For anyone who likes to talk about style, nice stuff that they've bought and so on.

Hello. Enjoying the thread still although haven't been posting much. Yes yes to the links from all places and just enjoying whatever makes you feel good. I love certain high street places with a dash here and there of pricier items that I know I will cherish for years. Typical me is Topshop skinnies (because I am tiny and they fit just as well as J brands and hey EA rates them too), a Whistles top and a Mulberry or AH bag. And I admire stylish women wearing top to toe H&M just as much as those wearing Marant or whatever.

Wanted to tell you dona that I have made my first thrift shop purchase, a 'silver' sparkly four leaf clover necklace. For 50p! So sweet.

Outfit today a loose white cotton embroidered dress, leopard sandals, cobalt blue Gracie and shrunken denim jacket. Gorgeous summer day (but feels like that's it now, roll on autumn!).

I am firmly on the leather leggings bandwagon and have ordered these from Zara to try. Trying not to get hopes up though. When I do find the right pair (soon I hope!) I plan to wear them with ankle boots, loose knits, chambray, maybe my new Zara pink boots?

Lovely to see you back amber.

Right, style challenge: have hen do this weekend - theme is 80s, don't want to look like a total dick in a neon tutu. What to wear?

DonaAna · 10/09/2012 07:35

Sorry wrong thread
Blue love the necklace and you and also should feel smug that TS fits you. I may have to try on the Zara leather leggings (have been looking for them twice instore but they didn't have any).

shopafrolic · 10/09/2012 07:53

Selected Femme had leather leggings on their site too but only black (and v cheap!)
Hen do - Madonna? Oversized jacket, bustier, pearls, lace gloves?

FritziGreenEyes · 10/09/2012 08:20

amber Welcome back! We missed you.

The very last day of proper late summer heat here today. Wearing White Company light grey linen dress (belted) and light suede Castaner wedges.

notyummy · 10/09/2012 08:56

I am def not a leather leggings person due to my body shape (my legs and bottom half need nothing that could possibly emphasise them making an appearance Grin) I can happily admire them on others though and am still on the mythical quest (think Arthurian legend...) for coated skinnies that are more matt than shiney, just like my beloved Gap ones. Between that and purple/green silk blouses, I seem to have set myself a big challenge!

Just dug out an old Jigsawpale blue tulip skirt from wardobe to wear tomorrow to work with Mango navy blazer and heels. Just need to shop the wardrobe for a top and I will be all sorted. Thinking a pop of colour (I have a TS coral short sleeved top) might be just the thing.

pickledsiblings · 10/09/2012 09:12

Hellooooo Amber, how's the tan? Nevermind the hen do, what are you wearing tomorrow? That's is when you go back to work, isn't it? Will you be working 'with' DH?

NY, I used to have a gorgeous silk blouse, in the 80s Grin. Good luck with your quest, I'll keep an eye out.

Dona, meant to say, one of my all time favourite blouses is from Vila.

pickledsiblings · 10/09/2012 09:13

gorgeous green silk blouse

ujjayi · 10/09/2012 09:47

Morning all. Just a quick stop over as desperate to have a productive work day today......

Hi Amber - glad you had a great holiday and enjoy showing the tan tomorrow at your first day back.

Dona - books arrived from Amazon this morning. Have flicked through One Hundred and impressed with what I have seen so far. YAWYW needs careful analysis so will settle down with that one this evening.

You lot are a bad influence. I am now seriously considering leather leggings. I have also decided that I need a pencil skirt but I don't want a plain colour because they make me feel too corporate (even the deliciously sexy Vivienne Westwood Philosophy skirt - although the pinstripe could work for me.....) Christian Lacroix for Desigual has fun patchwork version which I love and is on my potential buys list.

And finally, like Fritzi it seems today is to be the last day of summer :( so making the most of it with Matthew Williamson for H&M parrot dress <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=matthew+williamson+for+h%26m+parrot+dress+helena+christensen&um=1&hl=en&sa=X&biw=1428&bih=849&tbm=isch&tbnid=_5D3z5t5bEn-bM:&imgrefurl=www.instyle.co.uk/fashion/look-of-the-day/wednesday-29-april-2009/helena-christensen-lotd-290409&docid=QnMy-Krwcx2oZM&itg=1&imgurl=www.instyle.co.uk/sites/default/files/imagecache/portrait_large_300x500/helenaLOTD290409.jpg&w=300&h=500&ei=zKhNULLhEeKR0AXG3IDIDQ&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=751&vpy=112&dur=1476&hovh=290&hovw=174&tx=111&ty=171&sig=106889118181324983211&page=1&tbnh=155&tbnw=92&start=0&ndsp=31&ved=1t:429,r:3,s:0,i:79" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here - although it is slightly longer on me, not being blessed with Helena's legs and Top Shop bronze leather flat sandals.

pickled I had a big try on this morning while the baby was asleep and I am torn between an LKB navy leopard print wrap dress with navy patent R&B courts or a black military style shirt tucked into a black pencil skirt with my pink CLs (which have been almost restored to their former glory) or keep it classic in white shirt and black slim leg trousers. Not sure, need boob access in case the baby wants feeding the second I collect her, or I'd opt for a shift... Decisions.

