Oi over here hags

OP posts:
TheReturnOfStropperella · 21/09/2012 19:13

BTM, probably not the advice you want to hear, but I think I would probably whip him off to A&E if at all feasible and get them to dress it all. If the grazing is that extensive it could probably definitely do with covering with sterile dressings.

bigTillyMint · 21/09/2012 19:23

I did mention that possibility to DS, but he was flatly against it - remembering the time he went after injuring his arm at footy... TBH, the grazing looks a bit better since the bath and savlon - the pharmacist told DH that we shouldn't cover it as it needs to scab over, but I made DH get some gauze, etc so we can at least cover some of it for bed-time. I don't think I can face A&E either on a Friday night

He is already saying he's not missing footy tomorrow!

TheReturnOfStropperella · 21/09/2012 19:29

Ah well, he sounds very resilient :) As long as he can get comfortable in bed he'll probably be fine. He might feel a bit more bruised and stiff in the morning though!

bigTillyMint · 21/09/2012 19:38

Yes, I envisage some difficulty in getting him comfy in bed. And he is already saying his shoulder feels sore (not just the skin!) What a trooper though - I would have been a complete wuss. As would DD!

CointreauVersial · 22/09/2012 00:08

Ouch, your DS does sound like a trooper, BTM. Mine on the other hand is incapacitated by the tiniest injury, and would be lying on the sofa moaning softly and demanding cold drinks in a similar situation. Hope he heals up OK.

I have a Y7 and a Y8, so the GCSE EBacc shenanigans will all be very interesting....

More car-hunting to look forward to this weekend. There's such a thing as too much choice; it's all getting a bit stressful.

beachyhead · 22/09/2012 07:57

Poor Little BTM...bet he's feeling sore this morning. Have you got arnica tablets in the house? I'd give him those a couple of times a day to help with the inevitable bruising.

Yet another Year 7 here too, although a lot can change before these new exams are supposed to be introduced. The worry I have is that it will just go back to the days where exam results are secondary and the most important thing is who you know and not what you know.

I feel sorry for employers in the years to come as they certainly won't remember which were the dodgy GCSE years, so comparison of candidates a few years apart will be virtually impossible. Are there any plans to mess with change the A levels?

Frankly I'm more worried about Ruby's teenager as I have a Year 11 as well Blush Pretty sure she's not active, but looks increasingly like she would like to be.....

Are those who are going next Saturday, still up for a pre-meet up meet up? Would 5pm ish suit and where would anyone like? Still droozling over Mrs S and MI at Wahaca's, one of my favourites...., so would anyone like to go there?

CointreauVersial · 22/09/2012 10:26

I'm up for it, Beachy, but is Wahaca's anywhere near the venue (not that I can even remember where we're going)?

Saturday night will be crowning an exceptionally busy week for me - I currently have socials planned for Wednesday night (mate's birthday), Friday morning (Macmillan coffee morning, but I can see it developing beyond hot beverages), Friday night (work - someone else paying - yay!) and then Saturday. I may have to be stretchered home.....

Shock and Grin at sexually active 15yo. I too snoop regularly at DS's Facebook, but it is full of tedious stuff about football.

motherinferior · 22/09/2012 10:27

Ooh, I can't next Sat, have a gang of former colleagues and partners (including my lovely friends who lost their little girl) round to eat curry and drink beer and possibly watch a trashy movie.

Deep sympathies to all of you with child related woes (and oohdear Ruby, ahem Blush).

Must put some words on the page...

CointreauVersial · 22/09/2012 10:34

S&B-wise, I bought a couple of pairs of boots yesterday, with a view to keeping one pair and returning the other. I was after something flat, casual and non-black, to replace my brown chelsea boots.

These and these.

They are both comfy, but I am disheartened after reading the Reviews for the second pair - only two people reviewing were under the age of 55, and one of those was buying them for her 86 year-old mother.Blush Tis true, they do have a granny-boot air about them, but it's how you style them, isn't it?

bigTillyMint · 22/09/2012 10:48

OOoooh yes, arnica - will call into the health place on my way to meet mate for a coffee in a min! He's gone off to footy training (all sore and bandaged up), against my wishes....

Yes, yes, yes to pre-meet up! Happy to Wahaca - isn't there a temporary one on the South Bank? If not, we are off out with friends to a place in London Bridge tonight will see if it's any good as it would be very near! CV am well in awe of your busy week, I am barely managing to keep up - hope I can last till past 10 next Sat!

CV the first pair look a bit like my Clarks ones which I love so much I bought a second pair in black! The second ones look cosyGrin

The first pair are fine, CV. Not entirely sure about the "cosy" ones, but an 86 year old probably wouldn't be wearing them with skinny jeans, so will probably be fine.

