Do you tuck?

I see that to tuck in your shirt is the done thing these days and if you are a fashionista you do the semi tuck. Do you think that a super flat tummy is essential or could I get away with it with a mini muffin?

I'd link but I find they don't ever work when I'm on my iPad.

This has just blown my mind MrsCB - any idea what vest Wendy uses? I'd seen that posting but had assumed it was tucked into her trousers.

I have one of those spanx hold everything in vests which might work ...

MrsCampbellBlack · 02/09/2012 21:41

She says its just a nude vest top - she shows it in one of her youtube vids but I couldn't find it.

Hugo - you don't have to wear the exact colours obviously Smile

I personally find it more flattering than tucking in at the waist and doing all the bagging over stuff.

NotMostPeople · 02/09/2012 21:42

Aaah I see, lovely shoes she's wearing too.

I think my primarni cami's as discussed a few days ago would do the job nicely, will have a try in the morning.

Right about halfway through this Wendy demos it

Willowme · 02/09/2012 22:03

Just to confuse things a bit more, how about the 'half tuck'? It's where you tuck one side of the shirt leaving the other half completely out. It's what all the fashionistas are at it these days, I sported it myself the other day but I'm not sure about it, looks like it's more of an accident than done on purpose.

like this

MrsCampbellBlack · 02/09/2012 22:06

I like a semi-tuck and do it myself. Its flattering I think.

I spend too much time thinking about tucking.

Nagoo · 02/09/2012 22:07

i do a tuck and pull, so it's in but then folded over so you can't see the top of the jean.

I have no idea why I do that. Is that what everyone else is doing, they just aren't talking about it? I'm now paranoid about tucking. Everyone knows how to tuck and I'm a tucking chancer.

MrsCampbellBlack · 02/09/2012 22:08

Nagoo - that works well if your jeans are low rise but if they're slightly ahem a bit of a higher rise it doesn't work so well.

GreenEyesAndHam · 02/09/2012 22:13

I'm a tentative tucker. Sometimes I just can't seem to get the tuck right, and I get all flustered and sweaty in front of the mirror and end up just giving up and untucking.

But if I get it right, I think it instantly takes the outfit up a notch

MrsCampbellBlack · 02/09/2012 22:16

Greeneyes - watch Wendy. She's tucking great.

scripsi · 02/09/2012 22:19

just tried the vest method and it works - very flattering!

SPsFanjoSponsoredByFemFresh · 02/09/2012 22:21

I only tuck if wearing my high waisted shorts. Then I put a belt over so no muffin top and it makes me look slim but curvy.

I am a walking lie

GreenEyesAndHam · 02/09/2012 22:25

MrsCB I've just watched Wendy.

With the sound off, which makes her seem like a little over excited pixie Grin

'Two thumbs up' for the top tucking tips, I'm going to try the vest thing out tomorrow

Startailoforangeandgold · 02/09/2012 22:31

And since DH doesn't do jeans it's very likely to be yesterdays formal work trousers and smart belt he tucks a rugby shirt in.

He's not as thin as he once was and 'tis very comical

scripsi · 03/09/2012 01:02

SPsFanjo I like deceptive dressing ... what do you do with your belt ...? I need to know this technique.

NurseBernard · 03/09/2012 09:33

Wow, as an aside, Wendy is a stunna.

SPsFanjoSponsoredByFemFresh · 03/09/2012 09:44

I wear it at my waist at the top of the waist band of the shorts. It hides any lumps and I look curvy and slim.

It looks like I have a flat stomach when I really don't Grin

AgeingFop · 03/09/2012 09:46

I tuck in shirts - always. Trying to avoid the 90s "Ben Sherman untucked over a beer gut" that men sported back then. And, Yes, I do the tuck-and-pull. Never tuck t-shirts or similar. Just seems wrong.

The rules I think are different for women: DW tends to tuck when she's wearing high waisted shorts or jeans, not other times, regardless of the type of top.

pocketandsweet · 03/09/2012 10:07

My favourite topic for sometime! Thanks for the semi-tuck tutorials but I need Wendy with no sound... Have spent last six weeks in North America and her vocal mannerisms do my head in ( she is adorable looking though)

MrsCampbellBlack · 03/09/2012 10:15

Wendy is gorgeous and has a very inspiring backstory.

QueenCadbury · 03/09/2012 10:32

I love s&b. We get obsessed over the stupidest things Grin. Will definately try Wendy's tuck.

gladyoucame · 03/09/2012 11:21

That vest tuck is a great idea! My shirts/blouses are never long enough to tuck at the waist.

WinstonWolf · 03/09/2012 11:32

I'm also far too amazed by the vest tuck Blush

My tuck vs. high waisted jeans problem is solved

HappyJustToBe · 03/09/2012 11:44

I agree Wendy is beautiful. I almost don't dare to watch the videos in case my budding love for her is affected as happened with David Beckham.

HeartsJandJ · 03/09/2012 14:04

Does tucking work with any old shirt or do you need to invest in something new and fashiony?

I have a wardrobe full of work shirts circa 2002 but I would be concerned an old shirt combined with a tuck might look foolish.