DonaAna · 10/09/2012 10:12

Ujjayi, am also desperate to have a productive work day. (But have to share this vintage Pucci eBay find first). Enjoy the books as a treat after a full day of work? Grin
Shop I think I have tried on the Selected leather leggings - sadly not my shape, the price was tempting.
Pickled, Vila really does some basics well, with a bit of trendiness but not one season wonders. I left my cropped navy Vila trench up North, miss it already.

Channeling end of summer like Fritzi and Ujjayi - wearing a floaty cotton dress, black ballerinas and demure mid-rose lipstick. Like NY, I've identified a few key investment pieces I need for AW (tall boots, a long-sleeved dress or two, some accessories), but mostly happy with what I already have.

DonaAna · 10/09/2012 10:14

Amber all options sound lovely. I'd make a statement and wear either the leopard print or the pink Loubs. They may be expecting a frumpy mummy, disappoint them... Grin

pickledsiblings · 10/09/2012 10:21

Yes Amber, I was thinking the leopard.

Hopefully · 10/09/2012 10:28

Loving the sound of today's outfits on everyone! I am boringly dressed in khaki TS Baxters, bright orangey red Splendid racer back vest with off-shite Splendid racer back over the top. Hair is scruffy after failing to dry it properly yesterday, but quite liking the scruffy look having worked a bit of wax through it. Definitely better with a quick blow dry though.

Amber I would go for the black with pink loubs - would worry that leopard on first day back might scream "it's OK! I'm not frumpy!", which is fab for day 3 or 4, but maybe not day 1. The pink shoes will make a cool statement against black without screaming anything alarming.

Want my books to arrive - am avoiding doing any kind of major wardrobe sorting until they do, for no particularly good reason.

ujjayi · 10/09/2012 10:34

Eeek! Dona - have just completed my first tomato!! Now have 2 mins left of a 5 minute break. Love this technique :)

MarshaBrady · 10/09/2012 10:44

Morning.

Amber black with pink for me too.

Have the military green current/elliot leather skinnies been linked yet Hopefully?

Dona love the Pucci scarf.

Love the pretty dresses today. Not warm here. Yesterday felt like the last very warm day. Perhaps there will be more.

Just dropped ds1 to new school. Good uniform so that's a plus Wink. But big gulp that he is getting so grown up. And I don't usually say that, but it did feel like a big thing.

MarshaBrady · 10/09/2012 10:48

And went with a rather perfunctory outfit of MiH paris and Sandro watermelon t and red sweater.

Really undecided about loafers. I'm looking for something today. Ok now.

MarshaBrady · 10/09/2012 10:56

Or get the Marant dicker although a little late in the season, will be on sale soonish.

Bonsoir · 10/09/2012 12:20

Just popping in on you lot to share my very exciting news: a real live very famous supermodel mother has appeared at our school gates. Will try to take a better look at what she is wearing!

DonaAna · 10/09/2012 12:54

Marsha Steve Madden is one of the American makes DH is attached to - what he has from them has been solid quality high street. Oh and love the sound of Paris & watermelon, I adore that combination Grin

Bonsoir how exciting and nice to have a Paris correspondent! Please keep reporting!

Hopefully since when orangey red was boring? Grin

Frantic morning. Lots of logistics to solve - either DH or I are travelling for the rest of the month starting on Thu. Deadlines, pressure, but our Nanny is lovely and will do extra things (for example, work this Saturday) so I think we will survive.

Oh and read a bit of Dalai Lama's book on compassion: words of wisdom. Instantly saw certain things a bit more clearly. Actually took the time to apologize and make things right and some tension I've been feeling for about a week was released. Can really sense the positive reverberations everywhere.

Hopefully · 10/09/2012 13:38

Marsha I like the leopards. C/E skinnies lovely lovely colour, but I don't want pockets, want legging-leggins, iykwim.

Just had some dark chocolate after a weekend of precisely no sugar (due to no food in house rather than strict diet attempts). Bliss!

Dona your life sounds so jet setting Smile

Am having officially the dullest but most productive day ever - non stop packaging of orders. Makes me feel less bad about making no outfit effort this morning Grin.

Am contemplating trying some topshop matte wet look leggings (can't be bothered to link on slowest internet connection ever) to fill the leather-leggings gap until I find some.