A friend of mine who has had chemo and lost all her hair informs me that she has bought a wig. A neon pink one. Grin I think that is definitely making the best of a bad situation.

bigTillyMint · 22/09/2012 13:51

DS is looking a bit folorn on the sofa right now - think footy might have been a step too far, or maybe the TCP bath did it! Anyway, have dosed him up with arnica tablets - will do the every two hours!

MrsS, the neon pink wig does indeed sound like making the most of a bad situationSmile

Ruby, the watch sounds like the perfect excuseWink Where will you all be coming into? I know CV will be a London Bridger!

motherinferior · 22/09/2012 14:02

I have purchased a Disappointing Nude Lipstick (fortunately on Points so at least have not wasted money). It is...unexciting, a bit like Nude Pants. I shall revert to red (lippie, that is, not pants).

We are going out to see DD1 acting as a Suffragette in a school performance this afternoon. I have suggested we culminate by going to throw a brick through the window of 10 downing street in proper Suffragette fashion.

TheReturnOfStropperella · 22/09/2012 14:23

I dunno MI, I think there's something to be said for red pants Grin. Will be looking out for you on the news later on today after your dd's brick-throwing finale.

MrsSchadenfreude · 22/09/2012 17:30

Or you could chain her to the railings, MI.

I have just had to pay 7 euros for a small box of jumbonormous tampons from the Pharmacy because the local supermarket doesn't stock anything larger than regular. French women clearly do not bleed.

I need to pack for Switzerland. I have just spent several hours working, doing stuff I didn't manage to do yesterday. Sad And it was fairly crappy. But I did send AB an email telling him he was unnecessarily winding up a member of my team, and my team member had been no ruder to AB than AB had been to him initially. This was in response to a whining email from AB about my team member, saying that I should "do something" about his attitude. I cc'd in Head Honcho (as he had done), who will no doubt roll his eyes.

beachyhead · 22/09/2012 17:48

Is it actually called Disappointing Nude? Grin

I'm coming into Victoria or London Bridge. The venue is close to London Bridge and Tower Bridge. There is a Wahaca on the Southbank further along near Queen Elizabeth Hall, but I think that's beyond walking. I'll need to dump my bag in the MN invaded Travelodge (not sure they'll know what's hit them!)

There is a Pizza Express in Shad Thames by Tower Bridge which is predictable, but reasonable.....

DameSaggarmakersbottomknocker · 22/09/2012 17:55

Just catching up Smile You lot can really talk!

Poor ds BTM, sounds very sore. Made may legs go a bit twitchy thinking about it.

Brick throwing sounds just dandy MI. they need something to shake 'em up. I'd go with red knickers and red lippy.

CV please let me know how to do comfort and style. I'm just not cutting the mustard at the moment. dd has given up on me and just rolls her eyes now.

Talking of dd she's officially a Fresher today. And ds2 is off back to uni on Monday. Thankfully dd is staying local so no empty nest just yet.

bigTillyMint · 22/09/2012 17:58

So between London and Tower Bridge would be best? Please not Pizza Express - let's go somewhere better than that! There are a few nice bars/resto's along Shad Thames, (including All Bar One IIRC) and Browns which does all sorts of cocktails and champagne. And food for the hungry!

bigTillyMint · 22/09/2012 18:01

FresherSmile Those were definitely the daysSmile

CointreauVersial · 22/09/2012 19:15

Ruby - I tried those exact boots on yesterday - they were very comfortable, nice versatile colour, and looked great considering they aren't leather. They made it to my shortlist, but I decided they were a bit "chunky" for what I was after. They came up quite big, though.

I've now rejected the granny bootees, and wore the others today to pound around yet more car showrooms. I think we've bought a new car....GrinGrin

I'll let you London folk identify a suitable drinking establishment for Friday - just tell me when and where! We won't need food, though, there was lashings at the last meet-up IIRC.

Blackduck · 23/09/2012 09:52

Hi all, lack of Internet and naff phone signal positively peeing me off now...
BTM hope Ds is better.
Ds supposed to be doing bikeability this week, rushed round, bought bike etc but it would appear they dive straight in at level 2 so that isn't going to happen - I predict tears.
MrsS AB sounds like such a tosser! After my slating I now have a meeting on Tuesday where one of my team has dropped me right in (she protects herself and is not a team player) I am Angry but guess I'll take it on the chin.
Hope meetup goes well.

Hi ruby, it's all a bit confused - original letters from county council implied it was 1&2 combined. However, some of the mothers said it is 2 only (they did 1 before -apparently - one poor lad didn't even get that so his mum isn't sure what will happen to him).
