For anyone who likes to talk about style, nice stuff that they've bought and so on.

Hopefully your blog is great! Nicely written and such great advice!

MarshaBrady · 08/10/2012 10:14

Well done Hopefully! It looks great and good info.

Bonsoir you can do it! Love the sound of jbrands and wedge ankle boots.

I'm not in an office atm, but I know if I do I'd just like smart ish stuff from labels I love from same sites and probably wouldn't diverge much into other brands. Maybe it's lucky I'm not then - too costly.

I'd love some wintry skinny cords.

Hopefully · 08/10/2012 11:09

I just cannot get my head around skinny cords. Think I need to find some outfit inspiration for them. Maybe will hunt on pinterest.

Blush thank you for nice blog comments. It is early days, but I am hoping it will be fun.

I am glad I am not in an office and set my own dress code when I have clients. It means I can do business with a twist instead of boring business. It makes me happy Grin

Bonsoir · 08/10/2012 12:38

I'm wearing my midnight blue skinny cords (with flat black suede Tod's ankle boots) today and they are really warm and cosy! Have my last year's Marni khaki puffer cape on with them.

Had dim sum for lunch with DD and DP (we went to pick her up from school) which brightened an otherwise very dull day. Came home to sparkling clean windows (lots of windows and inner glass doors in this apartment) but I have no inspiration for anything...

DonaAna · 08/10/2012 12:58

Bonsoir I don't see a problem with shorts if you have good legs. Many women in my family still have great legs in their 70s.

Finished my wardrobe clearout earlier in the morning (I have quite a few pairs of unloved jeans - and no more viscose tops for me). Drawers are now sorted and I got rid of the wobbly pile next to my dresser. I thought I needed more underwear but once knickers, bras, tights, socks and pyjamas each got their own drawer, I realized I have lots of everything - just couldn't find them before Blush I have too much of everything. When current tees/sweaters/tights wear out, I won't need to replace them.

Wearing my clingy cream floral dress with beige jeweled ballerinas. Feeling a bit uninspired with work - bright sunshine outdoors.

MarshaBrady · 08/10/2012 13:00

Rain, rain, rain here.

It's making me consider the relative merits of jbrand velvet skinnies. Has anyone segued into that particular look?

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 08/10/2012 13:04

Lovely outfits too Dona and Bonsoir.

Am in V Bruno burgundy skinnies and Malene Birger blush angora jumper, with suede pistols.

The suede seems ok Hopefully have used copious amounts of protector.

Shop wanted to say again that I am ever grateful for the pistols! Am wearing them today. Is there anything you are looking for?, I can keep an eye out.

Glad suede is surviving Marsha. I am debating whether to buy suede Fiorentini & Baker ankle boots or leather leggings as next big purchase. Or whether to save up and buy both together. But live in fear of things selling out!

Am wearing khaki TS Baxters, grey suede slouchy Clarks books, old faithful Splendid vest with TS acrylic (ugh) forest green military sweater and chestnut scarf from Matches (sale bargain in jan). I love the shape of my TS sweater, but my god I hate acrylic. Looks tatty after 6 months and feels horrible.

There is a Joseph dress I love on NAP but I am slightly appalled at 20-odd% polyamide. Is it actually impossible to get stylish clothes in pure wool?

Hopefully · 08/10/2012 14:40

Joseph dress is this one. marsha I think you linked it a while back? Actually only 12% plastic, but even so...

MarshaBrady · 08/10/2012 14:52

Yy Hopefully thought about it for a party. But think it's not party-ish enough maybe even with great heels. Would you buy it for a party or for client stuff? It probably is more client-ish. I do love it though.

I'm ready to go on getting a dress, but can't find one .

Hard one on leggings v boots. I'd say go for boots first as more likely to sell out.

Bonsoir, I have sent you a PM about something non S&B.

No time to post on here any more, though I do lurk at times... Hope everyone is OK!

Hopefully · 08/10/2012 15:04

Marsha was thinking of it over leather leggings for v cold days and with thick opaques and ankle boots for family lunches etc. so not party party, iykwim. I like the neat crew neck and side seaming.

shopafrolic · 08/10/2012 18:09

Hi all, just briefly to say.....
www.atterleyroad.com/sale.html
Good discounts on Farhi and MiH.

shopafrolic · 08/10/2012 18:17

Marsha just saw your lovely comment re: Pistols - no problem at all. The only thing I am on the lookout for is non mumsy but still practical knitwear. I love the 2 knits I bought on my shopping trip (on my AW12 Pins) but I need a couple more. I really fancy something petrol blue but cannot find at the mo. needs to be toddler friendly (washable), £100 max.
Would also like one I can wear over this

Well you did ask Marsha!! Grin

MarshaBrady · 08/10/2012 18:59

haha! Good one Shop.

