For anyone who likes to talk about style, nice stuff that they've bought and so on.

Have packed. Can you believe it, four pairs of shoes, an extra handbag (python pochette), a tote bag, lots of makeup and hair products, and six or seven different outfits in a small carry-on bag!

On the plane: navy Marni coat, black Marni patent belt, black H&M tank top, MMM leather pencil skirt, black heels, pearls, 2.55

Outfits:
#1 all black, night: black Cavalli bolero, black sleeveless Calvin Klein silk top, MMM leather pencil skirt, black heels, cocktail ring
#2 denim blue and black, day: APC denim blouse, Marni patent belt, MMM leather pencil skirt, black jeweled Stylesnob ballerinas, pearls
#3 coral and cream, day: bright coral Maxmara jacket/ coral cotton cardigan, matching scoop neck tee, white tank/black tank/coral scoop neck tee, beige Dolce & Gabbana wide-leg poplin trousers, pearls, cream jeweled Stylesnob ballerinas
#4 coral and navy, casual: coral cotton cardigan, matching scoop neck tee, dark indigo MiH jeans, ballerinas, cream Marni bracelet
#5 green and navy, casual: green Goat sweater worn over tank top, dark indigo MiH jeans, sky blue fake ostrich ballerinas
#6 all navy, casual: sky blue/ navy scarf, navy sweater, dark indigo MiH jeans/ black leggings, sky blue fake ostrich ballerinas

Plus pyjamas, Havaianas, underwear, umbrella.
I think I've finally learned to pack Shock

Will have to check it in though - the sole reason being that I want to take hairspray with me (not looking forward to hunting it down in pharmacies).

Hopefully · 19/09/2012 06:26

Dona impressive packing list - I like that you've still managed colour, I hate capsule wardrobe packing that is entirely neutral.

Have a big Celtic Sheepskin order arriving (theoretically) today. Am hoping it will tick some items off my A/W list, including a slouchy jumper dress. Will link good things when it comes.

Need to find time to peruse Yoox for some basics too - am still shockingly lacking on that front!

ujjayi · 19/09/2012 09:39

Apologies have been lurking with no real time to post over the last few days as getting back into study. Have even been working through my tomato breaks.

I was thinking this morning how lovely it is to live different styles vicariously through this thread and how inspirational that can be. For example, Dona & Bonsoir have styles which are, on the face of it, far removed from my own and yet I think I can take elements and make it work with my own look. Love it.

Had a look at the Outnet "How to" links that Dona posted yesterday. I really wanted to say to the skirt lady "WTAF??" Hilarious! I love the mix & match look and also the colour blocking. The colour blocking guide was good because I get too fixated on finding "perfect match" and yet I can now see that tonal totally works.

Celtic Sheepskin cable knit arrived yesterday but have so far been uninspired to try on so don't think it is going to be a keeper.

Spent the entire afternoon yesterday loading stuff onto eBay. Such a slow system. Hopefully will generate some cash though to justify the lovely Vivienne Westwood pencil & drape skirt I just bought via eBay. DH was very impressed with my philosophy of "better to trade in a dozen things I never wear for one thing I will want to wear every day". I returned a knit to TK Maxx yesterday too and even though I tried on half a dozen other items I left them because I realised that either they weren't entirely right or the bargain factor was enticing me. I can't tell you what a breakthrough this is for a compulsive shopper. I walked out feeling liberated and stupidly proud of myself.

Today's outfit (another new combo from my revitalised wardrobe):

Knee length full skirt with Red & pink rose print & moss background (1950s vintage)
Moss v-neck merino jumper (Gap)
ASOS Aggie boots in tan

FritziGreenEyes · 19/09/2012 09:46

ujjayi Love the sound of your outfit today. Won't bore you with the details of mine as I volunteered to take care of the school garden after lunch today. At least it's sunny and I can wear sunglasses to glam it up. Wink

dona Before I pack, I put together outfits the way you listed yours in my head. Makes packing amazingly easy. Have a good trip!

Hopefully · 19/09/2012 10:07

I've sure the fabrics aren't terribly high quality, but lots of nice fashiony bits in the new River Island collection - maybe some good ways to get some A/W trends without £££

ujjayi · 19/09/2012 10:08

Just had quick look at Hoss Intropia as saw a few pieces in a magazine recently which I liked. What's the verdict on this?

FritziGreenEyes · 19/09/2012 10:21

hopefully OMG that tartan/dogtooth skater skirt is, errm, interesting.

ujjayi I used to have some things from Hoss Intropia. Do they still have a store on Regent St.?

FritziGreenEyes · 19/09/2012 10:23

Forgot to say: I really like the dress, especially the detailing on the front and colour is great too.

ujjayi · 19/09/2012 10:31

Hopefully & Fritzi - that tartan/dogtooth skirt has given me a migraine simply by glancing at it!

