For anyone who likes to talk about style, nice stuff that they've bought and so on.

I have those Steve Maddens pinned. I like them v much!

Dress is midnight with black leopard print, so quite subtle. Might wear it with the pink Loubs...

DonaAna · 10/09/2012 17:05

Ordered a box of boring basics (black pencil skirts, black trousers) from the Outnet. Everything is going back unless they by some miracle fit perfectly. I don't like buying bottoms - do not have a nipped in waist, hence difficult to judge whether something that will fit my hips will also fit my waist. Have actually been putting of buying basic black bottoms for ages... As a compensation, flung in a few cashmere sweaters. If you like coral or camel cashmere, check out their Just In offerings today.

Am looking for the perfect black leather pencil skirt, don't want a hyper expensive one. If anyone has seen good budget alternatives, please let me know!

DD2 (2) is using the hot outblast from A/C as a hairdryer Confused

cheesesarnie · 10/09/2012 17:14

Bonsoir- how exciting!

I'll be needing smart casual office wear soonish. Not sure where to shop or what to buy without looking too smart or too casual. Grin

MarshaBrady · 10/09/2012 17:18

Thanks for Madden feedback and links. Am in shoe dire straits (holes) so will scout out something this week in the shops. Will check Lanvin, Madden and CdeC.

I feel like you Hopefully. Want something but not sure it's out there. Yes yours must be perfect.

Well done Dona on outnet basics I really need to do that and Bonsoir on school model!

MarshaBrady · 10/09/2012 17:19

Sounds good Amber.

Even more exciting - was walking home from the park this evening and there was a billboard with said school gate mother model in underwear Grin.

DonaAna · 10/09/2012 17:38

Think you will see lots of dads in PTA meetings this year Bonsoir.
Facing a slightly similar situation - famous people in a very small school, school gatherings are intimidating interesting.

Bonsoir · 10/09/2012 17:59

There are other celebrity parents at DD's school, but they are French celebrities. This is an international celebrity Grin. Agree - expect there will be many father volunteers for morning drop off!

AmberNectarine · 10/09/2012 19:22

marsha R&B have some nice leopard loafers - studded toe. Have my eye on them but obvs no website link, grrr.

Hopefully · 10/09/2012 19:28

Amber I cannot wait for the R&B website to load. Although there is actually one in town, I could probably walk there in the same amount of time it takes me to dither over an online order Grin.

Am so proud of myself - have done nothing but the boring sensible work I needed to do today, hardly any mucking around online or anything. Has taken me more or less 11 hours straight, of course, but at least it's done. May reward myself with topshop order.

MarshaBrady · 10/09/2012 20:29

Thanks Amber that is on my path too so will definitely check them out.

Big day tomorrow, you'll be great.

Am so tired ds2 kept coming into our bed. Need a proper sleep tonight.

Nice to see so many people posting and to read about your outfits. One day, I'll have time to click on all your links and read a style book.

Still hot here: 14° in the morning and 31° by lunchtime. Forecast to stay that way for another week at least.

Today I wore Petit Bateau khaki thin-strapped, flared-cut vest top over ancient (2003? 2004? pre-DC, anyway) Boden Shock Blush creamy-coloured wide-leg linen trousers, with khaki strappy wedge espadrilles, gunmetal grey oval pearl necklace and silver bracelet.

In my cubbyhole, I found the bargain shoes I'd had sent to my Mum's, which she forwarded to work, and they are surprisingly nice, dead comfortable and perfect with my inevitably non-skinny jeans (they'd look daft with skinnies, though). Quite pleased. Smug, even. Need the weather to cool down so I can wear them.

No supermodels at my school gate; random mix of nicely casual-but-chic-French-style and pyjama-and-croc-incidents. Think it's less stressful thus!

NY, if you find any good coated trousers, I'm interested. May even stray into skinny territory if they are worth it.

Right, about 45 tomatoes of work to do before I crash into bed...

