After several unsuccessful and hysterical shopping trips, I said I'd ask here. He has trouser trouble.
He is rugby-player shaped, v v stocky, and has such massive spuds that everything he wears has to be pleated or they're obscene! And then the pleats make him look fatter than he is, so he ends up just looking very lumpy.
What trousers/jeans should he try? He's got really big legs and a bug bum which need to be accommodated.
Can you advise? And then he can get himself a nice woman, and live happily ever after! 36, v tall, good looking, great with kids, all serious offers considered

Normally, I direct style and beauty questions to the Wise and Avid ladies. But perhaps not this time (though Mrs C-B has read LOTS of Jilly Cooper).

Watching with interest.

On the other hand,

SPANX!!

tethersend · 02/09/2012 21:53

Side-stepping the Luke Skywalker/Princess Leia undertones, has he considered some trousers like these?

KingEdwardsbigsister · 02/09/2012 21:55

Apparently he has supportive grunderpants and I too suggested some sort of Spanx thang, but apparently nad-minimising undies are beset with problems. I think he's only looked at the cross-dressing willy-hiding gear though. Surely there are trousers cut for the well endowed gentleman?

Tethersend, you have it in a coconut shell. That's how he looks all the time. But Celtic.

What's his budget? He might have to look at having trousers made...

MrsCampbellBlack · 02/09/2012 21:57

All the rugby playing larger blokes I've known bought a lot in Hackett - god knows what they're trousers are like but could be worth a try.

Best thing he could do really is go to somewhere like Selfridges and go to the personal shopping dept - thats what my male hairdresser does.

raindroprhyme · 02/09/2012 21:58

my husband who is of a similar build Blush recommends gap easy fit jeans. or get him to a tailor.

MrsCampbellBlack · 02/09/2012 21:59

And KingEdward - this is so beyond the realm of being a good big sister - he should owe you big time for even having to discuss this with him Smile

AKissIsNotAContract · 02/09/2012 22:01

Can't he just embrace his big balls and get some skinny jeans?

ToothGah · 02/09/2012 22:01

Just read this out to my DP and he suggests a clear panel in all of his trousers so he can show off his magnificent crown jewels!!! Grin

KingEdwardsbigsister · 02/09/2012 22:03

Not a huge budget but if he knew what he was shopping for it'd be a great start. Will tell him Hackett and Gap.
Which underkecks?
And yes, I am a marvellous sister. Best one he's got!

MrsCampbellBlack · 02/09/2012 22:04

Supportive jersey trunks surely would be best for supportive'ness. Hackett also good for those.

KingEdwardsbigsister · 02/09/2012 22:05

Re showing it all off, that's not a conversation we've ever had as he sort of hinted that he's all veg and no meat. I'd rather not dwell on this, obviously.

could you not operate?

SundaeGirl · 02/09/2012 22:10

Where does he live? (Just roughly. I don't want to go round there, like.)

I can recommend an in expensive tailor in Edinburgh.

toastandmarmiterocks · 02/09/2012 22:11

Paahhhhhh!! Just spat my drink out!!! Ha ha ha, brilliant! all veg and no meat!!

Sorry, nothing of any use to add...

MrsCampbellBlack · 02/09/2012 22:11

Grin at Sundaegirl

toastandmarmiterocks · 02/09/2012 22:13

I didn't mean that nastily, not laughing at his tackle arrangement just live the turn of phrase. More wine? Hic! Wine

DonaAna · 02/09/2012 22:13

Let's hope the leggings+codpiece look makes a comeback. About time Wink

brighthair · 02/09/2012 22:13

And he's single you say?

toastandmarmiterocks · 02/09/2012 22:14

love even

KingEdwardsbigsister · 02/09/2012 22:26

He is indeed single! Great cook, good company, bit shy. The love of a good woman (other than his mum and sister) would sort him out! Just outside London!

OP posts:
brighthair · 02/09/2012 22:29

Damn why are they all down South?!

savoycabbage · 02/09/2012 22:30

From pleated trousers to matchmaking! Grin