I think HI does still have Regent Street store. And it was the colour and detailing that appealed to me with that - plus it is a huge reduction. Could be worn as is or layered for a more daytime look too I think.

notyummy · 19/09/2012 10:56

I like the dress Ujjayi - although usefully it says Spanish sizing and the size chart doesn't have Spanish sizing!! So I have no idea what a 36 or 38 actually equate to. Could be a bargain though!

Hopefully · 19/09/2012 14:08

Humph. Celtic Sheepskin order arrived and almost the whole lot is going back. Had such high hopes for it all Sad. Quality is lovely, but the shapes are just wrong for me. this dress is way too big around the waist, this one has crazy 60s bell sleeves and this sweater just makes me look bulky instead of being sleek and longline. Also this nightie (or 'sleep tee') is going back - too clingy and short. the slippers are keepers though! In purple Grin.

So, the lounge/WAH wear hunt continues.

DonaAna · 19/09/2012 16:59

A quick hello from my hotel room in Portugal (waiting from a friend to arrive supposed to work, procrastinating ). Am staring the azulejos facade of the house across the very narrow street, a girl stands smoking on one of those very narrow French balconies and looks very chic in what definitely must be her take on loungewear.... Had to leave my azulejos print skirt at home because it would have wrinkled terribly (it would have looked gorgeous styled with my Marni flower bracelet, Mulberry Lily, and nude peeptoe heels) - otherwise would definitely try to match myself with the houses on the street... Grin

Hopefully I know exactly what your issue is with Celtic Sheepskin - lovely quality but sizing enormous and clothes are on the shapeless side. I have a few of their basic boat neck skirts, their sleeves do flare out a bit too much but I can live with them (mostly wear them as a base layer) - but most of the rest is on the garbage-baggy side of slouchy Grin

Ujj love the Hoss Intropia dress. They have a very chic store on Piazza di Spagna and I often rifle through their sales racks hoping they would sometimes do something for non-olive skin tones.

Oh and for any Summers reading this, picked up a Coco Rouge in 'Paradis' at the duty free and it is the perfect bright (but not too bright) pink. Toured some shops at the airport - luxury brands are not very creative atm: Bulgari is doing Missoni zigzags and pleated leather a la Prada; D&G is doing Chanel bags [roll] If they keep doing this, I'd rather support the immigrant selling pirate bags on the sidewalk...

Outfit: navy Havaianas, Mih Oslos, white vest top. Wish I had brought my chambray shirt... Grin

shopafrolic · 19/09/2012 17:50

uh oh! I just placed a CS order today! Fingers crossed!

mignonette · 19/09/2012 18:18

Just beautiful and I want the Lam yellow tartan dress the most.

mignonette · 19/09/2012 18:21

Sorry, meant Sass & Bide, not Rag & Bone....

Hopefully · 19/09/2012 18:40

dona yes, sizing is mahoosive. I ordered Smalls, and I am a good size 10 with broad shoulders, and they were all massive.

Hopefully · 19/09/2012 18:41

Shop I hope you have more joy!

Can't decide whether to place a Hush order now or hang on for a code. How often do they do codes? Haven't seen one since 15% new season launch one. Really need some loungey basics.

Hopefully · 19/09/2012 19:17

I would like these leather leggings at about 50% of the price please. thank you fashion gods.

AmberNectarine · 19/09/2012 19:46

Ordered these bad boys today, good work shoes.

Have also tracked down the t-shirt of my dreams here which Marsha pinned for me. DH off to Paris next week. I am dispatching him to nearest Maje!

MarshaBrady · 19/09/2012 20:07

Woohoo Amber good work on the Maje and timing! Love the shoes. Makes me wish I had an office to wear such things.

Hopefully at least you have identified the right ones! Yes your order looks too big for you even from here, well the style does iyswim.

Dona have a great time in Portugal. Smile

Ujj yes love it, what a good discount too. I agree with what you say about style and how nice/helpful it is.

Nice links Mignon

Am beat. I completed some work today and can relax! Get AW shoes I really need. And an outfit to wear for thingo. I realise I can't do any of the usual bright colour stuff. More muted than that. Going to start the hunt in actual shops this week.

Morning!
Interesting about CS, as I'd been idly eyeing things up, but need clothes to be defined, not baggy and shapeless, so will avoid.

Hope Portugal is fun, Dona.

Fritzi, have you seen the S&B thread about Germany? You need to defend your country's style credentials! Wink

Issimma if you're a 12 in standard clothes, a 12 in Hush would probably be perfect for post-natal, as their sizing is so insanely wide generous.

Off to work. Black trousers, Gap deep red sleeveless cowl neck top with white polka dots, light grey Zara blazer, khaki wedge espadrilles (may be the last week for these, my feet were a bit chilly on the way to school this morning: 7°), silver bracelet & necklace. Navy blue scarf while the cool morning air persists. This is as smart as it gets in my workplace, and I'm one of the smarter ones!

Have seen a pair of oxblood trousers in a shop in town, look as if they may be coated. Not skinny, nice straight cut.
39? - seems churlish not to at least try them on.

I need some flat shoes for work, but don't suit ballet style pumps as they make my feet look like cow's hooves for some reason.
Any ideas?