AuldAlliance · 10/09/2012 20:55

Forgot to say, Amber, whatever you wear, I'm sure you'll look stunning and impress them.

trixymalixy · 10/09/2012 22:31

Just heading back home after an evening of oysters, chateaubriand , affogato and champagne, after an extremely dull day at work. I think my boss did actually fall asleep at one point!! I'm wearing a Calvin Klein grey and black shift dress and grey patent Carvela heels, that's about as designer and glam as my life gets!

DH not impressed as I was supposed to be driving my car back from the station, but he's going to have to go and get it now....

what do you think of the Zara update of those fab shoes they last year ? I'm thinking of buying them.

ujjayi · 11/09/2012 08:00

Marsha & Hopefully - I am the same when it comes to hunting down "the perfect (insert desired item here)". I seem to spend hours looking for the definitive - it is one of the reasons I decided to study fashion ie so I could design and create my own!

AuldAlliance - love the sound of your outfit. Very relaxed chic.

Bonsoir - tell me, is your school gate supermodel absolutely super in the flesh? I recently met a supermodel at an event with whom I was as disappointed as I was delighted. Disappointed that she didn't look more super whilst being equally delighted that tis indeed excellent photography & styling which maketh the woman.

Trixy - your evening sounds wonderfully decadent. Love the Zara shoes.

Dona - I am now addicted to the tomatoes site and can't believe how productive my day was yesterday - 10 tomatoes achieved! So am looking to equal that today.

Today's outfit is chambray shirt dress (Boden) and red Hasbeens. Am trying to decide whether or not to remove the collar on the shirt dress.

Bonsoir · 11/09/2012 08:42

ujjayi - yes, super in the flesh too! But there will be more discrete ogling in days and weeks to come!

Bonsoir · 11/09/2012 08:42

discreet

Issimma - I always say that my love of Mr Kiplings Manor House Cake is what ruined my catwalk career. Grin

Thankfully no supermodels at DDs school, although i can very rarely make pick up or drop off anyway. There is however a very glamorous Polish lady that all the fathers try desperately not to be caught staring at. 6 inch heeled boots and tiny, tiny skirts with jet black waist length hair extentions. She certainly has the figure to carry it off, and I have never seen her stumble in a series of challenging heels. Interestingly, I live in an area with a fairly large amount of Polish people, and a lot of the ladies are much more into high heels/figure hugging/short skirts etc than the average 20/30 something Brit. I am sure there must be a reason (not sure what the prevailing look in Poland is...?) They do sometimes attract the wrong sort of attention here, it's fair to say, and there have number of quite serious fights/assaults reported when their partners have taken exception to the attention they have attracted from British men. Power of fashion, eh?

MarshaBrady · 11/09/2012 10:40

Blimey NY sounds intense!

Ds1's first school (and now ds2's nursery) attracted a high percentage of good looking people. Everyone had great style too. It was visually very nice.

Bonsoir I have an inkling who it is and I AM impressed. She is one of the best ones and am excited for you Grin

Ujjayi how nice. A perfect white shirt, perfect ankle boot, coat would love to see all those!

Normal service has resumed. One at school, the other running around parks for hours and being treated to croissant and frothy milk for breakfast.

We do have a supermodel on our street now I think about it (couture, then more mainstream).

OP posts:
DonaAna · 11/09/2012 11:38

Bonsoir I have to guess: does she have in-house access (perhaps via bedroom door) to LV? That would be my favorite option...

By coincidence have just received an invite to one of the Vogue Fashion night parties titled 'Who's the ultimate supermodel?' I think it involves sketches of party attendees being drawn by a fashion illustrator - hence the answer could be 'Me' - except that I probably won't be able to go as DH is leaving that night

Sorry, need to go, busy harvesting tomatoes...

Bonsoir · 11/09/2012 11:45

Oui, DonaAna Smile

DonaAna · 11/09/2012 12:49

Oh I'm truly impressed Bonsoir! Am not keen on the pseudo Barbie supermodels, but she's what fashion should be all about...

Work is really difficult atm. DH strained his ankle so I have an extra person (an extra child?) at home.

AmberNectarine · 11/09/2012 13:16

Ooh, I know who you mean...