Will get on it... Grin

Ooh, Shop I am going to have a nosy through your pins today for inspiration Grin

shopafrolic · 09/10/2012 08:41

There are skinny cords on there Hopefully I have to say they've been fab since the weather got so cold!
DS had a lie in so I'm not dressed yet! Need to make an effort today as I had a serious lapse in the style stakes yesterday and no make up! Caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror - not a good look!

Hopefully · 09/10/2012 09:31

I am attempting to be semi-stylish today as meeting with a dressmaker who I want to make me a jacket. Fingers crossed she is good! Wearing teal j brand Marias (too big really, but have not yet slimmed back into my smaller teal 811s), uniqlo merino round neck sweater in a caramel colour, chestnut scarf, cream Zara trench (which I love, but cream was a bad colour choice), grey/brown Clarks slouchy boots and big orange AH zip cross body bag.

DonaAna · 09/10/2012 09:46

Fingers crossed Hopefully. I'm a bit distracted and not dressed well - green Zara jeans (am starting to realize that I'm not a colored jeans person) and a white tux shirt and blue wool socks and shoddy makeup. Not summery, not exactly autumn either: low light, low pressure and thunder clouds. The only thing I like about my outfit today is the Chanel 'Paradis' lipstick - perhaps the perfect color for me.

Hopefully · 09/10/2012 11:34

Dressmaker was awesome. Great designer credentials (although I couldn't decide whether to be pleased or not that she worked for Bruce Oldfield during the Diana years). She is working on a few things for me, including a waistcoat/pencil skirt 'suit' that I have had in my head for ages. Grin

Bonsoir · 09/10/2012 11:36

DonaAna - I am so with you on the coloured jeans. Not my thing at all! I have friends who look amazing in them - think bright pink Zara skinnies with DvF printed cardigan and great ballet flats. But that is just not me!

Hopefully · 09/10/2012 11:43

I can do dark or khaki skinnies, but I always feel a bit too Fun in my red ones, I have to say. Realised the other day that I only wear the very darkest and very lightest colours in my palette, on the whole.

Bonsoir · 09/10/2012 11:44

Blue/black/khaki are neutrals in my book and great for skinnies. But yellow/red/pink/forest green just don't work for me.

MarshaBrady · 09/10/2012 12:02

Summer was a better time for brighter skinnies. I had yellow c/e skinnies which were good but way too bright for now. And it's passed a bit now. I'm going back to dark. It is a bit too fun for AW.

Liked my outfit today; navy/white thin striped rykiel top, indigo skinnies, Stella m green coat, suede pistols and acne citrus scarf. Love a new combo.

Slowly revamping wardrobe, more sweaters required.

Great news Hopefully re dressmaker.

Hello Everyone :)

Life is ridiculously full on at the moment so have little time to post but I have been lurking and watching all recent purchases/lust lists with interest.

DonaAna well done on the closet clearing. You may remember that I did the same thing a month or so ago. It has reinvigorated my wardrobe and given me a stronger sense of my personal style - am having a ball making all these new outfits from existing items which got hidden amongst the "meh" stuff that was so abundant. Gone has my spontaneous shopping habit too which is actually a huge relief and has reduced my stress levels significantly.

Bonsoir don't give up on the shorts/opaques yet. I have just ventured into this look at 41 and I love it.

Hopefully - I mix and match the opaques/shorts colour combination dependent on mood. I also think that short length is more critical than colour combinations in shortening/lengthening the legs. I don't have the world's greatest legs but have found that even deep magenta shorts paired with black opaques can elongate my legs because they sit mid-thigh or just a fraction above. Any longer would look just plain wrong and create stumpy pins and any shorter......I would be straying into mutton territory!

Pop - I agree that the "corporate" view of style hasn't seemingly changed for decades. I am not office based, but I despair at friends' working wardrobes when they are otherwise charmingly stylish and individual in their "free" time.

Marsha what kind of knits are you after? I am desperately seeking an oversized black jumper. It must be wool or at least wool rich. I want it to sit on the hips/mid bottom and have a boat neck or a low v. It's to pair with skinny cords (plum) and skinny jeans (variety of colours including...old gold!).

Dashing off to have a quick flick through Vogue before continuing with fashion illustration project I am working on.

Happy Tuesday all :)
