for a wedding

I ordered the belt they recommended, not the blue one but the one in the photo, & it doesn't look right somehow. Should I order the blue one or order something else (cheaper!)

And jewellery & shoes? I think peep toe would look nice maybe?

As far as jewellery is concerned would this be too much? I really like it but not sure if it would go -again look at photo of dress on model she has chunky necklace..

dress

necklace

thank you

woooah scaredy I would break my neck in those especially after having a few glasses of champers - nice though

I think I'll try on some of my black shoes to see if the colour goes but I think I'd prefer blue or mint. It looks nice with some tan wedge sandals I have but they are a bit too casual

mrslettuce I am so tragically pleased you like it as much as I do Grin

for a 50's look, a string of pearls if you have one or a small silver or white gold pendant - pearl or diamond earrings ..not a necklace as big as that worn by the model!

i wouldn't wear a belt with it - much more comfortable without as i don't think there are belt loops to keep it in place.

skinny belt would work better IMo anyway. don't like the accessories they recommend/ dressed the model in.

shoes - peek toe lovely

i love the dress. gorgeous.

accessorieshelp · 23/08/2012 21:27

am liking the stylescaredy but worried about beading being too much??

much better bracelet mrsL

tescos peep toes in varying shades

accessorieshelp · 23/08/2012 21:30

EAP there aren't belt loops but I feel like it needs a belt too keep my tummy in

I have some pearl studs which I'm going to wear and will see if my mum has some fake pearls, otherwise I'm sure I have a small silver pendant somewhere

OP posts:
accessorieshelp · 23/08/2012 21:32

I LOVE those tesco heels but they are just too high for me

shoes
don't suppose you're a 4?
not sure
beautiful - black
and again

(hte blue belt would be Very Wrong with blue shoes, toning blue clutch and toning blue bracelt,. White shawl, white belt and blue shoes toning with a blue bag would work)

accessorieshelp · 23/08/2012 22:03

I agree - have ordered the blue belt though so wld defo not get blue bag & bracelet too. Maybe blue shoes though - not a size 4 unfortunately, & not sure about the 1st ones or 3rd ones & just not convinced about black sorry (will try dress on tomorrow with some black shoes)

accessorieshelp · 23/08/2012 22:07

ooh ooh how about these?

new look bargain

OP posts:
MrsLettuce · 23/08/2012 22:09

I think the blue belt will be much nicer than the white, good call.

is this the pale colour on the dress? If so how about those and this (or something like it)?

Yellow shoes or bag could work. Soft lemony sort of shade?

MrsLettuce · 23/08/2012 22:10

x posts

Yeah nice hey, I saw those and you'd have to check IRL but I think thT blue would clash rather than tone with the blues in the dress.

accessorieshelp · 23/08/2012 22:14

ooh yes that is the pale colour & I like those, thanks.
will order new look ones too, maybe you're right that they would clash if they're too 'electric'.
jigsaw link doesn't work, what was it?

I thought of yellow too, think it could work

OP posts:
accessorieshelp · 23/08/2012 22:16

hmm think you're right, I've just opened the pic of the dress next to those new look shoes and I don't think it would work, and I'm wondering if it'll be the same for the belt..

think i'll order those sandals you linked though

MrsLettuce · 23/08/2012 22:25

the belt looked like it'd work to me (am always comparing tabs) but colour calibration varies so much between computers and the colour in the photos probably isn't true in any case. It's a minefield trying to match colours on line, no. An exact match is impossible.

Anyway, it looked to tone in very nicely with the blues in the dress although I don't think it was a specific match IYSWIM.

Dollydowser · 23/08/2012 22:31

Lovely dress. Take a look here and see how she accessorises a 50's dress with a belt and a petticoat and see if you like the look.

MrsLettuce · 23/08/2012 22:31

Ah, sorry, yes, jigsaw and if it doesn't work search Kempton Clutch

MrsLettuce · 23/08/2012 22:33

Didn't dare suggest a petticoat, people must be skick of hearing me go on about them, but it screams for one to me. Yes.

accessorieshelp · 23/08/2012 23:00

AAAAGH stop, I've been looking at petticoats - I would love one but it's just more money. It's amazing the difference it makes to one of her dresses though. Any suggestions on where to get one?

I have to say the dress twirls so beautifully, don't want the petticoat to spoil that although I don't know how much twirling I'llbe doing

Jigsaw link a bit £££ tbh for something I wouldn't use again, would rather spend the money on a petticoat Grin

OP posts:
ThisTooShallPass · 23/08/2012 23:08

A good petticoat twirls like heaven.

I have one of these, a 15 quid cheaper here though. It's the STP835 4th down on the left.

accessorieshelp · 23/08/2012 23:10

oh maaaan you lot are a bad influence!! What colour petticoat (if I was to get one)

OP posts:
ThisTooShallPass · 23/08/2012 23:16

this bargain bag tones very nicely with the dress and shoes, not sure about the belt. Maybe. White might be better. You can always return the blue but TBH it'd be handy to have both belts anyway.

ThisTooShallPass · 23/08/2012 23:17

white petticoat. No question.

accessorieshelp · 23/08/2012 23:30

will have a think. wish I could try one on (petticoat that is). It just bumps up the price of the dress so much

anyway I HAVE to get some sleep, thanks for all your help

OP posts:
MrsLettuce · 24/08/2012 07:29

That mango bag isn't very exciting but it looks spot on, I think it might well work with the blue belt too. Pretty sure in fact. I'd still order the white too, for safeties sake.

Looks to me like you're doing fine budget wise actually, especially considering neither a cover up or petticoat were in the original 120 brief:

30 = 2 x belt & bag (mango)
26 = shoes (bertie)
15 = pashmina
45 = petticoat (swingtime)
116

Mango have got a few bracelets in white, 'silver' or 'gold' at +/- 15 quid that would fit the bill. If you only keep one of the belts you'll spot on budget...

MrsLettuce · 24/08/2012 07:34

Oh, and obviously you'll get years of wear out of the whole combo...
