Your ultimate boots?

There is a distinct chill in the air, back to school butterflies, starting to feel wistful about bare legs.

It's time for layers, snugly scarves, cosy knits.....and boots!

Even if you wear yours early season with bare legs and the remains of your tan, or save them for tights; if you prefer them under your boot cut jeans or you like tucking your skinnies in.....what would be your dream boot style?

Biker? Flat? Buckles and studs? Cuban heel? Cowboy? Suede? Lace-up? Black, chestnut or grey? Maybe red or purple?

I would love to hear about your ultimate boot! You may have already found them....or...maybe never been able to find your perfect pair?

Bother, I like those boots too. I shall add them to my lust list along with the other pair that MarshaBrady linked elsewhere which are so perfect (and so eyewateringly expensive) that I don't even dare add a link. I think I'm going to sit out the ankle boot trend and just save up for a really good pair of knee high boots instead - v. dark brown or black, good quality leather, no extra buckles, flaps etc. I'll be on maternity leave so I can leave replacing my work shoes until next winter; it's very annoying three pairs of black shoes/boots all wore out (as in holes and everything) at the end of last winter and there is only so much that shoe polish can do.

MarshaBrady · 04/09/2012 12:20

Ah yes Cardi. The Hermès ones..

I'm going to check them out in rl I think. To see just what they are like. (and see if they make me feel dizzy!)

cloutiedumpling · 04/09/2012 12:49

Can I have long, elegant legs to fit into my dream boots? I love the sound of burgundy leather boots, but it is hard to find nice boots for chunky calves.

MadameOvary · 04/09/2012 12:59

I bloody love my ones - black, minimal biker detailing, lovely soft leather, perfect fit on my hefty calves, easy zip.
They are Next Shock
I found them on eBay after spotting someone in the street and enquiring about them I was on the bus and phoned the shop they went into.

I have a bit of trouble finding knee length boots which don't gap at the top, so I was pleased to find these last year.

Although my ultimate are Belstaff trialmaster's which I picked in the sales earlier this year. Just beautiful, can't wait to wear them

CointreauVersial · 05/09/2012 00:20

I'm feeling the love for ankle boots at the moment. I already have two pairs with heels but need a flat/everyday pair.

I know a gazillion MNers have linked to them, but I quite like these Clarks Norley Woods. Especially with the 20% off voucher I was given today.

Sleepwhenidie · 05/09/2012 08:26

If I could only have one pair of boots it would definitely be my biker boots as they seem to go with everything, are comfy and practical. However...I am lusting after these and trying to stop because I just ordered Ash Bowie's and these too feel just too indulgent. They would look so sexy for evenings with skinny jeans though - sigh.

LesleyPumpshaft · 05/09/2012 08:35

I'd like a good quality, classic riding style boot, pull-on, in a chestnut brown, no embellishments and with a 2 inch wooden block heel.

That's about it really, but it must be the kind that you can take to the cobblers to be re-soled etc, none of that glued on rubber sole crap.

MrsDelaBilliere · 05/09/2012 08:44

I have my heart set on these for my birthday next month.

Marsha, I tried them on last winter. It involved lots of psyching myself up, checking my outfits and talking Dh to come with me for moral support. I was half hoping that the fit would be so bad that I could just dismiss them as looking nice but not being for me. Alas no, they did look great. I just don't usually shop in that league, with good reason.

MarshaBrady · 05/09/2012 10:31

Blimey I'd be the same. Feel lightheaded thinking about it. Grin

Will have a little quiet look.

CointreauVersial · 05/09/2012 13:09

MarshaBrady - you are sooooo going to end up buying those boots.Grin

MarshaBrady · 05/09/2012 13:40

hehe no it will be fine, they won't suit my size 7 feet or something

Also have only seen an image so don't know how much they are. I'm saving that are you kidding me moment for the shop Grin

PerditaMcLeod · 05/09/2012 14:01

Am a huge fan of Duo boots and they come in loads of different width fittings for those who are chunky of calf, as I am!

www.duoboots.com/ladies-boots/

There are also some real bargains to be found on their outlet site.

MrsDelaBilliere · 05/09/2012 14:53

I have been a fan of duo since ooohh I think it must be 2004. The quality is very good, I think this year is the first time, I won't be buying from their boot collection. I find their designs this year a little bit off the mark.

ovariantryst · 05/09/2012 14:57

Oh ffs, who posted the pic of the Sam Edelman ones?

www.my-wardrobe.com/sam-edelman/kendrix-buckle-high-ankle-boot-941664

I started a whole thread the other day about how much i hate ankle boots, only for you to prove me wrong. Actually, I'm starting to think it's not so much ankle boots per se as it is the ones with the big wadge of elastic at the side that bring on my phobias (boak). Must womble off to the other thread to discuss this hypothesis...

MrsDelaBilliere · 05/09/2012 15:05

Those Sam Edelmans are lush.

hoppityhoppity · 05/09/2012 17:17

Cointreau I like those Clark's ones, hadn't really thought about ankle boots, would you tuck jeans into them? Or wear shorter trousers (not so great in colder weather)
I love the idea of boots but I never quite get the look right. I really want to find some great every day boots

CointreauVersial · 05/09/2012 23:45

Skinny jeans tuck nicely into ankle boots, but that wouldn't work with a wider leg.

I know you can work the ankle boot look with cropped trousers, but I never quite got the hang of that one.

Sleepwhenidie · 07/09/2012 10:53

I caved...ordered the Sam Edelmans..maybe they won't look as good in RL Hmm? Now madly ebaying stuff to cover some of cost Blush

MadameOvary · 07/09/2012 11:32

I bought these which are gorgeous. If I hadn't I probably would've gone for the Sam Edelman's too. They are lovely.

Sleepwhenidie · 07/09/2012 15:54

Ooh, nice, Madame! not sure I'd be able to walk in them though (and I'm sure the "comfy, for long days on your feet" in respect of the SE's is laughable too aGrin).
