link to an image of Louise Redknapp wearing a navy v neck sleeveless thingamabob which I think looks good.
Computer saying know but if you care to google her it's one of the first images that comes up. This is my feeble attempt to show the kinda thing I'm aiming for.

BonnyDay · 07/09/2012 19:06

FauxFox · 07/09/2012 19:11

lol at 'prison suit' I think I love you bonny Grin

budhasbelly · 07/09/2012 19:15

That's the one MrsLettuce, apologies if it's hideous but I like that look and there's another pic of her in it without the vest which makes it look dressier which appeals.

Bonny I warned you it was an imaginary outfit I was aiming for! I'm an awkward sod.
